Fri Apr 02 2004Portland State is a fine University for any person without physical and/or Learning Disabilities. Unfortunately, I was physically disabled from injuries suffered while serving the DOD in the Middle East, and have been dyslexic since birth. When I attended grade and high school, I was treated for speach and hearing difficulties. I love learning, and I'm very curious person, so when I started my formal education at PSU, a life-long dream come true, I was filled with confidence, optimisim, and good-will towards all. Tue Feb 11 2003This is a very do-it-yourself type of college. Receiving help in Admin or Financial aid is a joke. If you call, be prepared to be transferred around repeatedly and listen to "that's not my job" or "I don't do that in this department". If you decide to bypass the phones, you will find yourself walking around campus for awhile to find an answer. There seems to be zero customer service (yes we are customers as we are paying for an education), nor does there seem to be quality help. The campus is in downtown Portland, which in itself in fabulous... unless you need somewhere to live. Campus housing is a joke, as is parking. Lucky for PSU, Portland has a great transportation system. Housing can range anywhere from $500 (closet size apartment) to over a grand (normal size apartment) to live "on campus". There really is no purpose to living on campus if you can help it. There basically is no campus life. Security is a big issue that Portland State really needs to consider. Inste... Read more
