Not to appear blasphemous, but this listing reminds me of an old Redd Foxx joke. Guy is in a hotel room with nothing to do and he picks up a Gideon Bible. When he opens it, he finds on the inside cover the words, "If you're lonely, and in need of comfort, read Philippians 4:13." He finds the passage, and on the bottom of the page is scrawled, "If you're still in need of comfort after reading this, call Margie, 715-647-9999...."

"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." This needs no explanation, as those who have Jesus as their Savior can trust in Him to strengthen them when they need it. This is one powerful Scripture.

One of the most important verses in the New Testament. Sometimes a task is so daunting that it may seem near impossible. In those cases, it requires extra strength that may not be within you to do it. God's promise helps me in such situations, and looking back at those trying times, it really wasn't as tough as I made it made out to be in my mind. Sometimes a little faith, endurance, and clear thinking helps you clear these patches. The lesson? We tend to make mountains out of molehills. Nothing is ever so difficult that it's virtually impossible to solve. Faith and fear in the final analysis are forces that oppose each other. Faith perpetuates action; fear paralyzes and drags down.

I never gave that scripture much creedence due to the fact that I was the one going through what I was going through and I never felt, nor believed that Christ was in any way there alongside me going through it with me or causing me to be stronger whenever I came out of things.

"I can do everything through him who gives me strength. " I have seen similar ways this is said depending on which bible you have. this is a comforting one for me. especially when going through a very hard time.

It's a great verse, but as far as being influential, I just don't think it's used enough to get five stars. There are plenty of Bible verses which are familiar to the general public in Western society, but this is not one of them.

"I can do everything through him who gives me strength." An encouraging verse that gives hope to the reader. God is our strength and because of his strength we can find peace and rest.

Wouldn't it have been nice to quote the verses of the list in the place where the related websites are mentioned? Quoting them in the list itself would have been a good alternative.Though I was interested in the list and know what's behind many of the items,  I feel kind of excluded from a club of insiders. And I said to myself: I'll get to another list that's easier to handle. My favorite deadly sin is sloth. Sorry.

I think this is one of the most influencial verses to me. I think of it anytime I have to do something outside my comfort zone. If I'm having trouble with something and it's aggravating, I'll remind myself, that God can help you do anything.

After talking about learning to be content in the previous verse, this verse says 'I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.' This shows us what our source of strength should be and the fact that through the power of the Holy Spirit, nothing is impossible for us. Paul has made this statement a few times.

Paul said that he LEARNED to be content. It was not something he knew how to do. This is a key to contentment -- something everyone wants.
