Wed Jan 05 2011Worst Norelco shaver I've owned, I've had Norelcos since I was a teenager 40 years ago. And this is the 2nd one of these, first replaced after 6 months, and this one is going back too. Runs at 1/2 speed a week or 2 after charge and customer support tells me I should let the battery run lower. Don't know about you but I can't shave with a razor running at 40% effectivenes. When it is working it drags more than any electric i've used. the trimmer is a joke, doesn't even come out far enough to trim clean. The cleaning system has no time out so it's up to you to un plug it before it "OVER CHARGES" I have other things to do beside watch the time on my razor cleaning. Don't buy this razor! I'm on hold with norelco as I'm typing this to complain to a supervisor and see if I can trade for a different model, the agent says I can't. I don't beleive that, guess customer satisfaction isn't a priority! Just hung up, nope they can only replace it with the same unit. Guess I'll replace it every 6 m... Read more

Fri Dec 05 2008I have been a Norelco user for over 20 years. Over that time, there have been some models that have worked and others that haven't. This one doesn't. I really wanted to like this shaver. It looks so good and is advertised as their newest and best, but sadly, it's not a shaver worth keeping. It looks great, feels good in your hand and is pleasantly quiet, but that's it. It doesn't shave that well and in fact misses more hair that it should around the neck. The floating moving heads are too soft to allow pressure to be placed under the neck where it's needed and I often felt that I was going to break it as I pushed it under and around my neck to try (without much success) and cut the hairs under and to the sides of my neck. I have tried the Brauns and other electric shavers over the years to look for that next and best shaver.. I always end up back with Norelco, and sadly, this one was not a keeper for me. The floating head design (which attracted me to the shaver) was the thing t... Read more

Sat Nov 29 2008First new shaver I had in 10 years. I had the older version and enjoyed it. Got this one and the first thing I noticed was that the power cord would not directly fit into the shaver. You will always need one of the two plastic recharger fixtures to work for you to recharge it. Both appear to be cheaply made and will warp such that soon I would expect to not be able to use them. It is good they gave you two. Second thing I noticed was the angle of incline of the heads. It is right at a right-angle to vertical. The early model is near 45 degrees. This makes you have to hold it very differently. Third thing I noticed was the sound is a much higher pitch and is simply noisy. The fourth thing I noticed is that the heads a almost all plastic unlike the earlier version I have. You change the unit using two metal prongs on each side of the shaver. I am sure that these will corrode soon as will make additional problems with changing. Again no plug-in possible to the ... Read more

Fri Nov 28 2008I have tested many brands of electric shavers over the decades but I have stayed with Norelco because I prefer their design and performance. My present Norelco, about 5 years old, is still going strong but needs a new battery so I thought I'd try the Arcitec 1060. It looks very high-tech with its articulated heads, but the bottom line is it shaves no better than my old model. I actually shaved half my face with the Arcitec and the other half with my old one. There was not the slightest difference in the closeness and I had the same amount of stubble on both sides 24 hours later. What's more, my old Norelco still has its original blades! It's also more solid and I think it's nicer to use. Also, the Arcitec has very little space beneath the cutters to hold the beard clippings, so you have to wash the heads after every use. Not a big deal, but I wash my old heads maybe once a week. So the Arcitec is going back. My advice to those in need of a new shaver: Try one of Norelco's cheaper model... Read more

Mon Nov 17 2008I bought this thinking this work well, this was the second electric shaver I am using and I thought my beard was not very tough, especially with the razors and cream. However, I guess it is tough, as this shaver took forever to shave the easiest shaves. My neck would always have left over hair, which would mean that I would have to shave the way I normally did earlier with my razor and cream, so it does not make sense at all for me at least to buy this product and sadly, it does not work for me.

Sun Nov 16 2008This is the first time i'm actually using an electric razor and I did review a lot before buying the Norelco 1050. Its quiet, lasts as long as specified and gives a pretty good shave to the face. CONS: The shave to the neck is not that good and since I like to have a real clean shave I end up using my razor once in a while to finish the job! Overall a decent product. ( I have used the shave for more than 20 days so this isnt a biased review )
