An obscure but really beautiful 1969 song from when T. Rex were known as Tyrannosaurus Rex, a relatively popular, largely acoustic, British duo then consisting of Marc Bolan and drummer/ percussionist/ backing vocalist Steve Took... who specialized in a kind of fantasy influenced, dreamy, folk rock/ psychedelic/ proto- world music sound that was at times akin to Syd Barrett's material with Pink Floyd, Donovan, or The Incredible String Band. Some listeners may find them to be dated, but they did put out some really good stuff, and this is one of the very best tracks they did before the name change to T. Rex: it's well worth seeking out on youtube or something. Great harmonies, simple but interesting lyrics, and a really nice melody. One of the most amazing things about Bolan is that he could often make oblique, weird, inscrutable, or truly nonsensical lyrics and make them seem very profound and even moving...as is the case on this.
