This cigar has been sitting in my humidor for months, I was saving it for a special occasion. The Padron Family Reserve 45 was Cigar Aficionado's #1 rated cigar of 2009, and even though I don't always agree with their ratings, my expectations were high, and boy did they nail the rating to the tee this time, I knew after the first few draws that this was a special smoke. The 45 is beautifully constructed, it was the first time smoking a box pressed cigar. I tasted hints of creamy cocoa, maybe a little chocolate as well, with a good amount of smoke. The Family Reserve 45 will most certainly take its place as one of the better vintage cigars out there because it will only get better with time.
