One day Eddie Vedder got beat up and brutally raped on the way to practice. His guitarist, Stone Gossard asked him 'Eddie, what's that stuff in your hair, on your face and all over your back?' 'Pearl Jam', said Eddie Vedder. I'm just kidding, this shitty band never practiced.

pearl jam is one of the biggest rock bands of the 90s.Their songs are really different from other bands with completely alternative sound.Their solos on most of the songs are great.

pearl jam is one of the best grunge/alternative bands of all time.It had constant competition with nirvana in the 90s.Its album like ten,vs,yield & no code are all multi platinum selling records.

Their first album "Ten" was great and was one of the biggest albums of the 90's. I haven't rely listened to much other than their first album but their still one of my favorite groups. They were also one of the main groups responisble for the 90's grunge movement.

Pearl Jam’s first three albums were packed with well-crafted, energetic songs.  On these albums, the band had a knack for blending arena and punk rock into a fresh package.  Starting with their fourth album, No Code, the band’s studio efforts have been mediocre at best.  On the other hand, Pearl Jam still knows how to put together a great concert.

you paeople have no idea what your talking about, pearl jam is probably one of the greatest american bands ever. they've been around for 16 years now and still sell out stadiums. Between MAtt camearon and jeff ament they have one of the strongest rythem sections ever, combine that with stone and mccready's guitars and eddie's voice and lyrics they're simply amzinf. there hasnt been a band in the last 10 years that even comes close

This band is so overated it is not funny. Eddie Vedder is a complete ass. I did not like him before 9/11 but it got worse after he said some thing to the effect that we deserved it. Every song sounds the same and Mr. Vedder's vocal are irritating at best.

Great stuff all the way up till Vitalogy but from then on a bit hit and miss, although there are still some top tracks on albums like Binaural and No Code.

Some here reckon PJ's songs sound the same? Err.. like 'Evenflow' is identical to 'Spin the black circle' Yeah, sure. 'Ten' is masterpiece and the 1st 3 tracks the best opener on any album IMO. The other albums don't quite reach 'Ten's standard but 'Vs' and 'Vitalogy' come pretty close.

Pearl Jam is one of my favorites. I love their music, style, lyrics and eddie's voice. I think its awesome they stand up for what they believe in because everyone has a right to. They're human beings not just guys in a rock band. I think everyone should stop being so scared of people who speak their mind... i think it takes some massive balls to speak you're side when you're in the spotlight and when important things are at stake. They may have been reluctant at first to share their opinions for exactly the reason everyone is bitching. People judge quickly and if they dont like someones veiws, they aren't scared to speak their mind... (even though thats precisly the reason they don't like Pearl Jam and other out spoken people in the first place) Here's a tip to all the people complaining that they take a stand (which happens to go against you're beliefs). Your way of thinking is not the correct way to think... Like i said EVERYONE has an opinion... or atleast they should. And its becau... Read more

although i come from the nirvana school of grunge *lol* Pearl Jam is probably tied for my favourite band of all time. Each album is perfect. Their songs go from angry to happy to sad to heartbreaking. and eddie's voice is so unique, despite the scott stapps of teh world *vomit* i like the fact that PJ cares about their fans, that they have this whole dispute with ticketmaster. i can't even think of a song to recommend, because they are all absolutely wonderful!

How many bands or musicians out there would put their reputations, financial success, CD sales or concert revenue on the line for their fans. Answer is NO ONE !! Because it's not done anymore. Pearl Jam did it though, taking on corporate giant Ticketmaster because they have a complete monopoly on every decent north American concert venue and they gouge prices of tickets which rip off music fans. Pearl Jam did it for every one of their fans, even though it meant they'd have to do it alone, because no one else had the guts to join them. That alone should give them respect and credibility beyond most any band listed on here. They've followed their own path whether it be popular, well received or otherwise. So Vedder doesn't like Bush. He's entitled to his own opinion. I may not have slammed him during wartime, but I'm not Vedder. He answers to himself. This band survives because they make beautiful music and put on a fantastic show. They have depth in both musical note and lyri... Read more

Isn't it funny how PJ was thrown into the barrel of grunge bands in the early 90's? They are far from grunge. They are merely a great rock & roll band, probably the best all-around ROCK band to come out since 1990. The musicianship is tip-top and you don't find much better lyrics. WATCH THEM LIVE, It is more of an experience than a concert.

They produce the most emotional music of all time, Eddies's vocals and lyrics are simply from another world. This is the only rock band for me and they will always be that way!!! If you are only a casual observer then first check out 'betterman' and then shoot on other cuts from there on.

Pearl Jam is by far the best band ever formed. Eddie Vedder is the best song writer ever born, with each album he continues to amaze me with his words of wisdom. I have one thing to say to all the people that don't like Pearl Jam, you don't have to like them but you will respect them. And sfalconer you are an idiot, if anything Pearl Jam is under rated, you are a retard and don't write negative about Pearl Jam ever!!!

First of all, pearl jam is NOT hard rock. That is the dumbest thing I've ever read. They are alternative and really in a "category" by themselves, much like bob dylan. Anyway. I'm a bit leary of giving them 5 because after their first couple of albums their music started to suffer.

These guys were good in the beginning but just got consumed by its own political overtones to the point that people just got turned off after 1996, especially me. The music is still intact and good but Vedder needs to stop whining.

Pearl Jam is one of the best artists of the '90s and is right up there with Nirvana in the grunge movement. Eddie Vedder takes a stand on political issues. It was great how the week after Cobain died, Vedder wore a T-shirt with his initials on it and overlooked all previous tensions between the two bands. Better Man is a great song. Also, it is amazing how "Jeremy" almost predicted the epidemic of school shootings to come in the following years. It is a haunting song. They are one of the best bands in awhile.

the lead vocalist could not sing his way out of a paper bag. This band is only popular because of Record Company hype and the willingness of you musical idiots to accept it. We forgive you, but please "listen" to music before you buy. Loud assed guitars and out of tune vocals don't make a good recording. Music ability makes good music. Wake up.

I know most people look at Nirvana as the summit of grunge, but Pearl Jam was always a much better, more talented band. I have liked these guys from day one. I like their willingness to stand up for what they believe, that they are willing to pitch in and lend a hand to benefit projects all the time and that they just simply rock! Their album "Yield" is one of the most under-rated rock albums ever. It was fantastic! "Ten" and "Vs." were simply magical. "Vitalogy" was choppy but with some classics. "No Code" and "Binaural" are very good with some lesser known songs. I eagerly await every album they put out. Just a great, great band.

Now here's a band that deserves to be given 5 stars as a rock band. They have consistently written and performed songs of excellent quality. They are incredible in performance and were the harbingers of "grunge" music in the early 90's, along with Nirvana. If it weren't for Pearl Jam paving the way, some of my favorite rock musicians today wouldn't have even been given a chance by record companies. In my opinion, they are and always will be 5 star rock musicians.

pj is incredible. they are one of the few bands left that makes music for the sake of making music, not to impress others. they truely love what they do and it shows. vedders voice is very real and conveys the powerful feelings that lie behind each song. the things that they write and sing about everyone can relate to somehow. and nothingman is the GREATEST song ever.

i've always dug their tunes. every album they have, i can play all the way through. there's just something about their sound that's easy on the ears. sometimes vedder gets a little too intense, but the music and his voice together are just plain magic. as mother love bone, they lacked the chemistry (andrew wood's vocals were way to "hair band"). so despite the weight of vedder's topics, it's still an explosive combo. i'm pretty stuck on the "yield" record at the moment, but i think all their stuff is top notch, even the weirder, experimental songs.
