My dog likes this dog food, it's convenient when we travel because of it's packaging. I think all dog foods are 50/50 and I do not think there is anything in them that would eventually cause any kind of serious health problem. What I do and it works great for my small dog (13 lbs.), every day I give him a bag of this and I mix it with pure protein. What I mean by pure protein, I give him one of the following: ground beef, lamb or pork, chicken (mostly) or turkey, no excess fat, cut that out. If you have a little fattier meats like ground beef, I cook it and then strain it through paper towels to absorb any excess grease. He is all muscle and rips around the house like a monkey and can really jump high. I give him dog food with the meat to make sure he gets what he needs, things that are put in dog food made especially for their diet and health. For his treats I only give him one of three: Dental bones for his teeth, Milk Bone dog bisquits or Wagon Wheel chicken strips.

Tried to submit this once before, but an error came up, so I'm trying again...sorry if it's duplicated. I started feeding my dogs moist and meaty.....mixing it with their regular food until they adapted to it alone. Had a dog that lived 20 years on this food, believe it or not. My Mom only fed the dog this food. Decided to start using it alone, but unfortunately, since being on it alone only a few days, one of the dogs started throwing up. I went back to the other food figuring it did not agree with this dog. She seems fine this morning. My other dog has been eating light since going on it and has not been acting right, but not throwing up. She had just had her shots, so I attributed her behavior to the shots. Now this morning, she has been throwing up, as well. I know they have not eaten anything in the yard because one is very old and the other dog is a very small maltese, so we don't leave them outside where they could become a victim to any hungry critters out the... Typical Run of The Mill Super Market Type Food, Comments on this review are based on previous words i have since removed. Im no expert on dog foods like most people on here seem to be. I only know from my own experience that this food never once caused a problem with my dog. Common sense tells me that if this food was killing dogs all across the world than it surely would not be on the shelfs for sale. It is very possible that the dogs who have got sick, could have already had previous medical problems. Everyone these days wants to blame somebody for something. I like the food and only give it to my dog as a once in awhile treat. This food should NOT be used as a dogs only source of food. I honestly cannot allow myself to think that this food kills dogs. Think about it, does that make any rational sense at all? Would it really be still on the shelfs for all these years? I think not. In this world of computers and people saying whatever they want, i will continue to remain normal like t... Read more

If I could have rated less then a star, I would have. About a year ago I bought it as a treat for my Chihuahua's and they started to have bloody diarrhea. I thought I had bought a bad batch and forgot about it. Now a year later I gave it to my little under 2 lb Chihuahua, and a day later, she is now dead, after bloody diarrhea, seizures, and a coma. Thanks so much, Purina. What a awesome food, I just wish I had my beautiful little dog back.

This honestly has to be the worst food out there! After feeding my Chihuahuas this food for three months, my older Chihuahua nearly died. While feeding Moist and Meaty my older Chihuahua developed siezures that started off once a week and advanced to once a day, my other two Chihuahua's were vomiting, swollen abdomen, and lethargic. What the heck is in this stuff? I've since switched their food to Blue Buffalo, which is a little pricy, but is honestly the best food out there. Since switching them to the Blue Buffalo the siezures have stopped, the vomiting has stopped, their little abdomen's are returning to normal size and they are becoming my happy, energetic babies again. Check out Blue Buffalo at www.bluebuffalo.com My vote, take the Purina Moist and Meaty toxic garbage off the market!

Very, Very BAD. I can't believe it... but our dog (2 year old) not only got similar symptoms after one feeding . He stopped eating anything for four days straight. His gums turned whitish and he didn't move much. Poor thing we think he suffered quite a lot. My wife thought this cheeseburger flavor is cool but now after paying a vet bill and suffering through these few days I think the company should be held liable somehow. Any suggestions ? We know for sure now that it was this food. This Purina Moist & Meaty Cheeseburger flavor in little clear plastic pouches is the reason our dog suffered through this ordeal which we thought was killing him at the time. we thought he had a parasitic infection but after the Vet verified that he had an enlarged spleen and no infections, we realized it was that one packet that he ate a few days before. What is this dog food made from ? why does it stay moist ?

if i could have voted less than one star i would have. i have a 3yr papillon and she LOVES this food of course. shes been eating it for about a month now and i took her off of it. every since shes been eating it her fur has been falling out like crazy. i find large patches of fur because the food is NOT as healthy as everyone claims dont believe everything you read. my dog had very healthy and beautiful coat and every since shes been eating this it has gone to hell. nothing has changed except her dog food so i KNOW thats what it is. she hardly ever sheds nothing like what it is right now. horrible horrible horrible. of course dogs are going to like the food because its got alot of bad stuff in it just like us humans we tend to like all the sodas and food that has alot of bad stuff in it DUH!

My puppy (6 Months) has been eating this for the last 2 weeks. I switched him from Eukanuba to Moist & Meaty because we have to drive an hour to get the Eukanuba. Since I switched his food, all he does is vomit. I thought he licked / ate a frog because his vomit was white. Now, he is throwing up his food. He also only eats it when he is hungry. I didn't think it was the food until recenlty. Now I feel horrible for assuming it was good for him. I for one, dont want to be the reason he dies. As parents it is our responsibily to find them a healthier choice, since they cannot do it for themselves. To rate this food at a 5 at this point would be iresponsible and unmoral. I am an ex Vet Tech of 5 years. I understand that changing a dogs food to sudden can attract health risks, such as vomiting, But I believe it is this food that is making him sick. I am going to write Purina and ask that they review this product. If anyone else has had this problem, please comment, I would like to know if ... Read more

I bought moist and meaty years ago for my Pug, she would not eat anything else so instead of "people food" she ate moist and meaty for years when she was a young dog. ( not a puppy) When she got older ( 11 years) I started her on Iams, science diet, all the top dog foods which she did not like but I added canned food and she reluctantly ate it. She just passed away 3 weeks ago at the age of 13. I hear what people are saying about moist and meaty but it had no adverse affect on my dog as far as I can can tell, she was healthy up until the end ( she has been eating science diet ).

Main Ingredients: Cheese formula: Beef, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Soybean Grits, Soybean Flour, Water, Wheat Flour, Dried Cheese Powder, Corn Syrup, Added Color (Yellow 6, Red 40, Yellow 5 and other color) ethoxyquin(a preservative), vitamins etc Less Active: Wheat flour, soybean grits, soybean flour, high fructose corn syrup, brewers condensed solubles, beef, added color (Red 40), ethoxyquin(a preservative) etc do I honestly need to say more? With other dog foods that aren't quite as bad such as purina one. I have to explain why each ingredient is low quality. but these ingredients are painfully self-explanitory. If you care about your dogs health, at least go beyond the bare minimum and try to purchase holistic organic foods with more meat and better quality ingredients. Anyone disagreeing is in deniallllll. high fructose corn syrup and cheese powder for a dog? come on now!

Theres actually sugar and corn syrup in this food!!!!! Why does a dog need this? Insanely low protein like 18%. I wouldnt feed lower then 22%! There is next to know meat and no quality meat in this either. It uses food coloring and menadione. I really dont see anything good about this food.

I really hate this dog food! First of all, we bought it without researching the ingredients (shame on us), thinking it would be a good in between of dry and wet food. We had just found this dog starving by the side of a country road obviously having been dropped off there by some jerk a few days earlier, and it looked like he'd been standing there the whole time waiting for his owner to come back. So we wanted to get him some really nice food that would make him feel happy and loved. and thought this was a perfect choice. He ate it up like crazy for a week, untill we found out how bad it is for dogs, with all the sugar and preservatives and throw away ingredients. Then we tried to slowly switch to healthy dry food, but he won't eat it. If it isn't soft, he won't eat it! He's been totally spoiled by the Moist and Meaty crap, and we are going through heck trying to find food he will eat! I would advise completely against this food as main food source, and even as a treat if you ha... Read more

A month ago this product it was around $13. Today it was over $17 at the same store. The shelf was stocked with the new packaged version and a couple older boxes were still on the shelf. The old box claims: "Beef is the number 1 ingredient". This is missing from the new package. The old packages lists beef first in the ingredients. The new package now lists "beef byproducts" as the first ingredient. I bought the older boxes and will now need to find something else to feed my dogs. Shame on you, Purina. Price gouging and ingredient cheapening all in one move. Guess what? People aren't stupid.

This is the only dog food that my little dog will eat. I am having a hard time finding the meat w/o cheese in the stores. Many stores have discontinued the product. I understand that Purina is changing the appearance of the box. I don't care what the box looks like, the fact that it is nutritious and taste good is all that matters. Please hurry and get it back in the stores. I'm on my last box! Panic!!!!!! Thank you.

I have never had a dog not like Moist & Meaty. I don't know about nutritional value but they think it tastes great and eat it up! I'd give it as a snack or to spice things up a bit.

There is nothing wrong with giving this to your dog as a "food topper," but there is absolutely no reason to give this to them as a full meal. Many dogs are finicky eaters, so using is a food topper is a great way to get them the nutrients they need. However, moist and meaty contains mostly high fructose corn syrup and grain. Its draw is that it contains "real beef," but don't think that means it has sirloin ground up in there. It has beef parts, but definitely nothing a human would ever eat. Legally, a company can say a product contains "beef" when it has ANY part of a cow in its ingredients. I work at a dog boutique and have a broad knowlege of dog nutrition. I would definitley reccomend using a food like merrick, canidae, eagle pack (holistic select) or innova. Sure, its a little more pricey, but its worth it.

The #2 ingredient is HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, which is also fed to humans in all types of junk food (soft drinks, candy, etc.) and is absolute poison. This ingredient should be banned as the body cannot detect its input (at least sugar is detected and we get a "filled" feeling). Ahorrible dog and human food!

it isn't the best option but it does contain real beef. which is more than Alpo, Dog chow, or Beneful can say. I would not recommend it alone but a few sprinkles on top of a premium dog food makes it that much more desirable for any finicky pooch

This food stinks, after my dog ate this food he then had kidney problems and low calcium. He also has problems with his mouth, his teeth are falling out. Also everytime we put him on his metication he is fine, but right after it wares off he always just lays around and is very lazy. Also when he makes a bow movment he poop is not runny but when we would pick it up it would be very mushy. From my family and I's point of veiw this food deserves a zero rating!! (Too bad I can not rate this item zero stars!!

My 5 year old Siberian Husky ate this food for 4 years. He was very finicky and I was grateful to find something he would eat. A few weeks ago he stopped wanting it. I wouldn't change foods because I was scared about all the recalls and believed this was safe since he seemed okay. We put some shredded cheese on top to get him to eat it - he just picked at it. Four days ago he dropped dead at only 5 yrs old. I am sick. He was my baby. Don't know if this will end up as part of a recall, but he was a healthy dog..had him evaluated a few months back. Would recommend that no one uses this dog food.

Horrible food. Junk food for dogs. Feed this to your dogs and you are going to have many medical and dental problems. Here are the Ingredients: Chicken, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Wheat Flour,       Soybean Grits, Soybean Flour, Water, Corn Syrup, Brewers Condensed Solubles Other than the chicken(80% water, look for chicken meal) every ingredient in this is a negative. Do not buy any food with corn in it: this food has corn syrup twice! (low solubility and rotten teeth) Do not buy any food with Wheat (very high allergen to dogs)This food has it! Do not buy any food with Soy (again.. another big negative.. high allergen): this food has it twice! If you have this food...       Run don't walk to the pet store and buy some of the top 20 rated foods on this site. Keep only enough to make a one week transition to another food, and bury the rest.

Is this even a dog food? Corn syrup as a second ingredient (and a seventh), artificial coloring, and ethoxyquin as a preservative, thats just scary! Not to mention that their source of meat is not even in meal form, so once you take out the water it is going to be the seventh or eigth ingredient (and look, thats right next to their ingredient of...Water!). You therefore have Corn Syrup as a first ingredient!!! This food is not better than feeding your dog cotton candy its whole life. Plus, they use Ethozyquin as a preservative, which has been known to promote kidney cancer animals in quantities over 5ppm (its allowed in 150ppm in dog food). Horrible food and an insult to the pet food industry!

Dogs love it (especially when you look at the ingredients, because sugar is the 2nd ingredient). However, it isn't really healthy, so I wouldn't give it to the dogs as a main meal all the time (I add some to the dry food.. our dogs are very picky.

If you don't mind a little "junk food", Moist and Meaty, makes a very convenient training treat. PROs Pretty high value (at least the beef/cheese flavor is) Small size with no chopping Can be broken into even smaller pieces while feeding Stays soft for days. Skinny threaded shape. Very quick to consume. Doesn't make the dog choke when the dog takes it with its nose pointed up like kibble does Balanced (but see below) ration so not so high fat. Can replace a portion of regular ration. Not high sodium Shelf stable Not greasy. Doesn't make your fingers smell like kibble First ingredient is meat CONs If you call your rewards "cookies" you're being more precise than you'd think. It says soft the way soft packaged cookies do...corn syrup (2nd ingredient!) Contains soy Contains dye Comes only in big boxes. Inside the box are pouches that are still a LOT if only used as treats.

I wish there was such a thing as a zero rating...this food cannot be healthy to any dog... ingredients: Beef, high fructose corn syrup, soybean grits, soybean flour, water, wheat flour, corn syrup, calcium carbonate, brewers condensed solubles, phosphoric acid, salt, sorbic acid (added to prevent spoilage), calcium propionate (added to prevent spoilage), DL-Methionine, choline chloride, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, vitamin supplements (E, A, B-12, D-3), ethoxyquin (a preservative), added color (Red 40). Corn syrup? (sugar) soybean grits? (waste product) Ethoxyquin? (a carcinogenic preservative) Artificial colors???
