Persistence

He reminds me of Wile E. Coyote, and Osama Bin Ladden, was his Road Runner.

He was elected to lead the country, not to please a few. Only through his persistence was he able to bring stability and progress especially after 9/11. No President ever pleased everyone and Bush is not the exception. But few Presidents have been so persistent as Bush is. And it worked for the benefit of the country.

Stay the course, even if you are driving over the edge of a cliff and never mind the people in the back seat telling you to swerve.

He's a stubborn bastard, I gotta give him that.There's no question this is one of his main attributes.  The problem is with what he persists in.

He's definitely a persistent one, not that we appreciate it as much as he'd like for us to. As daedalus mentioned, he'll turn on a dime if he begins to piss off the right-wing base that he holds so dear, until then I guess he expects that we sit back like good little children and watch him ruin the country and it's standing in global opinion. I'm all for persistence, but there's a fine line between persistence and just being too stubborn to admit you were wrong...

Obstinate to a fault. The public likes to hate those that appear to be "flip-floppers", but what about those that keep on the same course regardless of the harm it does the country? He can be persuaded though, if he angers his right-wing radical, Christian fundamentalist base enough, as we saw with the Harriet Miers nomination, he will back down.

Assuming that refusing to change your mind in the face of adverse facts is a virtue, he's got it.

In his case, this is a euphemism for blind, intractable bullheadedness.

When President Bush want's something done, he makes sure it gets done. He doesn't leave things half finished which is why he won't pull out of Iraq, it would be leaving a job he started half finished. When President Bush believes something is right or beneficial to our country he goes after and won't shut up until his ideas get some attention. I think that's pretty cool that someone in such strong lime light is willing to propose something as controversial as privitization of Social Security or an amendment to the consitution for the protection of marriage because he believes those actions would be right and beneficial to America. It definitly takes persistence and a strong leader to do that.

Persistence is a worthless trait if you're a liar and lack any sense of geopolitical intelligence. It isn't admirable if you're wrong.

There's a fine line between persistance and pigheadedness. Bush crossed that line some time ago when no WMD's were discovered.

Persistant enough to drag one country and force the other into an uneeded war. Aren't we lucky to have such a persistant guy in the white house.

Oh he's persistant all right:persistantly flip-flopping and changing his tune about WHY we had to go to war,persistant about tampering with our Constitution,persistantly protecting corporations from being sued by citizens who have suffered damages caused by those corporations,persistantly dumping the bulk of his deficit on the backs of the working class while allowing million and billionaires tax loopholes,persistantly dismantling environmental protections with deceptively named bills like clear skies that allow MORE toxins and weaken restrictions on polluters....the list could go on for days.

No matter how many times he's proven wrong about something, he still persues. This is really his best quality.

Thank God for a non-PC, stay-the-course man of the people! What a relief that he won, and won big, in November (esp. considering the alternative, group shudder!)

He is quite persistent, more than the average joe. How else to explain ascending to the highest office in the country (a.k.a. world) with pretty average intelligence. Sometimes average intelligence is what the country needs instead of brainy wonks trying to nuance their way through their decision-making process.

He gets a A in going after the trash that wants to enslave the world to Islam. For all you lilly-livered Dems arn't you really deep down glad Al wasn't in there when it happened. First we would have had tea and crumpets while we asked how everyone feeled about it. Then as they hit us again and again we would still be analyzing our feelings and not doing anything to stop it. I've about had it with all you whiners.

May be wrong, may be right but lets you know where he stands. Fights for what he belives in. Isn't running the show based on dazzeling us with his charm.

Bush is selectively persistent: muleheadedly stubborn when it comes to maintaining those totally idiotic, ideological-driven, out-of-touch and ill-advised core beliefs of his, yet a true master of backpedaling when his administration makes a typically bone-headed decision or takes an untenable and insupportable stand, which is often. His administration was firmly opposed to a 9/11 commission, yet caved in when the public insisted on it. He begrudgingly agreed to grant the commission one hour of his precious time to testify (I guess he figured this commitment of time would interfere with his fundraising and NASCAR schedule), yet then submitted to making himself ultra-available (with the shadowy and totally untrustworthy Dickhead Cheney in tow) when the negative political flak started flying. President Bush is TERRIBLY persistent. He insists on policies that make no sense. He demanded that we go to war for reasons that didn't exist and is now persistent that we should be in Iraq despite the evaporaton of his rationale. He says was a safer as a result of his war on terrorism while he has alienated all of Europe and he has become a prime reason that terrorists view the U.S. even more negatively.

Persistance is only a virtue if your persistance reflects what's right. Whether Bush's persistance on certain issues reflects what's right is questionable. However, we must give the President credit for being highly effective in implementing his domestic agenda. Most of the key points of that agenda have been implemented, and Bush is even more persistant with regards to foreign policy. However, each of these policies which he has pursued so persistantly are all open for debate on whether they are right for the country or not. However, with less than 36 months in office, one cannot deny that Bush has been a very effective President, probably the most effective since Reagan.

He IS persistent. This is only a good quality if backed by a strong rational mind and mature wisdom. With his black-and-white, good-and-evil view of the universe, his persistence varies from the amusingly stupid to dangerous recklessness.

I am giving him 5 stars for this only because he is indeed mule-headed, not because I somehow admire his persistence. He is so single-minded that nothing can sway his monomania from its end result. He cannot be swayed by reason, logic, morality, the complete and violent disagreement of 95% of the earth's population, the pope's opinions, or anything else that would have an influence on a normal, well-adjusted human being. But Bush is not normal, well-adjusted, or a human being. He is a psychopathic monster who is decisive simply because, like most psychopaths, he is completely incapable of caring what happens next or of considering the consequences of his actions. This is why psychopaths make such good CEOs and presidents, because they make a decision (more or less arbitrarily) and then stick to it to the expense of everything else. I'll give him this: he's extremely persistent. Even if he has to exaggerate and manipulate to get what he wants, he'll fight for his position.

Bush is a freakin idiot. and im an american, yet i dont care. and this really shows on us, because how did he get to office? we voted for em, so we are the idiots. Bush is the only person i know that fell off that scooter thing that relies on balance. even after scientists and stuff say its impossible to fall off, no, Bush finds a way to fall off. hes a war crazy psyco who cant get enough money

There is no doubt the Bush is persistent and he keep a tight reign on his Administration's message. He is highly disciplined in selling his policies. It is just unfortunate that those policies are not in the best interest of the nation. If Bush were to decide tomorrow to serve the people rather than the rich and special interests he could accomplish a lot of good.

This President is very persistent. He just wont give in to all of the misinformed on Iraq. Bush is a great President.

Bush certainly is very persistent in pursuing his agenda. When he says he is going to do something, he makes sure it gets done. In politics, persistence is a virtue, especially when you want a legislative agenda passed. For example, when Bush asked Congress for a tax cut his first year in office, he went for the highest dollar amount first and then he lowered the amount to a number that all Republicans and a plurality of Democrats would approve of. Bush is a political wheeler dealer who has been one of the most effective presidents in decades. His confidence along with his persistence has made him and the Republican party a much more powerful political machine. His persistence has no doubt played a role in this.

Persistant, and without that trait, we may well have more acts such as what happened on 9/11.

In my opinion, people who are saying Bush is a great president only say this because they are americans and support bush's party. Bush is far from a good president. He is stupid, has no charisma (that probably came with the stupid) and takes every oppertunity to say something that will become a historical saying like: "We will win". Also his "God bless America" value is pretty high. But apperently that is the way to win millions of American hearts these day. Good luck y'all!

A very persistant guy. Sometimes it is better to show persitence and confidence about the wrong, than lameness and impotence about the right.

His best and most dangerous attribute. I recently shared a cab with an Iraqi ex-patriot who had fled from Saddam Hussein's evil regime. He said that, "In Iraq, if you spoke out, Saddam would kill you, in America, if you speak out, Bush doesn't listen." This is a good example of the frustration that we have with the difference between a democracy and a republic although my use of this example in no way is intended to say that there is a tie between Mr. Bush not listening and Iraqi people's deaths. We have our lives, but no control over our president.

Give the devil his due. the man is certainly persistent, sometimes to exasperating and dangerous levels. In this whole war-with-Iraq fiasco, he refuses to take "yes" for an answer (and what's this about him being a peace-loving man, may I ask?).
