Wed May 12 2010i am turing 16 in july and i am looking for a cheap car and i cam across th fieros i like the look and sportyness of it. Reliability isnt so important to me, i want a car that i can work on and fix up. Would anyone give me any advise if so reply to [email protected]

Sun May 09 2010WoW! The nerds that will defend those shitty Fieros. My gosh those cars were JUNK! I had one, a brand new one that was cooked at 11,000 miles! As for build quality? Holy shit, quality was the least important priority on Fieros. Mine had masking tape the factory left under the hood, blotchy paint, ill fitting body panels and a dash board that was already warped when I took delivery of the car! Not to mention the infamous squeaks and rattles that the dealer couldn't repair! Such great and marvelous cars, eh?! How may do you see on the road today? Come to think of it, fifteen years ago they were scarce on the roads! The Fiero was just one of GM's products released in the WORST era of automotive history that paved way to the horrid reputation the company suffered from. The Fiero was junk because of the bean counters at GM and parts sharing. Tue Feb 09 2010Previous reviewer nailed it. Engine fires were limited to the 84 and in subsequent years the issue was moot, though the bad rep stayed with it till the end. Had overheating problems which were fixed by adding a 190 thermostat, down from the 220 originally used. From my perspective, while one damn fine looking car, the 84 was severely underpowered, given its "sports car" designation. Later years GM increased horsepower though never to the point were serious drivers would consider it worthy, until the 88. By then though, sales had slumped due to the decline in two-seaters and the previous issues which, as I said, plagued the car despite of the fact that they had been dealt with. The prototype 89-90 was rumored to be faster, with better handling, braking, and cheaper than the Corvette, though I seriously doubt it would have replaced the Corvette as GM's flagship sports car. Mon Feb 01 2010One of the best built Pontiac's ever. Inexpensive yet High build quality. Safe, as it did excellent in crash tests. Engineering? It pretty much pioneered the exact fit composite body panels more precision than even a Corvette at the the time. Fire problems isolated to first year over a mechanical and oil issue. Its only hold back was GM itself who limited production and availability of performance which could have potentially put the flagship Corvette at severe risk. With engine behind the driver gave excellent leg room to stretch out. Long term... Soon to very collectable

Tue Jan 12 2010I have owner 6 over the last 10 years and will own several more before I am done. I think they where one of the better designs to come from an american car company in many years. And for those folks out there thinking about getting a car for there kid, what better than a car that is good on gas and not overly powered and protects the passengers. Plus there is no back seat to get them into trouble.

Thu Apr 30 2009My friend had a Fiero when I was in high school and I thought it was pretty damn cool. Sure, it was always broken down, but reliability is not exactly a priority for a high school student.

Fri Nov 21 2008An engineering lemon? A FWD package (in the rear) successfully used on many other GM models with a revolutionary space frame technology that is still used today. That coupled with the fact that the Fiero got one of the highest crash safety ratings in GM's history (check it out if you don't believe it) makes it one great car. I've been waiting for 14 years for mine to "burst into flames". Please keep hating on them so I can keep buying them cheap! Wed Nov 12 2008My favourite thing about the Fiero was watching my friend Clive try to get his bag of hockey equipment and two sticks into the passenger side of the car every week. If you filmed it with no sound in herky-jerky black and white it would have looked like an old Charlie Chaplin one reel short.

Sat Feb 23 2008Great listing- but I have to go with a three because I still see a few of these on the DC beltway. . .my favorite negative review on a Fiero- "The weight of the engine [near the rear] tends to cause the car to crack down the middle." Err. . .CS walks straight for the Japanese dealership and passes the Pontiac store. . .

Sat Feb 23 2008The best car I have ever owned. I bought my 1988 GT in November of 1987. This car never disappoints me. Any problems I had with it were repaired under warranty and I haven't had any major problems with it in the 20+ years that I've owned it.
