Awesome experience. The place was jammed with partygoers for halloween, yet the staff ever so patiently helped me into a wonderful costume....

The staff really care. You can tell that they like working there since they are so upbeat and willing to help. The costumes are seriously nice, and are custom tailored to you. It was like playing dress-up. We rented two really nice quality costumes and bought some accessories to go with them. Next time I need a costume, I will be back.

I went there to find costumes for a Victorian themed wedding me and my wife had to go to, and it was a great experience from the moment we stepped in the shop. I admit I didn't have any idea what to expect, but the staff member we worked with was very helpful so our costumes were unique and very stylish. I'm definitely going there for Halloween next year.

I was in recently for make-up purchases for a high school theater show that I was helping out on; my son is in the show and I'm helping with the make-up and costumes. The staff was very nice and helpful and they helped me to figure out what would work best for the show, (we have 40 kids in the show). We are doing standard stage makeup with some 3D effects and stage-blood. The place was huge and they seemed to know where everything was and were very quick about finding things. The staff also seemed to really care about the shop which was very clean and inviting. They were actually cleaning as I was in and changing their displays and obviously having fun! It must be the best place on earth to work!! I will be back again and not just for my son's school plays!

I am a regular at this place. I am in the event and promotions business. I obviously need an establishment that always comes through for me. Pierre's always sets the bar higher and higher! They are very, very creative and the staff are whizzes at brainstorming and helping me plan my events (I get all the credit). There is practically nothing they can't find, make, or locate at Pierre's Costumes. they do far more than costumes as well, they offer shoes, hats, masks, wigs, table dressings, props, swords, makeup, and so much more. Bottom line is, before you assume they don't have it, ask to speak to a manager, and they can probably get it, or it is hiding in a corner of the huge shop (it stretches from 3rd street almost to 2nd street). The people there are nice, friendly and ever so nice to work with. I will not go anywhere else.

They really enjoy their jobs at Pierre's costumes, that is obvious. Everyone is smiling at this place - customers and employees. This is not your cheesy halloween store, this is the real deal where you will get waited on hand and foot and end up felling very, very special. the nice thing at the end of this is that I actually ended up spending less than I would have at a party store, and spent lots less time and definitely had a lot less in the way of headaches. They are even able to help you with accessories, makeup, and wigs after they help yo with the costumes. I also found some great shoes to match my outfit as well. You feel guilty taking up all of their time there, but they do it all with a great attitude and a smile. I would suggest that you visit before you need the outfit. I saw people walking in on Saturday when I picked up my rental costume, and they were a little panicked (the staff were still nice to them) since they needed costumes that night! All I had to d... I use Pierre's for my theatre costumes. They have been helping me for years. They are very, very knowledgable and always come through for me. I like the quality of the costumes they offer and the prices cannot be beaten. The staff are always creative and have an extremely artistic flair when it comes to pulling great looking costumes for a show. The costumes always seem to look complete and dress the stage well and I never need to do anything in the way of alterations since they do all of that for me. Working with Pierre's is almost like cheating since I tell them what I want, and they provide it for me cheaper than I could do it myself. They have so much in the way of inventory, that I always know they can fit the large range of actors that I have in my cast and that even the smallest or largest performers will still get a nice looking outfit.

Love to shop here. The staff make it really easy to find what you want and the selection is really great. Nice prices are an added bonus too. I really can't think of anything they could not do at Pierre's they have makeup, wigs, hats, props, elaborate costumes, and tons of accessories at this enormous shop. Not only do they have lots of items in stock, but they also custom make stuff too as well as custom order large quantities (at a discount) for parties too. I can't think of any other place like this in the tri-state area. This is an old fashioned costume shop, but with up to date looking costumes and hip acting staff that are eager to please.

I spent a couple of hours visiting some of the "so-called" costume shops that list themselves in the phone book. Don't waste your time with them! Pierre's Costumes is the place to visit first if you want to save your time. They have everything the others have and lots more. Plus the staff are nicer and the prices lower too. I seriously wish I had gone there first! I found everything I needed for my event at this place from make-up to hats and wigs as well as the entire costume that I needed for the several people on the board of our event. The manager offered to get more stock in since I wanted over 100 masks (cheap ones) for give away items. They really are nice there and are accommodating. They have lots of parking outside and I found that if you park on the side of the building it is free (3 hour). Getting back onto the highway was simple and the entire process was very simple. I will be visiting them again next time I need something in the costume world.

I was in recently to get a few last minute pieces needed for my Halloween costume and was amazed at the place! The have so much there and it just seemed to be a awesomely creative place to go! I had seen them on the news recently with Santa talking about the place and when I came in Santa was there getting a new suit! I found out from overhearing the staff talking with Santa that they do custom design as well as working with Halloween customers and was amazed at their abilities! This place totally rocked and my experience with the staff was awesome! They were very helpful and I found the accessories I needed for my Cleopatra costume! Awesome necklaces at very reasonable prices! Next year I will defintely being going back and this time renting something from them! I understand that the rentals range in price depending on what you get but that it rarely goes over $125 for a costume but the quality you get is amazing! The manager even showed me the gown she was going to wear for Hallow... Read more

I just picked up my halloween costume, and all I can say is it is awesome! The staff were very accommodating with my indecisive nature. This place has so much stuff that it really is hard to make up your mind. The people that work here are all very nice and are really well informed in what things should look like. They really are experts at what they do. Considering how swamped this place is, it was running like a well oiled machine. They were restocking walls, running into the warehouse and answer phone calls with helpful answers. i really felt bad for them. The guy that worked with me told me that they do theatre the rest of the year so that next week they will enjoy a little rest. I guess theatre is easy after the crazy masses descending upon you at once! They also have makeup and wigs to round out your costume. If you are going to a nice event, make sure you stop in at Pierre's costumes, they will take good care of you.

I was just logging on to write a review about how nice my experience was with Pierre's Costumes. I could not let the previous poster's message sit without commenting on it. My friends and I were at Pierre's Costumes during this "so called" incident. It is funny how people see things in a different light. Nothing could be further from the truth. This lady was rude to the all of the staff. She monopolized their time for well over 20 minutes while talking loudly on her cellular phone. She was standing at the front counter and blocking access for other customers who were returning their rentals from the weekend, and was in the way for other customers who were trying to get their new rentals written up. As I heard it, this was all over her lack of understanding how credit card worked. Her problem was with her bank, not with Pierre's costumes. She was on the phone with her bank and was very loud and complaining throughout obviously wanting everyone to hear her. It was obvious tha... Read more

My husband & I rented 2 pieces/$200 worth of costumes from this shop a couple of days ago. The shop is large & overwhelming. Most employees seem friendly though in a rush. As I was returning the items, I inquired about the $200 'deposit' which showed up as a charge on my online statement. The employee who was helping me out told me to go ahead & call the bank to sort it out. As I was making the call, the owner (an overweight guy with short light brown hair & greenish eyes) was clearly irritated. He was speaking at me about rules of banks as I was on the phone. As I proceeded to ask if someone would talk to the bank for a second to verify the $200 deposit, he refused "I don't talk on someone else's cell phone" adding "how do I know who is on the other line?". He then proceeded to tell me the bank can call his number if they want to talk & that I was taking up his counter space. I didn't know it was their policy to not help you get your $200 deposit back. As I was trying to explain, he c... Read more

The staff are so friendly and helpful. They have so much stuff here that it is really hard to narrow things down to what to get. I knew I would be able to get something once I arrived, but the question was what. they were patient and worked with us even though we were clueless. I was really impressed with their knowledge and ability to stay cool under the crowds and clueless people in the shop. The two staffers that worked with us were both theatre college grads and it showed. They had very creative minds and were able to put together pretty unique outfits for us that we woudl not have been able to come up with ourselves. The prices are not rock bottom, but honestly they are reasonable. I would have spent more going to a party store or a thrift store and putting my own outfit together. They had extended Halloween hours and were open later than listed on this site (I don't remember exact times - call them). This place is enormous. They have so much stuff that you can fin... When my partner and I went in to get costumes for a party, we explained what we were looking for and were instructed to just "look around". Even though we were the only ones in the store, this manger-type told his employees that "we were fine...and didn't need help" when in fact we did! When one employee FINALLY was helping us put something together, this manger said "we are closing on time, at 6"...it was 5:45 and we had been in there for half an hour! The price of the costumes we wanted to rent were very arbitrarily decided. This manager told us $75, but the manager who rung us up told us $50. No consistency on prices, very reluctant to help, not a single friendly face. Go someplace else...ANYPLACE else.

In Short Pierre's brings a bright bit of old-fashioned fun to artsy Old City. The two-floor costume shop has clothed Philadelphia theater companies for decades. Now, Pierre's boasts more than a million "pieces" of rentable outfits, including giant chicken heads, astronaut suits, beauty-queen gowns and more house-made outfits from almost every time period in history. Rental prices range between $55 and $125 and require a deposit. Stage makeup and costumes can also be purchased.

I had been asked to attended a charity event for my local hospital for individuals that had been hospitalized here before Christmas. I had order a Mrs. Claus costume from another company originally and they could not even find my order the Monday that I called them, so I called back on Tuesday and told the company not to even bother sending the costume because I could not wait for them and I had to go to another company for the suit. I needed the costume quickly and ended up ordering from Pierre's on Monday (I found the website by accident) The costume was a little pricey, but for the quality, service and my costume arrived undamaged and earlier than I thought, I think it was worth it. I wil be coming back to the online website for my next costume and I am recommending the same to my family.

They have everything there. I had such a hard time making my mind up last Halloween. I have stopped in several times for fake blood, wigs, and funny props and novelties. They sell and rent costumes, but I like renting costumes because the quality is really high end. They treat you well and create the look around your comments. If you can't find it there, you probably wont find it.

The theater director of my school has been using Pierre's Costumes for years! The prices are reasonable, the costumes are great, the people are helpful: what more can you ask for? The costumes they're provided have really made all of our theater events so much better. It's such a relief to know that every year we have a reliable souce for all of our needs!

I dragged my boyfriend to Pierre's when I decided that we needed killer costumes one year. We looked great-- I got a custom-made Cleopatra costume, and I got the guy to wear a Marc Antony Roman soldier get up! But heads up, this place will cost you. Each costume was $100, and although Halloween was on a Thursday, they wouldn't let us have the costumes for all the weekend parties we wanted to wear them to. For that price, I think they should give you at LEAST 3 days!
