They attacked Mario for wearing the Raccoon suit. Sometimes they get ahead of themselves on what is cruelty.

They are about as useful as reality tv whores(the Jersey Shore, and Teen mom). I love how they pay that wench Octomom a measy 5,000 to say that her children are unwanted animals. I am pretty sure that their supporters(suckers who donate actual money to their famewhoish organization) would be pleased that their contributions go to Octomom's boxtox fund instead of the animals that PETA claimed to be helping. That money could have gone to saving Fido from the gas chamber.

bs'd If peta felt the same way about humans as they do animals, this world would be just a bit more sane.

As a vegetarian, I think PETA does a good job on some things w/animal cruelty and their investigations. However, PETA is extremely intrusive on a lot of levels.

I am against this animal rights thing. I cannot agree with people who for the love of animals end up doing the wrong things without even realizing what harm they are actually doing to those same animals they try to protect, and not to mention, even harm to ourselves too. Yes, I believe in treating animals right but sometimes killing is neccessary for our own survival and well being. Animals even kill other animals to survive. Everybody need to die sometimes.

PETA is a strict hyproctit service. They break their own rules. Peta has killed more animals then have got adopted. Fur may be murder, Meat may be murder but so is peta. PETA is against owning everyday animals, have a bird in a cage? Your basically a animal abuser. Chaining dogs, or having an outside dog is the end of the world practically. They don't even think it's humane to keep a fish in a tank. Hunting is obviously bad in PETA, but so is fishing. Fur and meat is all so cruel. Even things like animal planet or zoo's and circuses are cruelty. But most of all- having a pet sometimes is bad in peta. Not to mention PETA isn't even kid friendly, kid websites? Not safe, as a child can walk into a PETA porn picture. Whether it's a furcoat pretention or about meat. Peta is harmful too animals and children. And are retards.

PETA is the Bozo the Clown of animal rights organizations. Their protests are more entertaining than harmful. What I wonder is: Are all their female members hot or do they just hand pick the hot ones to participate in the protests?

Whenever I see PETA getting uppity about something, it often appears to be an overreaction to something and the whole campaign just seems stupid to me... Rendering somewhat better campaigns seemingly dumb as well....

Fur is Murder...so is Murder. I feel you PETA but until you are all VEGANS, and not just fightin for the cute ones. I've seen the videos and it's horrible what happens. Trust me that everyone gets what they deserve. I have an issue with PETA then it's cause itself. Celebrities ruin everything. I like you PETA, I don't like the PETA PEople

If you look at the organization from a literal perspective it does even out. Make a feeble attempt to save all the animals and defy the laws of nature (humans are omivores). However, harm other human beings in the process. Seems slightly contrary to me. Then again what in the hell do I know?

These people are traitors to their own species and extremist idiots comparable to those crazy fruitcakes that protest at military funerals and those morons who parade around crowded streets with pictures of abortions. Half of the things they do are meant to incite shock value in order to spread their message, but it often has the opposite effect, with many not taking them seriously. PETA is among the absolute worst that society has to offer.

I've always wondered why some people are so fanatical about animals. Don't get me wrong, I'm a pet owner and care about animals--however not over humans, which the PETA people seem to do. My theory is that an overly sentimental concern for animals involves not facing up to the reality of how particularly nasty life can be out in nature. It is brutal; if predators don't get you, the elements (fire, water, famine) will. Observing nature, life is really just a small flame in a strong wind and it is miracle that any get through, and most don't. It is truly "survival of the fittest". Mother turtles for instance produce over ten thousand eggs so that only a couple dozen actually end up making it all the way to adulthood. So perhaps what underlies concern for animals is a nagging suspicion that our own grasp on human life is very fragile. A lot of the PETA people probably have what you can call a neurosis revolving around survival in the world, which is really at the heart of their i... Read more

I think PETA helps by raising people's awareness about the treatment of animals. It is about the only place to go to get decent information. There is so much animal testing going on still in the name of science that shouldn't be. Other so called animal organizations are just existing as a very slight help. They mainly answer to the state controlled idea. It is true though that people get the idea they are nuts because of some of the things they do. A country would be a better place that treated its animals better. Many people don't realize that the city shelters can be required to give up a percent of their animals for those in need of animals for research purposes.

During all of 2008, PETA found adoptive homes for just seven pets. Just seven animals -- out of the 2,216 it took in. The pound has a better success rate and they kill after 24 hours in some cities. PETA is the worst kind of hypocrite, and frankly, the animal rights movement doesn't need them.

I don't quite get their inclusion on a list of over-rated things. I don't think anyone holds them to a level of esteem that outweighs their worth. They are outspoken advocates for a cause. Their main tactic is shock and outrage. They are fairly effective at catching people's attention and prompting dialogue on their issue of choice. I'm not so sure they are effective at acheiving their desired end though and that's where the recycled synthetic rubber hits the 50% post-consumer by-product ashphalt road. Their hard line seems to be as frequently off-putting as it is convincing. And in a global context, for every kitten cuddling North American teen age girl they convert to veganism, it seems there are 100 Chinese and Indian citizens who are forgoing their traditional veg diet in favour of a corn fed Big Mac a few times a week.

I'm sorry, basic animals such as cows, pigs, etc are and were put on this earth for food. Everyone has their own rights to eat what they want...... but think back several hundred years ago...... sure ppl had gardens, but they also hunted animals for food, so how has that changed???

I don't know, they tend to be quite extreme, and I disagree with a lot they do and say. I think their heart is in the right place, but they are way too extreme at times, and honestly, they make me want to do the opposite of what they say when they use such tactics. Let's just say I would never eat their proposed human milk ice cream that they wanted ben and jerry's to make. That is just disgusting! *yuck* But I do agree about experimentation, and I don't wear fur or leather. Although, I don't see the harm in an animal being in a movie, as long as they are treated well and have handlers. And yes, I am a meat-eater. But above all, I have 3 cats, 3 dogs, and the memory of my first dog who died in 2006, she was with us since I was 11 or 12. They are all life babies to me. And I would never want to see them hurt, it is still heart breaking to think about my Karen, and she died 3 years ago this April. I do love animals, I am not for hunting, but I am not against people who choose to d... Read more

Being a meat eater, but not a leather lover... I think it's natural for humans to eat meat. I think it's impossible for us to hunt, with the way society is set up, so we have to go with farm animals. However, we don't eat a large varity of animals, that we could eat, because we are omnivores, out of respect of nature.

Damn straight!!!!! If I want to eat I steak, I'll eat it, if I want to bet on horseraces, I'll bet on them, if I want to buy a genuine dog fur coat from Burlington Coat Factory-I'll buy it-I don't need these freaking wussy animal rights lunatics telling me I can't do this. If you really want to protect animal rights, encourage the government or somebody to offer low cost spaying and neutering, damn vets are expensive, there are too many damn strays around and overfilled animal shelters.

I have always had a strong belief in the humane treatment of animals and felt that there was a huge amount of truth in the well-known Gandhi quote, "The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated." However, if someone sincerely professes to have love and compassion for living things and yet somehow manages to forget that the human race is part of that mix - then it should be fairly obvious to anyone that this person has some major issues to contend with. PETA has more than proven by its actions that it is a very dangerously misguided organization. Id even go as far as to say they are a socially and psychologically retarded one.  (Waste of space, air and all other resources.)

PETA is like so many special interest groups who feel the need to “enlighten” people. They are arrogant and obnoxious in their belief that they are the moral authority for treatment of all animals. I love animals as much as anybody, PETA just takes everything beyond any sense of reason.  I do believe at one time they had the best of intentions; they just took a wrong turn somewhere and got completely lost.

A repulsive, despicable organization with the ethics of a scorpion. Let me give just one of many examples: Vancouver, Canada, was the operating ground of a serial killer who preyed on prostitutes for over a decade. Finally, a couple of years ago, a suspect was arrested and charged and a long investigation into his pig farm took place which has so far uncovered the DNA traces of over 20 of the 50+ victims. (He has since been convicted) The story has received international coverage. PETA attempted to run a billboard campaign in the city which graphically linked the brutal murders of these women to the slaughter of swine. To their everlasting credit, Viacom, the largest billboard advertising company in North America, refused to run the ads.Spokespeople for PETA describe such campaigns as whimisical. This is just one of dozens of similar incidents in PETAs history. A disgusting bunch of compost eaters. Everytime I hear one of these dehumanized twits start ranting about how a chicken's life...
