really enjoy this club. You don't wait for anything and everyone really seems nice. I really like the private lady's workout area for my wife and the indoor and outdoor pools are great.. Oh, she also Zumba.What a workout --Josh

I joined Pure Fitness right after having my first baby, big mistake. I was told that I had to sign a contract, but if I moved out of the area then it would be very easy to cancel the contract. I actually ended up moving, but I knew that I did sign a year contract so I didn't cancel... well my contract was up two months ago and they are still taking money out of my account! I called and was put on hold three times and finally I spoke with the lady in charge of billing and she told me I had to personally cancel WHAT isn't that the whole point of a contract now I am going to have to personally go in and deal with this after already giving them hundreds of dollars for last years membership, please really consider everything before joining a lot of times they make it seem so easy... read the fine print ask a lot of questions... or even better stay away from Pure Fitness... don't get me wrong a lot of the people are nice, but there business practices are horrible.

Pure Fitness has okay facilities. Okay as in marginally better than the free fitness room at my apartment. But I can live with that. My wife got me a membership for my birthday, but because I am a student I would only need it for the summer, and so she told them. They said it was no problem, we didn't have to sign a contract, and even better, we would get a discount because I am a military veteran. Surprise surprise! They made all of it up! Now we're locked into a year contract at standard rates and when my wife tried to get it canceled she was lied to some more. Employees were referring her to other employees who claimed they didn't even know the person who had referred her in the first place. Perhaps the most insulting part is that the personal trainers and managers who actively recruit new members are shamelessly scamming members of the military and veterans. Pure fitness is completely unorganized and unethical. When we originally signed up, the person selling the contract said that it wasn't really a contract and that we could get out of it at any time just by "saying that we were moving." I did sign said contract, however, they are a complete clusterf**k and I can't find anyone to talk to about changing or canceling it. A business with multiple locations and no central office, when you ask to go over someone's head they can't provide you with a phone number or address to contact in order to give them a discrepancy. If you try to go above the local gym level, they will hamstring you and lead you in circles with empty promises of "talk to so-and-so, they can help. Come back in 3 days." NOBODY can or is willing to help you. If you have a problem with your local gym, you're pretty much forced to eat it. The staff is completely unaccompanying and unwilling to provide you with any results, answers, or even a name to complain to.

I was a member of Pure Fitness for 3 years. That is my biggest regret! I joined Pure Fitness to spend more time with my wife since we had different schedules (school, work, etc.). I used two of their gyms. Both location's equipment were old and I'd have to wait to use the equipment sometimes. I always run on treadmills and to have the treadmills stop in the middle of a run really aggrivated me because it seemed like after 15 minutes or so it would stop. I reported it to the manager but nothing was ever done! Ellipticals were always being used, my wife had to always wait for them! I just cancelled my membership at Pure Fitness last Friday and joined LA Fitness. I should have done that a long time ago! The tour I took was at the oldest LA Fitness in the east valley I think. Even being the oldest gym in the east valley, it blew Pure Fitness out of the water.

Being an ex-Pure Fitness employee, I can tell you everything you need to know about that hell hole. First of all, don't expect to get prices upon request. They will do anything to not tell you the prices because they don't want you to know just how bad they plan on screwing you over. With the $10 a month membership, expect to pay an $189 initiation fee, along with a $49 processing fee, and let's not forget first and last months payment down. All memberships increase annually and are subject to a $25 yearly maintentance fee, which they will charge to your card without any notice. Oh, and if you're payment is late, or your credit card expires, your dues will increase by $10 a month. DON'T LET THEM FOOL YOU! If you decide you want to cancel your membership, be sure you have an entire afternoon to devote to it, as well as an extra months dues which they WILL charge you before they even consider cancelling your membership. this last guy is a total joke these guys have helped me lose 32 lbs since i joined and just in a little trailer can"t wait to see what they can do for me in the brand new club. everytime i go in they know me and everyone else that walks through the door and help out if u have any questions about something new.

Wow, rude and obnoxious is all I can say. The peoria store people are sweet as could be until you mention that you may need to cancel your membership then it is OVER. Don't bother. These people could care less if you lose weight or stay in shape. The only thing they see are the dollar signs

Talk about a major bait and switch! You keep hearing about the $19 membership and it's such a crock! The CHEAPEST I was offered was $29 with $150 up front. For that price, I can join LA Fitness and it's a LOT closer. When I asked about the $19 membership, I was told it was for members that only want the facilities and it's from like 5am - 3pm. Well, the facility I went to doesn't even open until 10am. AND they're in presale so it's one little room with all this equipment crammed in. The groundbreaking for the new one is in another month. WTF?

Prepaid a year, after that year they just started charging my card without even so much as a courtesy call. Tried to cancel with the 800 number, they gave me the gym number, called the gym, they told me I cant do it over the phone. Shitty business practices. Please dont use them.

Warning - Pure Fitness is hell If you have kids stay away from Pure Fitness this is hell for your children. Don't trust their day care - our baby wont stay at other places anymore since we had her their, our 12 month old dauther completly freaked out since then, we don't know what exactly happened in the day care to her, but it must have been a nightmare. And all what Poor Fitness Management did was blaming the baby.

Pure Fitness is a joke. At first when I joined I told them that I might be moving within a year so I was concerned about signing a contract. They made it seem like it was so easy to get out of the one year contract and told me many ways and that if I moved 10 miles from the gym I could cancel. So I joined and really enjoyed working out there at first. Well then I moved 9 months later and then they told me it was like 25 miles from the gym and that I couldn't drop it. So I commuted for months then warned them 2 months before my contract was up that I wanted to stop when it was complete. They said that I had to come back the next month. So I went in on the 2nd of the next month. They had the nerve to tell me that I had to pay an extra month because I didn't cancel the day before. (on the first) Talk about a greedy gym. I've been a member for about a year now and I believe it has changed a lot since that first person's review a couple years ago. Almost every time I work out (~5 days a week) there is always someone cleaning the machines and what not. I haven't had any problems with pressures for personal training because I outright told them that I wasn't interested because I already have the experience and used to be a personal trainer myself. It's a huge gym, although they don't have a pool or tennis courts. They do,however, have basketball courts. The only times it can get a bit crowded is lunch break hours (around 12 & 1) and in the evenings starting at about 5:30-6. Parking can also be a big problem during those hours. The view of Lake Union is great while your working out though..especially during the summer.

I have been trying to get back in shape for some time now and im not going to lie am a little lazzzzzzzzzzzzy. I got tiered of bing out of shape and went from gym to gym one day to see what was out there. I desided to join pure fitness on greenway and 32nd st cuz it was professional and the staff introduced themselfs and were having fun it was a good invironment. Well after i joined the person i joined with keept bugging me to come work out it was kinda annoying at first but i got down to do it and im glade they did. It is fun and now i feel 10 times better about myself

The downtown gym has had problems since Pure fitness, an Arizona chain, took ownership from The Vault, a locally owned Seattle gym. As a 5 year member at the location, I have noticed that the cleanliness, maintenance, facilities and amenities have suffered in cost cutting in exchange for an emphasis on personal training sales, supplements and the Pure Fitnesses Reprogramming down from the trainer fitness style. Most of the former Vault members left due to these changes in quality and instead there is a parade of constantly changing new faces as member retention and what that takes has not been a major concern of the new management. Management is also fluid and the trainers and managers often change making it is hard to find anyone who is accountable to ask questions to. Management often does not know what is going on downstairs in the facilities as they dont use the locker rooms and amenities.
