Tue Jun 22 2010They seem like a good bunch of people to hang out with but as a religion its a little weak in its offering of tax breaks.

Mon Mar 01 2010While "paganism" is a blanket term, and covers much more variety than the "christian" one (protestant, catholic, gnostic, methodist, quaker, etc), It provides a rich, deep panopoly of philosophical and symbolic paths to divine and spiritual perfection. To my knowledge, monotheism has historically caused more war, violence and hatred than polytheism or pantheism ever has.Traditionally, polytheists have been more prone to accept the beliefs of other cultures, find the similarities to their own ("You call her Demeter, but we call her Isis"),and not feel the need to force their particular version on everyone else.(Hinduism is a fine example of this trait).Very often, monotheists, even when sharing a common source (Old Testament) are quite likely to ignore what they have in common and battle murderously about the variations ( eg. :Judaism,Christianity,Islam).Having read much of their Mythology (Bible,Koran & various other Monotheist Doctrines, such as the Avesta of the Zoroastrians),I also found many Pagan... Sun Dec 21 2008For me, being Pagan is more real and fulfilling than being Christian. I now understand the rituals that I was taught when I was a young Christian. Which I couldn't make sense of back then. Bottom line is to honor life. "Do as ye will and harm none!"

Mon Oct 06 2008This is better than the goofy Wicca made up mumbo-jumbo. This is the old national religions of ancient times as well as native religions of many tribal groups,.

Mon Oct 06 2008Scores points for being more realistic and closer to human behavior than the three major monotheistic fables. . .paganism was a laughable but intelligent attempt to explain unseen phenomena by way of superstition. . .and it's strange to me how practicioners of monotheism look down upon present and past pagans. . .our culture mocks and laughs at those silly people who worshipped so many gods whilst we just subtracted all of them and kept one. . .which means there's one more subtraction left. . .

Mon Oct 06 2008There's something about paganism that resonates in my celtic soul. Which shouldn't come as a big surprise, since Christianity borrowed over two thirds of its rituals from Celtic, Norse, Frankish, and Gothic paganism. They did it for the simple reason that it made conversion to Christianity simpler for pagans, not having to give up their familiar rituals. Its highly amusing when folks with zero knowledge of history start talking about Christian traditions, when what they're really talking about are rituals meant to honor Odin, Mabd, and the rest of the polytheistic crew.
