I'm from Jersey, of course I love Jersey... I've tried to remain neutral with Philadelphia fans, heck considering that I now live in south jersey where everyone is a Philadelphia fan I have even found my self longing to root for their teams, but I just can't do it. Their fans are clearly the worst. I hate the Yankees, I hate the Rangers, but I have other reasons to hate them. They can buy whoever they want whenever they want, NYers hate Jersey (as do people from PA). The Jets and the Giants won't change their name even though they play here, whatever. I could go on, but you know what when it comes down to a championship game I can root for those teams, but I can't with Philly even though I like their players, I like their coaches, heck I even like the city, but again my disgust with Philly is solely based on the fans. They are the most biast fans I have ever met, often whiners, they are in your face and arrogant, often drunk and trying to pick a fight and they have no respect for fans ... Read more

I heard a Care Bear was murdered at an Eagles game. Seriously, while I'm aware that there's a lot of knowledgeable, passionate fans, the worst of the lot do seem to combine some of  the worst attributes of the worst New York and Boston fans.

I'm updating my review to say that I am swinging more towards the "appalled" side of the scale, and away from the "strangely proud."  Philly Fans are, moronically, booing Donovan - who is probably the franchise's best all time QB, is a good guy, and is just off knee surgery.  They tried to break Burrell, to the detriment of the Phils, and now they're not even showing up for games anymore.  The Phillies game was not even close to being sold out last night, despite the fact that they're battling hard for a playoff spot, and the Sixers ranked 29th (out of 30) in attendance.  I think the media gives Philly Fans too much credit, and the so called passion is a bit overrated. Original Comment: As a lifelong Philly fan I am both appalled and strangely proud of the behavior of my fellow eagles/sixers/flyers/phillies fans. On the plus side, an away playoff game in philly can be seriously intimidating. Fans from the visiting team are warned by travel agents to lay low in Philly. The volume a... Read more

It has been said that they would boo an Easter Egg hunt, and they are on record as booing an old-timers baseball game, as well as a father's sons game. I've had the misforture to see a Flyers game and Phillies game, and I have seen few more obnoxious fans in professional sports.

Booing Santa set a high benchmark. Being a bad fan has transcended poor taste in Philly, it is a goal, a torch to be passed on and held high.

I take offense to this. PhillyFan is a knowledgeable, passionate, and ardent fan who love their teams more than life itself and deify their sports heroes. Dick Vermeil is still considered a local hero, as is Dr. J and Mike Schmidt (You too could have been a Philly God, Terrell Owens). Some people perceive PhillyFans passion and overexuberance as goonism. It is all myth. I've seen games in other cities and seen thuggery and violence that would make PhillyFan wince in disgust. I was at FedEx field recently and felt the boorish behavior of Deadskins fans was both racially motivated and violent (Maybe they were outraged that Dan Snyder was making them pay top dollar for a team whose longest pass of the day was thrown by the punter). PhillyFan is also a suffering fan who hasn't tasted a Major Sports title since the 1983 Sixers. Still PhillyFan supports their team through thick and thin. They may gripe but they attend. Compare to Atlanta fan -- the worst in the world. The Hawks dr... Read more

Everybody step back, yes I am a philly fan. This is the only town in America where the athletes don't get away with murder/rape/drunk-driving. You have to perform or pack your bags. I'll take this atmosphere over any other town or media center that apologizes and protects athletes that cross the law. The fans aren't victims here- not every town in America can say that. (1) We booed Kobe Bryant because he was an ass long before the trial - and looked how he treated his wife. (2) We booed Micheal Irvin because he was a pompous ass who violated NFL drug policies. Perhaps Philly fans ignore boy-wonder sportswriters who lack the guts or brains to actually challenge athletes who think they can get away with treating the fans like dirt. Not here. Not ever.

As a philly fan, I take great honor and pride in knowing that we booed michael irvin after he lay motionless on the sideline.

Hey...either put up or shut up. Thats what I love about being a philadelphia sports fan. We all work hard and expect nothing less from the extremely high paid athletes representing philly. Who will forget the inspiring for who, for what speech given by the immortal ricky watters. (who is a philly guy and should have know better). He was run out of town. The crap does not fly here.

I really had nothing against them (flyers) until last year at the playoffs. The 7th game against the Leafs. The booed the Canadian National Anthem, and booed Toronto throughout the entire game. Really turned me off.

As a Philly Fan I consider it an honor to be thought of as the worst fans. Just like any opposing player should consider it an honor to be booed by us. It means your worthy of our effort. We have booed Mike Schmidt, Kobe, Micheal Irwin and even Santa Claus. We are loyal, if you give an effort we love you even if you leave us and come back to visit. If you play bad even if you were good earlier in the game we let you know don't take it personal we gotta keep you in check. I am in DC and i went to see a game last year and more than half the stadium were people that drove down to watch them play the crappy skins. That is loyalty if you suck we at least still show up to boo you, its because we care enough to, we are not just fair weather fans.

During the 2003 NFL season, the Eagles came to Jacksonville to play the Jaguars. Few Eagles fans came, but I got to see what the fuss was about. All they did was try to ruin the game for whoever disagreed with them. I was happy when the Jags won so we shut their asses up!
