The Rastafari movement is a monotheistic, Abrahamaic, new religion that arose because offensive pushy Christian priests tried to shove Christianity down the throats of Jamaican culture. Although the movement is referred to as Rastafarianism, many Rastafari consider this a derogatory term because being labeled an “ism” makes your religion sound stupid and contrived. Founded by Bob Marley and Joe Higgs in the late 1930s, Rasta followers worship various strains of Ghanja Calypso Gods that reside just east of the Hydroponic Island Condominiums and due south of the 619 Green Crack expressway. The names of some of the deities include Widow Berry Hybrid; Puff the Magic Dragon, Granddaddy Purple, the Green Dreamer, Illmatic the Organic, the All Mighty Wisdom, Me and Julio (who resides down by the schoolyard) and Platinum Katman Kush. Identifying a Rastafari is rather simple. For example, most Rasta’s wear hand made or woven rainbow colored hats even in summer mostly done as show of their sup... Read more

Named after Ras Tafari Makonnen, Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia in 1930. Preferred term is 'Rastafari movement', as the 'ism' is a characteristic of whitey. The Rastafari movement is a political-messianic-religious group that was founded in the slums of Jamaica in the 1930's and they believe in the divinity of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie I. It is worth noting that Emperor Selassie has claimed to be a man and not a god. Their sacred text is the Holy Piby, the "Black Man's Bible" which is essentially the Christian Bible where parts that they believe to be distorted by whites have been removed. Rastafari's believe in the Abrahamic God, which they call Jah, who came to earth as a black Jesus and as Emperor Haile Selassie. Emperor Selassies death was a hoax and he is awaiting the day of Judgement. There is no afterlife, but Africa is a Heaven on earth. Rastafaris are physically and spiritually immortal, or 'everliving.' Rastafaris believe that there is a oneness between God and ... Read more

A lot has been made of the association of Marijuana to the Rastafari faith, but its really no different than the Anglicans and their sherry.

Who cares where the birthplace of mankind was??? The point is we are everywhere now, and God said the garden of eden was mans birthplace. Another thing to stray you from the path.

Men has come up with many ways to contradict and change the Word of God, and the imagination and inventiveness of some has produced rather very strange religious beliefs.

marijuana is a drug nothing more. africa being the source of humanity is possible. thus being tropical, the best growth occurs here. giving reason aztecs grew in south america due to tropical economy.

It sounds fun, but only for novelty, not for a lifestyle! Africa aint the birthplace and if it is, this doesn't make it holy, only GOD makes things holy!
