Nillon24, DLH WON!!! Get over it!! DLH outboxed and outjabbed Mosley easily through almost the entire fight. When he gets tired, he gets tagged but this whole crap that Mosley landed the harder shots..my ass, with that rationale you are saying that a boxer can connect hard for two rounds and he's got the fight won if he pitty-pats for the remaining ten. Mosley didn't connect enough hard shots to win a decision. If they were that hard DLH would've been knocked down or out. Mosley was outboxed, just like he was outboxed and beat again by Wright and Cotto.

I would like to put to rest the myth that DLH got ripped off in his second fight with Mosley. Mosley landed the cleaner, harder punches throughout the fight, and thats how you win professional boxing matches, not by simply making contact with the other guy. DLH would have won if it were an amatuer fight because he connected more, but compubox does not measure the strength or damage of a punch. Compubox means NOTHING in scoring a fight!!!. Its just window dressing for stat hounds. Thats all!!!  There were 16 sportswriters with their scorecards in "the Ring" magazine, and 11 of them had it for Mosley, 3 for DLH, and 2 had it a draw. Oscar lost fair and square...GET OVER IT!!!!!

For a lot of reasons I believe Oscar De La Hoya will win his fight with Floyd Mayweather tonight. I believe that Mayweather has under estimated Oscar and overrated himself. I have already given my reasons why I believe this in another post, Win, lose or draw, Oscar is already a winner. In a sport where the athlete is used, abused and thrown to the wayside, broke and beaten, Oscar has not only survived, he has thrived. He has reached the pinnacle of his sport as a boxer and is well on his way to being the top promoter as well. He has been criticized because he has out hustled the managers and promoters of the sport. The very same promoters that have been screwing over fighters since Boxings beginning. I say more power to him, and its about time someone with brains has turned the table on these vultures that have ruined the sport that I love so much. I hope he chases guys like Bob Arum and Don King completely out of the sport. Arum has claimed that he made Oscar what he is today, an... Read more

Tough customer and a smart and adaptable fighter. Brings a lot of class to a sport that constantly seems intent on pissing class away. One of the pillars of the sport.

i like oscar he's exciting to watch but i think people gives him two much credit because he ran from trinidad in that fight he got beat by mosley twice and mosley's power was too much for oscar in the second fight the judges cheated for him against felix sturm cause sturm destroyed oscar and hopkins knocked him out.

Oscar gets such a bad rep, for no reason. He hasn't ducked anybody, and has the adept skill to adapt to his opponent's style. Example brawled against Vargas, boxed and kept it close with Hopkins; until he was caught with that devastating body shot. He has one of the better resumes of any current fighter. He is also very gracious in defeat, even though he was robbed against Trinidad and the second Mosley fight. He doesn't really brag about his greatness, and has tremendous heart. He's also moving back down to welterweight, I see him further enhancing his legacy with possible fights with Judah, Mayweather, Hatton, Margarito or a possible third fight with Mosley.

Ok. Remember this about De La Hoya. Who cares about why he picks his fights, he fought undefeated Quartey didn't he and won the fight because he had Ike dead on his feet in round 12. Are you legit boxing fans or just haters? He lays blueprints down to beat fighters. Tito was bested by Bernard because of why? Hopkins even said he looked at the DLH fight with Tito and said that was his strategy to stick and move and pummel him just like De La Hoya but Tito's hand speed was nonexistent like it was DLH. Tito is slow and non athletic who is a HEADHUNTER not a boxer. Hell David Reid had Tito on the run with a droopy eye, Vargas lambaisted him with a right hook and Oba Carr floored him who can't even break a dorito with his punches. Secondly, DLH would be undefeated if he trained properly, in his first fight with Mosley De La Hoya was hunting down Mosley with those body shots and outgunning him. But towards the latter part he was tired and showed balls by slugging it out with Shane ... Read more

De La Hoya is good, even very good I'll grant you. That being said he is nowhere near what his obnoxious hype machine cracked him up to be. He is exposed yet again, and I'm sure his supporters will say his hand injury cost him. Hopkins was cautious and methodical and when the opportunity presented itself he deposited Oscar's golden butt on the canvas. Let the spinning and excuse making begin.

i admit once again, i was wrong about this fighter. ODLH has the rare talent of switching from boxing to slugging, as he showed in his fight agains vargas and hopkins. hes a lot tougher than most ppl give him credit for. after all, he wasnt stopped by vargas, trinidad, and lasted until the 9th with hopkins. hes an excellent all-around fighter and one of the best boxers today. for some reason, i dont like him, i dont know y. but ill give credit where credit is due, and ill say that Oscar De La Hoya is one of the best fighters in the sport today.

I too was a Oscar basher until his fight with Vargas. I thought he'd get the crap beat out of him and he showed a lot of guts and heart taking Fernando out. No modern fighter has ANYWHERE CLOSE to the boxing resume that Oscar has. Nobody. Nowhere. Anywhere. In fact, he may have best boxing resume of any fighter since Ali, certainly since Leonard. This guy has just about fought EVERYBODY near his weightclass. EVERYBODY (Roy Jones, are you listening?). Oscar should be the one singing You Must of Forgot. I think he bit off more than he could chew against Hopkins. But then again, Hopkins isn't as used to the big fight as Oscar is. I think Hopkins will win, but wouldn't be surprised if he froze in probably the biggest fight of his career and Oscar finds a way to pull out a victory. Love him or hate him, you gotta respect the level of competition on Oscar's resume. That, and his won-loss record, earns him a 5 star in my book.

De La Hoya is s technically superior boxer with great hand speed, natural power, and high ring intelligence. My problem with De La Hoya is his reluctance to take a real risk - twice. Once he realizes a real challenge is in front of him, realizes that he could loose, he refuses to fight. When he thinks his opponent is vulnerable, he's ready to fight. Examples: He NEVER fought Whittaker again. He wouldn't grant Quartay a rematch. He wouldn't fight Vargas until Trinidad destroyed him. He didn't want to rematch with Trinidad until Hopkins destroyed him. He didn't want Mosley again until he lost to Vernon twice!! Now he won't fight Mosley unless Mosley submits to him out of the ring, and looks to fight Vargas again. For these reasons, 2 our of 5.

he's one fighter that nobody cares. he only gave one re-match(chavez) and that was his weakest opponent ever base on performance. If you look at his fights, he only fights opponents who are in a decline or at least lost some fights. His undefeated opponnents such as trinidad and shane prove he can't handle an undefeated opponents. And so he waits till their defeated and fights them. He never wanted to fight vargas, Arturo Gatti, and several others when they had an undefeated record. And he still doesn't want to fight kostya, because he's knows he can't defeat him. He's fake and not a legend and not a great one. He should given several fighters a rematch.

Man I can't believe some of you punks! It seems everybody hates De La Hoya because of his looks. Look at the natural talent pouring off this guy, he's fought just as many champions as Trinidad and Only lost Razor thin decisions twice. Everybody was pissed at the way he ran away from Trinidad but he won that fight on the Cards Fair and Square, and showed boxing fans how overrated Trinidads boxing skills were. He also took some crunching shots from Vargas and stood toe to toe with him and didn't get knocked down like Trinidad. He's a great fighter with way too many critics, cause every body thinks he's a pretty boy or at least disillusioned die hard trinidad fans.

BEST FIGHTER POUND 4 POUND! De la Hoya has shown himself to be an incredible fighter with an ability to adapt to any fight situation-he has power, hand speed, and a beautiful style and skill that is second-to-none! Mayweather is turning him to be a multi-directional fighter which he needs to be to continue being the BEST! Although Mosley did beat him, it was mostly because De la Hoya beat himself--he was too unidirectional in that fight in which he just moved forward while Mosley danced, turned southpaw, and fought inside momentarily using his great handspeed. There is NO question in my mind that De la Hoya will hurt Mosley in the rematch and will conclusively win that fight. One more thing--running for the last three rounds or not, De la Hoya easily whipped Trinidad in that bout!

I hope Oscars mascara doesn't run when he fights Arturro Gatti, I think we are all in for a better fight than expected. Oscar is a little pretty boy, and if I were him I would quite boxing, because fighters like Gatti are what make this sport great......not some wanna-be singer and actor, who gets all the media attention and is afraid to get cut. OVERRATED panty-waist!!

COULD HAVE BEATEN MOSLEY IF HE WOULD HAVE BOXED LIKE HE DID AGAINST TRINIDAD. TRINIDAD WILL DESTROY MOSLEY. DE LA HOYA, USE LAS PIERNAS Y EL CUERPO DETRAS DE LOS GOLPES QUE TIRE Y SU PEGADA SERA CASI COMO LA DE TRINIDAD.

Oscar gave Mosley his all (Mosleys speed and power was overwhelming). Could have beaten Trinidad (w/o the 3 rounds of running). He beat Quartey (too close to call), Chavez (ko'd 2x), Oba Carr (by tko), Whitaker (did he?)... He has beaten the best and lost to the best. What more can you ask for? We'll see what Mayweather Sr. can do for the goldenboy.

I'm not an Oscar fan but as they say give credit where credit is due. Oscar has the potential of being one of the greatest fighters of all time. Sure he has the best PPV ratings other than some heavyweights but that was just good marketing by Arum. Oscar dominated aging fighters and fighters that had no chance and team Oscar knew that when they staged the fights. Whenever he was put in the ring with worthy opponents Oscar was very much exposed and/or beaten, ex. Pernell, Oscar couldn't find him and if Pernell had powerthere would have been a KO. Quartey, every time Oscar stood toe to toe Quartey would back him up. Tito, afraid of his power, ran all night. Mosely, finally some justice. Had he got Emanual Steward and listened he would have a chance to come back and destroy the likes of Tito but Mosely is out of his league. Maybe Mayweather Sr. will be able to turn this prize fighter back around.

I like this guy. He reminds me of the old school boxers like my dad. He was just a golden glove form the streets of Atlanta, He made you feel like anyone could work through the system, just like Oscar. I feel that too much flash, taked away from the fact that you are going into a ring to beat the snot out of another person. You don't need to play music and dress like a pimp for that.

Oscar has some ability, but he's extremely over hyped. This is a fighter who's lost 4 fights, but only has two losses on his record. He lost to Whittaker, Quartey, Trinidad and Mosely. He got gift decisions because he was "the golden boy", the pretty face with the clean image to sell the game in a time when the game was/is littered with thugs like Tyson. But rest assured, when he suffers his first real cut that leaves a scar, his days as a pinup boy will be over. And with that, so will any gift decision he ever got.

Oscar is a good boxer but he seems confused. It's alright for a boxer to try and appeal to the public but he dwells on it too much. For instance, all of sudden he adds mariachi's to his entrance. I think he won his earlier fights because he was in a lower weight class than he should have been. He is at his ideal weight class now and he hasn't performed.

I think he's a wuss because immediately after taking a Mosley beating he's talking about doing the 'other things that he wants to get around to in his lifetime', a.k.a. hiding in a mansion somewhere rolling in the money his companies are bringing in.

He's an ok fighter with a gladiater's heart, but he was just not good enough to beat Trinidad. Sugar Shane Mosely will be the first man to beat the Golden Boy by TKO, if not by KO.

Saw this guy in a club in Acapulco, and man does he have the good life. He was idolized by the guys in the place, hunted by the girls, and given free drinks all night. The only down side was that some drunk guy tried to take a swing at him in the restroom, just to see if he could knock out a world champion. That might get a little tiresome...
