Tip heavily. And I always say - "Remember this house."

Provided its even close to on time, I tip every time. Usually to the nearest unit of five bucks, or add a couple of bucks if its $14.93.

Yeah, they probably make more than me, but I'd say their job sucks way more than mine, too. I mean, customer service jobs suck, but at least I don't have to walk up to some stranger's door and have it open to all sorts of possibly crazy things (seriously, even just going door to door trying to find a cat's owner in my apartment complex a few years back let me know that I had some pretty bizarre neighbors. Wouldn't want to know what that's like when you have to drive all around town.) And you know what? They tend to be pretty grateful if you tip them decently, at least the ones around where I used to live (don't get much in the way of pizza delivery, now that I moved). And they remember it, too.

Yeah, but I'm probably not going to make sure I give him 20%. Unless I'm ordering a ridiculous amount of pizza, he's getting $2 whether my bill is $10 or $50.

Yes, always tip the pizza delivery person. If it's late or something is wrong w/the food, it's probably not his or her fault. It kind of goes along w/that 'don't shoot the messenger' phrase.

I am always surprised to hear people say 'I tip waiters, but not delivery guys.' I mean, the delivery guys job is cushier than a waiters, but the waiter probably did not risk his life to bring you your order. They have to drive in thunderstorms and snowstorms, spend most of the time in rush hour traffic, put up with jerks and tear up their cars just so your fat-ass can eat a pizza. I always tip these guys generously and in cash. However, with the recent inflation of the delivery charge on top of the tip, I've just been picking it up myself lately.

The pizza delivery guy is essentially a waiter that has to deal with traffic, weather, red lights, dogs, and the possibility of getting rolled every time they go out. If the person they are delivering to has a problem or gets irate because of the time it took to get there, they are on thier own. There is no manager that can come to the rescue of a delivery driver. I've never delivered pizzas, but I have been a delivery driver and it can be a thankless job. Tip 'em.

Yes, but the amount depends on the service.

These people don't get paid much, have to deal with traffic and weather, and work long hours. If you are too lazy/busy to go to the pizza shop yourself, you better be tipping.

I used to deliver pizzas many years ago when the kids were little to make a few extra dollars while my wife wasn't working. The pay is not great so any extra made in tips is much appreciated. PDGs sometimes aren't given much time to get your pizza to you on time and in most cases they do. Remember why you ordered - because you didn't want to make the trip to the pizza place and back. The PDG is out in all kinds of weather so you can be safe at home waiting for your meal while he takes the risks on the road. Definitely tip!

Oh, come on. Anyone who doesn't give 20% for the pizza brought to your house must be a lefto who thinks the government should do everything and have everyone on welfare.

Sure we do, but 20% seems pretty steep, especially compared to the work that a waiter or waitress has do. 10% rounded up to the nearest dollar, if on time and hot. The pizzas hot, I mean.

I live out in the boonies, so delivery guys won't come out here anyway...but yes, I'd certainly tip any delivery guy. I have a friend who works for a local pizza joint, and as numbah said, I have certainly heard the stories of what they deal with on a daily basis.

The Hatter (my roomate who has been missing here of late!) used to deliver pizza, so I always tip my pizza guy well on account of the crap Hatter has taken in that line of work.
