Bought a battery for my car at the PEP Boys in Hollywood Blvd. I was given an old battery! When I confronted them about it, they denied it and refused to give a refund! BEWARE! THEY ARE CROOKS!!

I went to the Pico Pep Boys to have my headlights replaced. One was burned out, but I purchased two so that they would both be replaced and match. I left the car for about an hour, and was told the work was done. The light that was burned out was replaced. Once it was dark, it was very clear that the other bulb -- that I purchased -- was not installed. It is very clear that the older light is much dimmer than the new one. After multiple calls, they agreed to do the repair. Be forewarned that you need to be careful about getting the work done properly here.

I was in need of two front tires, and as I was driving around I heard an ad on the radio for Pep Boys; they were having a 2 tire + free oil change deal. I thought it sounded good, but when I showed up, the employee--Anthony--told me there was no such thing. Fine, whatever, I still needed two tires. So he quotes me $106 Definity EX700 tires, which sounded expensive, but I hadn't been in the market for tires in a while so who was I to argue? I check their website, and found that the EX700 are the most expensive tires they offer. Yet every ad has great-sounding $50-60 tires plastered all over the front page. Classic bait & switch. They lure you in with low prices, then offer you the highest-priced products if you don't know exactly what you want; they're not out to help you, they're out to make a buck. And they don't honor their advertised specials to boot! Anthony even tried to up-sell me on two rear tires, even though we both could clearly see the tires still had at least 8-10 mont... Read more

I took my vehicle to PEP BOYS HOLLYWOOD for a complete brake job. When I left, I noticed that the brakes were "locking" up, so I called the service Manager and he told me that sometimes the brakes need "breaking in" and to wait a few days. I ended up bringing the truck back and leaving it there for the day to be checked. They found NOTHING wrong, but said they lubricated the brakes. The next time I drove the truck - Again - the breaks were locking up. By this time there was a new Service Manager - Ignacio. He told me to bring the truck back ONCE AGAIN - and assured me he would take care of it. I did so - and he couldn't find anything wrong with it. He then told me it was "probably" the ABS system and that I should take it to the FORD Dealer. He further explained that if it was the brakes - that PEP BOYS would pay the Dealer Costs to replace the brakes. I was driving down an LA Freeway after a light rain with a 10 year old in the passenger seat - and when I put on the brakes -... Read more

Right before I turned over my keys to the guy writing up the service on my car, he said to make sure to take anything valuable with me so I took the bills out of my change drawer but left the change. The next day they quoted me over $1K worth of work when I'm pretty sure I don't need most of it. I put about 1500 miles on my car last year and do regular maintenance (e.g. oil changes, etc) so I decided to pay for the inspection and diagnostic tests they ran but take it to another mechanic. They were rude because I didn't want to do the work they recommended and while driving home, I went to put the bills back in the change drawer only to discover it was completely empty. Not a penny, not a piece of lint. If they had left a few coins, I might have doubted myself on how much was in there to begin with even though I had taken the bills out right before turning over the keys. There was no doubt about it - Pep Boys ripped me off not only on the service but stole all my change. I didn't have m... Read more

Let me tell you something. This is not only the worst PEPBOYS in the entire world! But the worst place to take your car in the universe!!!! I took my car in to be serviced for a heater core. Afterwards, I asked could they change our locks out and put in new ones,(being that the car had been stolen before). THE GUY JOSE SAYS "OF COURSE". Didn't hear from Jose for 2 weeks. By the time he called back he informed me that their computers went down & they lost all info on their customers. He went on to say that even though he said they could fix my car...The mechanic looked at it and decided he could no longer fix it. IT WAS TOO MUCH WORK!! I informed them that we would come & pick up the car. But of course once we got there they had already had OUR CAR TOWED!! I went there because I thought Pep Boys was a good deal. I never expected anything this outrageous. Now I have to pay for all the days the car was impounded. Theynever even informed us it would be towed. What kinda place is this? I wo... Read more

I took my car to this place because I was new to the area and didn't know better. The job they did on my brakes needed to be redone less than a year later. And they squeaked the whoe time - even though they told me nothing was wrong when I told them about my problems.
