Wed Oct 08 2008I really think this depends on the state you live in. Some are really lax on recycling but others are really supportive of it. I do think every state should have a refund on soda cans, then you would see a lot less in the trash.

Tue May 13 2008Sometimes, but I find it is easier just to throw these items away.

Tue May 13 2008I don't throw cans away when I can help it, because to me it's like throwing money away. So, yes, I do recycle the cans. As far as the plastic goes, the only way that I recycle them is by using them for trash liners.

Mon May 12 2008I'm pretty good with newspapers, plastics, glass and tin, made easier by the fact that my condominium complex has handy bins for pre-sorting. The easier you make this stuff, the more likely I am to do it. A sad comment on me, perhaps, but I doubt I'm alone.

Mon May 12 2008I got the big blue recycle bin at my house, so I guess that helps a bit.

Mon May 12 2008I recycle when I can, but I don't necessarily go out of my way to recycle something if there is a trash can around, but no recycling bin.

Mon May 12 2008The county I live in makes it easy to recycle most paper, plastic, and glass products. It doesn't take much effort to sort these items from the other trash, and I feel it is a great way to help the environment.

Sun May 21 2006Certainly something easy, worth doing to help the environment. The community just now started offering up bins/cans seperate from regular trash so that we can do this on a regular basis. On a side note---my family's always been into collecting aluminum cans, so that we can recycle them for the pay-outs in taking them in. True Story: My grandfather is an obsessive packrat. My grandmother finally got tired of the mounds and mounds of cans in the backyard and hired a dump truck driver and some laborers to come over and collect them and take them to the center for us. 2 whole days and 5000 pounds of cans later; we still have probably 1000 pounds of cans still out there. Asked my grandfather how he managed to get so many. He replies: "Started collecting them a long time ago; after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the price of cans dropped down to 25 cents a pound. I wasn't gonna sell them that cheap, are you nuts?!" (yea, the cans have been out there since the fall of the Berlin Wal... Read more

Sun May 21 2006It's easy to do once you get in the habit and if your community provides the means to keep recyclables separate from regular trash.

Sat May 20 2006Some states even pay you for your recyclable cans and bottles. It's like the streets are littered with nickels!

Fri Oct 28 2005The city I live in provides a bin just for recyclable goods. I do what I can to put recyclable items in there, it doesn't take much effort from me. Many products have labels that say "used from 100% recycled paper."

Mon Oct 24 2005We recycle some things. Newspapers, plastic milk bottles, and pop cans bottles. We have a green bin with the city that picks up the papers and milk containers. In Michigan it costs 10 cents per bottle can, so of course we always recycle those.

Mon Oct 24 2005I don't recycle everything but I don't make a very sincere effort to recycle whatever I can and always neatly put the plastics into the big blue recycling bin when the regular trash is collected. Aluminum, aerosol cans, newpapers/magazines and the like usually have to be dropped off at the recycling center which can be inconvenient, but its not like I'm taking a trip to the Sudan.

Mon Oct 24 2005Recycle whatever you can.Do this for your grandchildren. There's nowhere left to put all of the garbage we make.Whatever "resources" are left should be used very wisely.Anything that can be reused or recycled is a resource.

Mon Oct 24 2005I don't see why not, especially in light of the fact that there are numerous incentives in place and an increasing number of organizations and governmental agencies are promoting it. A small but valuable tool in the fight to improve environmental quality.

Mon Oct 24 2005I do this all the time, with everything I can (paper, glass, aluminum, etc.). It helps keep down the bulk in the trash bags, and inasmuch as the community I live in has a trash collection system based on putting the trash out in specially marked plastic bags that cost two bucks a pop, it save money. The recylcled stuff gets picked up for free.

Sun Oct 23 2005I was pretty thrilled that the place that I work at and my apartment complex both do recycling. It's pretty amazing how much less trash you throw out once you take out all the cardboard, the aluminum cans, the plastic bottles . . . It is a little annoying that, out of all things, my apartment complex doesn't recycle regular paper. I mean, come on. They'll take newspapers, but not regular white paper. And some cardboards.
