Wed Oct 27 20100 stars I recently switch from puppy chow to exclusive only to find staples mixed in with the food! I thought I was doing the right thing by upgrading little Bodhi's food but now I am not so sure.

Tue Aug 10 2010I am an owner of a Sheltie, Pappillion and a Princess Cat all of which eat the PMI Exclusive line of pet foods. My cat has been on it since she was a kitten and it's amazing her coat is soft and shiney and the cat hardly sheds, my two dogs maintain perfect weight and their poops are very small and their coats are also beautiful people are constantly asking me what I am feeding them. I am also the owner of a Farm Store and have been retailing this product for the last 4 years and all my dog and cat owners swear by it. Breeders love it and I have never in all the years of selling had anyone return a bag to me. I give a guarantee when they buy it, if they can't get their dog or cat to eat it bring it back and I will refund 100% of their purchase. This is a quality product that I would recommend, there are higher priced products on the market but in my opinion they are not of exceedingly better quality.

Fri Jan 15 2010I've tried almost every dog food on the market for my young adult lab now 2-1/2. My 14-1/2 year old lab mix can eat anything without a problem. However, my young lab reacted to each and every dog food. Canidae gave her head tremors. Purina dried her skin and hair out so badly that she lost patches of hair and shed terribly. Dad's was ok, but her coat wasn't shiny and she shed alot. Other more expensive dog food gave her diarrhea. HOWEVER, I came across Exclusive at my local feed store about 6 months ago. They recommended it and have tripled their sales in the last few months due to being such a great dog food! This dog food has been FANTASTIC!!! She is in EXCELLENT HEALTH! Her teeth are great! NO SHEDDING! HAIR IS SO SHINY, SOFT, AND VERY LITTLE SHEDDING! Stool is firm..... AND SHE LOVES IT!.... Well, she loves anything she can eat. Well, as for my 14-1/2 year old. She is very picky since a puppy and HER HAIR HAS NEVER LOOKED BETTER!!! She eats it right up! This is THE BEST ... Read more

Tue Oct 13 2009I have rescued six dogs and my dog food bill is out of sight! I used Wellness for years, but switched to Exclusive. All my dogs like it, they are very healthy, and seldom need vetting except for yearly routine visits. The dogs don't have runny stools or smelly breath. The price is right, the ingredients are healthy, and I'm satisfied. Someone mentioned their dog's teeth got dirtier quicker. Not the case. My dogs get fresh marrow bones and their teeth are beautiful. My 13 year old Eski has never had his teeth cleaned and my vet said he doesn't need them cleaned.

Thu Oct 08 2009Totally bummed! I breed Dachshunds & I switched to this food about 6 months ago. I was very impressed at first b/c their poop was less stinky & their coats were silky smooth... Now, my last bag had nasty MOLD in it. Their customer service is also terrible. They do not offer puppy kits, & when I called they said they would send out some coupons for y puppy buyers and I have yet to see them 2 months later. Totally bummed...off to find a new dog food, one without mold & good customer service!!!

Sat Aug 01 2009We have had our 3 yr old black lab on the pmi lamb & rice for about a year now and get compliments from everyone who sees her about how beautiful her coat is, recently she had to go about 4 days without the food as the place I buy it from was out and had to order it in for me after the 3rd day of being off the pmi food she developed a limp and I swear it is from not having her food as it has the glucosamine in it for healthy joints, just picked up 2 bags this morning will see how she does once she's been back on it for a few days! I would recommend this dog food for anyone!

Fri Jun 26 2009I have a border collie/lab cross female who has a tendency to gain weight and a German Shorthaired Pointer who is a high energy male. The female has been on the Reduced Fat Exclusive for 3 years and is being fed right what the label recommends and looks great. She gets regular exercise and has maintained a healthy weight easily. Much improved over the Iams I used to feed. The GSP I adopted a year ago and he has done very well on the regular Chicken and Rice. Within two months his coat improved dramatically and he gained just the right amount of muscle and weight. (He was slightly underweight with all ribs slightly visible. Resuce Group fed ProPlan.) Now with increased fitness he is being switched to the Performance blend to maintain his condition at a higher workload. The 35lb bags usually run $30-35 (after buy 6 and 7th is free) at my feed store. Great value for the ingredients and results. Added plus ... I have babysat a variety of dogs over the past 3 years on all kinds of diff... Read more

Sun May 10 2009I have a Doberman that has a sensitive stomach and skin allergies. I also have a Belgian Malinois that has a lame leg. I had tried many "recommended" dog foods (Innova EVO, Eagle Pac, Nutra...) in the past. I was walking through the dog store one day and found Exclusive chicken and rice. It was the lowest price of all the dog food that had no meal or by products in the first two ingredients. So I tried it. My Doberman has no more bald spots from itchy irritated skin! Both of their coats are shinny and thick. The muscle tone has improved greatly. Stool size is 1/2 the size as before Exclusive. My Malinois lame leg has even improved. I can't say enough good things about this dog food. Now I am going to buy the cat food also!

Fri May 01 2009I have a German Shepherd that will eat anything and a German Shepherd that will not eat anything I have changed to so many Dog Foods it is not funny to please him and get him to eat he was also underweight because of this problem. Someone told me about Exclusive Lamb and Rice and that it did not have any By Products nor Meal I found a place that sold it checked out the label and of course the first two ingredient are importent, sre enough no y Products or Meal. My German Shepherd ate this and of course the other hog did too and he has been on it for a year now, their coats are so shiny and people ask me all the time how am I getting their coats so shiny. My mom and a couple of friends now use this food and love it too, my mom did switch to California Natural for a couple of months and quit and went back to Exclusive, The Vet told her to try CN. I stand behind this Dog Food and the bad reviews on here I really wonder if those people even tried the food or on here just bad mouthing. I ... Read more

Wed Apr 15 2009I am a breeder, owner, handler/trainer of Pointers and have been involved in the breed going on 12 years now. I own two dogs currently,a 9 yr old male pointer and a 10 mo old female Pointer. I would have to say, FOR THE MONEY, this is one of the better dog foods I have come across. I do generally categorize myself as a "dog food snob" unfortunately, probably stemming from my love of my breed, and needing to keep them in great show condition and having a BS in Animal Science. If I had it my way, I would feed raw or at least a kibble along the lines of Wellness CORE, but I digress. I recently lost my job and found the need to switch to a cheaper brand of food, but did not want to lose much of the quality ( I was feeding Merrick, which my dogs loved). I found Merrick formula to be a bit rich for my senior dog (even on the senior formula he had loose stools every day, and yes, I did a gradual change over). For a VERY long time I fed Canidae EXCLUSIVELY, I was very passionate about this ... Read more

Wed Jan 21 2009This is not a bad dog food, but it is certainly not the best you can get. The first few ingreds are good, but the product still contains corn gluten meal and beet pulp, with some formulas also containing brewers rice and corn. These ingreds do not belong in your pets diet, they are common sources for allergies. If you really want the best, go for something from Natura, makers of Innova and EVO, which is an all natural non-grain line of food. Check out dogfoodanalysis.com if you really care about your pet.

Sat Jan 10 2009For the people bashing PMI Exclusive like puppyloverkb, get your facts straight. I was guaranteed by PMI that it does not use Ethoxyquin in their food. Also maybe yu need to read the ingredients on a bag. I use Exclusive Large breed Chicken / chicken meal for my Rottweilers and I'm very pleased with it and the service that PMI reps give me. If you want to bash then contact PMI and tell them your great knowledge I'm sure they would like to hear from an expert.

Fri Jan 09 2009I have show Giant Schnauzers that I have been feeding the Lamb and Rice to and I always get comments on their beautiful shiny coats from judges and other exhibitors. My dogs love Exclusive. My breeder sent me one of her males that had been a picky eater, after he was eating Exclusive he is begging for more. I have one that is allergic to chicken which is in a lot of dog foods and she has a very sensitive stomach, she hasn't had the first problem on this food. This is the best. Thank you PMI Exclusive.

Sat Dec 06 2008My English Mastiffs are on PMI Exclusive, Chicken forumula for three months, Solid Gold Wolf King for two months (very expensive) then back on to Exceed Lamb and Rice for three months. This rotation I keep throughout the year and my dogs look fabulous. They are lean, shiney coated and in top notch condition. These are not overweight Mastiffs they are big and huge but healthy. My vet said "don't change a thing" about the diet they are on. I highly recommend.I am not sure what an earlier reviewer was talking about but the first ingredient in Exclusive is NOT corn. It is chicken, followed by chicken meal. All meat in Exclusive is fresh, not frozen. I got into a debate with a Science diet rep who insisted that SD had corn listed as a first ingredient only because they used fresh chicken, and if other dog foods used fresh chicken, then corn and other fillers would be listed first..I just chuckled...whatever.I am not a PMI Exlusive rep. I could care less what people feed their dogs, but I a... Read more

Tue Oct 21 2008I have fed Canidea for 4 years (standard poodles) They changed the formula this year. I took 4 weeks to change over from the old formula to the new. I had heard a lot of complaints about the new Canidea formula causing loose yellow stools and other gastric disturbances. I had absolutely no problem along those lines, but had a darned awful time just getting them to eat the new formula. At this point I can not entice them to eat it at all. Which means something to me. It has also gotten quite pricey with a reduced package weight. I am beginning a switch to PMI Chicken and rice and/or the lamb and rice. The higher protein content that all the dog food companies are going to is a little bit of a concern. At this point the food appears to be very palatable for them and without gastric upsets. No allergic symptoms so far.

Sun Sep 14 2008This food caused a huge build up of plaque on my dogs' teeth. After a few nights of eating it he got bored with the bland flavor and left it. It also gave him terrible diarrhea. He had a hard time chewing the kibble too. He just hated the taste of it.

Wed Aug 20 2008Natural ingredents and Exclusive does not include the bones of animals when they are caculating the protein content. My dogs love it!

Fri Aug 08 2008I have been involved in dog showing, breeding, training and now just as pets. PMI Exclusives is the absolute best food I have ever used. I recommend it to everyone.

Thu Jul 10 2008I have been using Exclusive for two months now. I changed over from Puring One which I bought from Sams Club and the jacked up the price....so, I did a little homework and found out that across the street from my Sam's Club was a little feed store called Mary's. I learned that Exclusive was NOT the same company that Purina One was, and that Exclusive was MUCH better than Purina One too. They offered me a sample, and I bought a large bag of Lamb and Rice formula (I raised Standard Poodles) They also have a program where you get the seventh bag free.....That is a great deal.

Tue May 27 2008Purina Mills is Land O Lakes and not Nestle Purina, there is a huge differnce. Purina Mills Land O Lakes was going broke in the late 60s and Nestle helped PMI out financially. There is a huge difference in the quality of food in Purina that you buy at the local Super Store than you buy in a Purina Land O Lakes dealer. The exclusive dog food is the best dog food you can buy for your dogs and cats. It is affordable and your animals will digest their food better, have smaller stools because there is no by-products that the animal is not going to poop out. The fish meal is used for the Omega 3 and 6 which everyone should have in their diets. Overall this is the best food you could buy!!

Fri May 09 2008Best food I've found for working dogs, overweight dogs, and dogs with joint disorders. Fantastic product. Kept our border collie with double hip dysplacia from having to have surgery. We can't praise the product enough.

Mon May 05 2008We raise Toy and Miniature Poodles. Woudn't feed anything else. As some of the others have said....great coats, they love to eat it, and one put on a little weight. Definitely worth the little extra money for all the added benefits!

Sat Jan 26 2008Well, my 3 dogs have been on this food for a week now and they absolutely LOVE IT!!! My old 14 year old dog has his appetite back and is putting on some weight. He is even getting up and going outside 4 or 5 times a day when before he would just sleep all day and maybe go out once or twice a day and have accidents on his bed every morning. His hips hurt him and they don't work all that well. We have to help him get up sometimes. He has not had an accident since eating this food. It appears the Glucosomine in the food must be helping him feel better. My JRT and young pit mix seem to love it also. They have never showed so much enthusiasm about a dog food, even the expensive brands like Merrick didn't excite them. My dogs are pretty lean (not skinny), but since being on this PMI Exclusive Chicken and Rice, they are putting on some weight and my JRT's hotspot by his tail is completely gone...For the price, it can't be beat, and they actually like it. That's a plus...the only thing is that ... Read more

Wed Nov 14 2007I have a male liver German Short Haired Pointer. He weighs about 75lbs and is a great dog. I try to keep him at his optimal weight, he is on the large side for a GSP. His coat usually tells me a great deal about a dog food. I was feeding him chicken and rice Exceed brand dog food from Sam's Wholesale Club. His coat became a little lack luster, it got light rust colored streaks in it. It also appeard dry. I switched to Canidae and it almost immediately turned to a deep glossy liver color. It was so dark the liver almost looked black! The white on his coat was also shinier. He had a better look in his eyes and seemed to feel great. You could easily tell the Canidae was a far superior food than Exceed. WELL even though he looked and felt great on Canidae it was very expensive and I had to drive over an hour one way to get it (I live in a very rural community). With gas being so expensive I decided to do some research and find a food my local Co-op could get and give it a try... Read more

Wed Apr 25 2007Your right, PMI is not Purina....its actually worse!!! The first ingredient in most of their formulas is Growned Yellow Corn. The first ingredient in any food should be a NAMED meat product. Not a grain. Their next few ingredients in any/all of their products are more corn and one of the worst ingredients known to the pet food industry...Meat and Bone Meal. AAFCO definition: The rendered product from mammal tissues, with or without bone, exclusive of any added blood, hair, hoof, horn, hide trimmings, manure, stomach and rumen contents except in such amounts as may occur unavoidably in good processing practices. Remeber all those horror stories about road kill and euthanized dogs and cats going into pet food? This is the ingredient!!! The animal they use can be from any source!!! Most of the time, they are animals that are dead, diseased, dying or disabled (4D) This is also where the dogs and cats come in. What do you think they do with all those animals they put to sleep in the pound... Read more

Wed Apr 25 2007Purina Mills is NOT Purina Feed. Totally different company, totally different feed. Purina Mills = PMI Nutrition (http://www.purinamills.com/, http://www.pminutrition.com/) Really good food Purina One, Beneful etc. = Purina (http://www.purina.com/) Crap food you find in the supermarket

Thu Nov 30 2006Purina Mills Dog food huh? Isn't that wahat One and Pro Plan are, and those 2 are crap!

Sat Sep 30 2006Great ingrediants. Read the lable @PMINutrition.com and click on to Exclusive. Adult Lamb and Puppy have been great for our boxers (7) and our 10+yr old GSD with failing hips, is doing better. Maintaining a healthy weight and 5 year old like energy.

Thu Sep 21 2006Good, sound product. I really liked their senior formula....it can be difficult to find.
