Panasonic NN-SN667W 1-15-Cubic-Foot 1300-Watt

I had to ship this oven back because the dimensions listed at Amazon.com are incorrect. The oven was too large for my shelf. If you're buying one to fit a particular space, note that the unit is 16 inches deep, 12 inches tall and 21 inches wide. Also, you can't see the food cooking through the window because of the heavy screen.

I bought this to replace a 5-year old Sharp microwave and I chose it because it was the same size, which I needed for space constraints, and had the same features (sensor cook, sensor reheat, defrost and timer). The first thing I noticed was how tinny it seemed compared to the solid feel of the old one. The second problem was the door--which doesn't open when you depress the latch release; you have to depress AND open the door manually. I think that's a design flaw, not a safety feature, and it's inconvenient. The third drawback is the window on the door. This one has a grid of small holes on one side with horizontal lines on the other. It's impossible to see how the food is cooking without opening the door. Otherwise, it seems to work fine, but I wouldn't buy it again.

I looked forward to buying this product when my 1100 watt $80 GE failed, since the $130 Panasonic 1300 watts would be faster. And it is proportionally faster. However, I was amazed by Panasonic's failure to allow the user to watch their cooking and specifically watch for when coffee or other boiling points are reached, before items boil over. In a residence room which has a window with a sunlight source somewhere in it, it is simply impossible to see into the oven while it is cooking unless you close the curtains. At night, in a bulb lit room, it is then possible to see into this product while it cooks. And the product bulb is covered by a unibody internal metal case perforated in the bulb area -- thus replacing the bulb would involve taking the whole product apart. We've had the Panasonic NN-SN667W microwave for about a month now and are very pleased with its appearance and performance. The included instruction manual is clear and easy to follow, making the operation of the microwave a snap. My only complaint: it's hard to see what's going on in the oven when in use.

After 25 years it seemed time to consider replacing the old 600W Microwave. After carefully studying the choices we selected the Panasonic NN-SN667W, 1300 watt machine. It took a little study of the manual, but it works very well. The Sensor reheat and Sensor Cook functions are excellent, taking a lot of guess work out time and power settings. The reheat function gets the food hot, but not too hot. Foods don't cool off too quickly. The hints on frozen foods work well, espcially if its meat, poultry or fish that list the weight on the package. If there are no weights you're on your own and back to guessing. It would have been helpful to have more information on thawing vegtables and frozen fruits (blue berries, raspberries, etc.) The additional power is very welcome. The cautions are appropriate as 1300 watts with the wrong materials can get you in trouble. The turntable works well. The screen on the door makes viewing while heating a little difficult.
