Wed Feb 10 2010Although the Forschner knives lack the elegant look of more expensive knives, this is easily the best chef's knife I've ever handled. Between this $25 knife and a $100 Wenger Delemont or Henkel 4-Star Carbon, this Forschner cleans up. It is wickedly sharp and the balance is perfection. Each time I use it to cut something new, I literally take a moment to marvel at how well it gets the job done. The handle is the part that feels and looks a little cheap. It is available in walnut as an alternative if you desperately need something pretty, but this textured Fibrox handle is completely non-slip, even if your hands are wet or oily. If you've ever found yourself cursing your knife-skills, do yourself a favor and pick up one of these. I can almost guarantee you'll improve without any effort.

Wed Jan 21 2009Had I known it was possible to fall in love with a set of knives, I would have given up my eharmony membership long ago. (Just kidding) I have a set of Calphalon Contemporary knives and thought they were great. After reading an online review at a reputable cooking site however, I bought this set for a friend. (Price to quality ratio was well-reviewed) OMG, everything you cut is like butta (except for butter itself which is like watta) Whether you buy the set or just the pieces you need, I cannot recommend these knives enough. With this chef's knife, you can do almost everything. (OK, MAYBE you want a smaller utility or paring knife as well, but still) Oh, and though I love them to much to do so, I believe they are dishwasher safe.

Mon Jan 19 2009I bought this for my son who loves to cook but always complained about our lack of good knives (we have ONE good one). So for his birthday, I got him his own very nice knife. This one. He told me it was the best birthday present I've ever given him (even better than the lego castle on the lego table?!!). Yes, the best. He wishes the blade was a little thinner, but he love the shape and length. I also bought the blade protector.

Thu Dec 25 2008I'm not a professional chef and I don't use my knives to make a living, so my review is only based on my home cooking use. I was faced with rebuilding my kitchen essentials and I needed some decent kitchen knives at a reasonable price. After doing much research I decided to try the Forschner knives, and I'm awfully glad I did. These are the best knives I have ever used. I will grant that I've never been able to afford and have never used the very top end, top brand knives, but I have used a wide variety over my many years. In the past, if the blade was good, the handle was awful, and vice versa. With this knife, I was completely satisfied with the edge right out of the package and it has been easy to keep sharp. The handle design fits my particular hand like a glove. The ten inch knife is almost more knife than I need, as a rule. I also have the 8-Inch Chef's Knife and find myself reaching for that knife first. Then again, I have a very small kitchen with a limited workspace and ... Read more
