I like nova, frontline and nature, and shows like that, and also that travelling show where they go to places around the world.. educational for anyone but also entertaining, you cant find that on the other channels!. but most of the time those programs arent on and its mostly just some boring news or local or kiddie shows like teletubbies... i miss magic schoolbus that was a sweet show.

PBS has provided me with education from the time I was barely tall enough to reach the power button on my TV until now. Still has some of the best kids programming during the morning and afternoon, plus Nova and other good shows for my grown up geek brain. Some of the news programming has a decided slant to it (when does news not have spin), preventing a 5-star rating.

Drop the federal subsidy. It should sink or swim on its own. I get more and more tired of the bloated self importance of this gaggle of mopes.

Ive Got Good News! Sometimes it can be frustrating searching for safe childrens media. Well Ive got news for you! What a breath of fresh air it was to check out PBS Kids website (www.pbskids.org). Firstly, I want to tell you all how much I loved this website. I am not a mother myself but I empathies with those who are and want their children to be positively effected by media. This website is children and parent friendly. There are many components to this website but each component is very simple to understand and utilize. This is a very interactive site that children, teachers, and parents would love. When you first visit the website you can only notice the bright colors that release a positive reaction, a sense of happiness. A Wheel of activities and programs that PBS offers with pleasant sound effects that complement. On the wheel are pictures of the shows characters that you can click on and check out information about the shows, games, educational activities, and much more. Ma... Read more

When they have their telethons, sometimes you get a really special show. It's rare to find good things to watch the rest of the year.

Usually has shows geared towards more intelligent viewers than most public and cable channels.Of course, there's also plenty of stuff for the kids, also often educational in nature. They offer fine programs on history, science and fine arts as well as broadcasting concerts and theater.I've seen quite a few great shows on PBS over the years, and one of the best (for me,anyway) was the Ken Burns documentary series on the History of Jazz. That's the first time I was "glued to the set" in about 20 years!

PBS is top quality all the way. I have been a fan for many years!! The only thing I would change is to have play some of the top-notch pledge programming at non-pledge time but I understand why they do it that way. The nations's children will be in horrible shape if their children's programming ever goes away. I find that most other "children's programming" is anything but. As far as I am concerned most cartoons are extremely violent.

The difference between the PBS and other channels is that PBS has to get buy on what the goverment kicks down and donations from viewers. I can only imagine that with all the disasters in the last year its getting pretty hard for these stations to get funds from the public but some how they keep going. I can not say I watch it a lot but you do find programing on PBS that you will not find any where else.

NOVA, Newshour, Frontline and the kids shows make this worth watching. Does it really need government funding? If the FOODnetwork can make a go at it, I think PBS's top shows could easily muster a market.

Wonderful for kids, horrible for adults. The PBS station I get had pretty good British comedies at one time (Only Fools and Horses, Open All Hours, Fawlty Towers, and the first to run Monty Python in America). Now, not so much.

While the moral content is good and the lack of commercials is nice for the viewer, there aren't enough shows with hype that are relatively popular. Also, the kids' shows aren't as good as they used to be 10 years ago.

Good educational shows and some good shows that are not on commercial TV. In Nebraska PBS also has high-school championships and some of the minor college sports. The bad: there are a few unabashedly left-wing shows and some are so far left they make Ted Kennedy look like Rush Limbaugh.

I usually watch PBS for shows like MotorWeek and Ask This Old House. I love that there are no commercials during programs, but I really hate it when the end of the month comes and the station is begging for money (supported by viewers like you), which seems to cancel out any programs on those days.

Real news and insight minus hype. Always fair and balanced. Also, one of the few places that honors our soldiers with a picture and a moment of silence for each and every one as they are confirmed killed. If you want flashy graphics for minds with short attention spans do not tune into this channel. If you want real news with in depth discussion and analysis of issues this is your channel. The specials are also informative. I can live without the road show.

PBS is the only channel with anything decent on, including really interesting NOVA programs. They also used to have no commercials. They do now, but it was good while it lasted.

PBS rules! This is the only regular channel that shows great educational shows such as NOVA, Nature, and many others. Also, they have great educational shows for our children such as Sesame Street, Mister Roger's neighborhood, and Barney. If teenagers watch more educational science and history shows on PBS as well as National Geographic Channel, Discovery Channel, Learning Channel Science Channel, and History Channel and less MTV, they will grow more brain cells and become much more smarter!

My local PBS stations, WETA and WMPT, offer excellent programming. They combine the best of quality British programming (unlike BBC America) with the best of quality American programming. It is amazing that only the non commercial channels are able to uphold a standard of consistent quality programming. Shame on corporate America!

America's Best TV Station, I used to hate it the 1980's when there used to be those scary Television Station Corporate Logos that would pop up at the start of a show and at the end (like the WGBH logo in boston with the gawdy graphics, and weird music) They still have it, and it still creeps me out.

Watching Frontline is downright addictive. Between this, the News Hour with Jim Leher and Nova, I can get almost as much information as I would have reading the entire front section of the NY Times. Seriously underutilized, underrated and excellent at reavealing world poitics.

A channel that will always be underrated. They have very good shows. Who could ever forget Ken Burns' award winning documentaries, "Baseball", and "Civil War". And last year they had a reality series that had modern day families living on the frontier, now that's brilliant reality programming! Not "The Bachelor" or "Survivor".

Terrific documentaries about Jazz, science, history and other things usually too complicated for the average television viewer fascinated by silly reality shows and people eating worms and bugs on dares. PBS is better than ever. . .although it is depressing when they have their pledge drives. . .educated people begging for money is always depressing. (Reminds me of grad school.)

Good programming for kids. I also used to love watching Julia Child as a kid, along with Sesame Street and Mr Rogers. I don't really care for the British programs though, especially that Keeping Up Appearances. Ugh!!!
