Wed Feb 04 2009Walked in without an appointment. They assigned someone to me right away--no wait involved. I've been getting Chinese acupressure massages for years in NYC. While some were more memorable and productive than others, none compared to this excellent first visit. I do believe the Thai technique is far superior and consider myself converted. The Thai style seems to involve a wider variety of moves to work out the tension in your hips and spine. Attention was paid to musculature that I now realize was routinely neglected by Tui-Na establishments. Though I was sore the day after, the massage was effective. This isn't a hoity-toity day spa. It is a tidy, orderly and aesthetically pleasing (berber carpeted rooms, non-cheeseball tranquil music, good lighting, clean tile and waiting room area) The massage I had here was as good as a far more expensive one offered at the Bliss spa chain. And the overall comfort factor, decor-wise, is better than that of other budget places with which I'm familia... Read more

Thu Jan 08 2009i have been getting massage for 15 years now. And the one thing every place has in common is they think they are the best. And that seems such a simple view because everyone is different and likes different kinds of massage. My wife and I could not be more different. She wants a nice relaxing, other worldly, massage with that gift of touch. I want my butt kicked, deep tissue stuff. Incredibly, we both love ORCHID MASSAGE because we can each get the type of massage we want and both leave very satisfied with the overall experience there. And they always seem to be open. I don't know how but whenever I call whether early in the am or late in the pm they answer the phone and i get to schedule a session. and that is important as both my wife and I have crazy schedules. Bottom line, if you are looking for a place that can deliver the type of massage you request and can do every time ORCHID MASSAGE is your place.

Thu Jan 08 2009My boyfriend and I went here for a couples massage this past weekend. Our masseuses were attentive and pleasant and gave us what we both agree were the best massages of our lives. Having that experience made it all the more special. We never felt rushed even though the masseuse told us about all the couples that were coming in on Weekend. LOVE IT.

Sun Jun 08 2008I went here the first time, based on the review above, and haven't gone anywhere else for almost a year. I LOVED the private rooms, because I'd tried many other spas, and like other reviewers reviewing other Thai spas I was constantly annoyed by grunting, talking, cell phones and doors slamming. THEN it all changed. Three weeks ago they cut the walls down, so now you hear everything: talking, cell phones, toilet flushes..... So now it's not worth the extra cash I was so happy to spend to have a quiet, relaxing experience. Now this place is "Average" - three stars - not better than the others. Oh well, I'm back on the street, searching.

Sun Nov 12 2006Tucked away in a little building on Riverside between Lankershim and Vineland, Orchid Thai Massage is a quiet oasis of Thai-style massage in Toluca Lake/Studio City. Unlike some other Thai Massage places I've been to, Orchid offers large, clean, private rooms for your massage treatments. Soft traditional Asian music plays softly in the background. Unlike the somewhat makeshift decor of other Thai massage places I've tried, Orchid offers their services with an air of quiet professionalism. One interesting difference is their offering of combination massage therapy, using a mix of Swedish, Thai and Shiatsu techniques. My masseuse gave me a pummeling, kneading and pounding that was firm and strong. Yes, at times it hurt, but it was a good hurt, if you know what I mean. At $50/hour, it was pricier than most Thai massages I've had, but still cheaper than most "western" day spa-type massages you can get around town. After being kneaded, we were treated to a hot cup of Yogi detox tea and cool... Read more
