Some parts of the country are particularly dangerous. Northern Pakistan, near the border with Afghanistan is a lawless region where insurgents reside, and the main city of Karachi is one of the most dangerous cities in the world. On another subject, it is interesting to note that Obama has already attacked Pakistan, lobbing a few cruise missiles at a small town across the border from Afghanistan. Here's an article, courtesy of the Associated Press (http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D95SSHE80& show_article=1) This is interesting, as I've been predicting for some months on here that Obama will extend hostilities into Pakistan once he's in office. It obviously didn't take him long to get that going. Relations remain hopeful, at least on the Pakistani side, but I don't expect that they will take violations of the sovereignty all that lightly. If we keep this up, relations with Pakistan will likely deteriorate further.

Pakistan is encouraging terrorism, though other countries have been asking to stop it, but they are not doing any attempt to do so.

It is evident that there have been suicide bombing attacks recently in Pakistan but travellers destinations such as Lahore, Karachi, Faisalabad, Islamabad and many others are safe and why? Because if you pick the record books, only police, security officials and foriegners backing the war against terror (army officers etc.) are targetted. Civilian casualties have been very less. Moreover, tourist places such as hotels, clubs, restaurants etc. have NEVER been hit.

Unlikely to start anything because of the nuclear balance of terror with India, still Pakistan is dangerous because it's an Islamist nation in a position to export its problems.

Pakistan is by far the most dangerous country in the world. They have nuclear weapons and a very large portion of the population are Al Quaida supporters. Combined with the unstable political situation in the country, this is extremly dangerous. We all know that Al Quaida would not hesitate a second to use nuclear weapons on "infidel" targets around the world.

They're our buddies now, much like Hussein was during the 1980s. We continue to sell F-27s to them, alienating India, their mortal enemy and the only democracy in the region. Another example of short term geopolitical interests trumping principle or long term interests. I suspect in 15 years or so we will be at odds with them, once we no longer need them for Taliban/Al Qaida hunting and the military hardware isn't flowing like it once did.

Given that Musharraf(sp) is a dictator and that the government is unstable, that the place is rife with extremist factions, that they possess nuclear weapons, that Kashmir is a powder keg that just won't go away, and that they have a history of going to war with India I think Pakistan has the potential for all sorts of destabilizing mischief.
