Mon Nov 02 2009My daughter and I played this game for hours on end. This game is an example of how our learning system should be with the technology we have available. "Professor Layton" ties together beautiful animation, an interesting story, and fun educational puzzles to create an enjoyable learning experience. Make no mistake- it's not dreary rote math disguised as a game. It is full of logic puzzles which are very fun to solve. As far as difficulty, my 9-year-old daughter and I "solved" the complete game in about 12 hours total. We did not hurry. Most of the puzzles are too hard for her, but she enjoyed watching me struggle on them and we shared the "aha!" moment each time we got one right. I think she solved about 20 of the 125 puzzles completely by herself. About 10 of them gave me fits, but I eventually got them. Best DS game I've ever purchased.

Sun Oct 11 2009I was a little disappointed that there was no box or flyer with the game. There was also no way for me to cancel the three names already on the game. But I just saved over the onces there with a new name and I played it out. Most of the puzzles are great, but there are a few I just could not figure out. That is OK, I played again....

Mon Oct 05 2009After reading about the hype for the sequel to this game, and consulting with some of my close friends who had played this one, I decided to give it a shot and hope for the best. And boy was I suprised. The variety of puzzles, in terms of difficulty and type, made this game really engaging. And for the collectors, you can go even further and earn yourself a pat in the back for getting all the puzzles in the game. The story is engaging and well presented. I love the voice acting, and the animated sequences are well done. The variety of puzzle types kept me on my feet, naturally beign great at some and dismal in others. But don't fret! If you're having a little too much difficulty with a puzzle you can use the "Hint Coins" you discover while exploring the town of St. Mystere. This tended to yield the path to the solution, and the hints only failed me twice to provide a train of thought to the puzzle. These hiccups were with the harder puzzles you can unlock by collecting all of... Read more

Fri May 01 2009Recently finished all the puzzles + bonuses. :D Very addicting, especially the last bonus puzzle which took up most of my day trying to solve! I'm pretty sure my brain got a very intense workout. As for replayability.... the sliding type puzzles might be a reason to go back to the game after completing. Also, if you have wi-fi, you can download weekly puzzles! The sequel better come very sooon!

Fri Nov 07 2008Professor Layton and the Curious Village for Nintendo DS consoles is a game that you will have trouble turning off ! It's astonishing amount of puzzles that you must try to resolve are very fun and the game is very challenging as long as you don't cheat. People just love Professor Layton and if you like to solve mysteries, you should pretty much like this game. It is also very educational and stimulates the brain in many ways. The graphics are modern, really well designed and pleasant. The sound is great and the voices are awesome. The only disadvantage of this video game is the fact that it won't be as fun to play with the second time around because it will be to easy for you. It's length will keep you busy for a long enough time to forget about this part. I highly recommend this game to puzzle and mystery lovers as they will have a ball !
