Thu Jan 07 2010Dr. Fleming and Dr. Shuler are two of the best doctors that have ever seen my pets. Most recently, one of my dogs needed an emergency surgery that needed to be done by a surgeon. It was really late in the day and we knew it was going to be difficult to find an available surgeon. Dr. Fleming proceeded to call all over town and was able to get the surgery arranged for that evening. Dr. Fleming, Dr. Shuler and Mary called me at home several times that weekend to check on my dog. Thanks to their help and excellent care, my dog had the emergency surgery and he is doing great.

Thu Nov 26 2009My dog was due for a dental cleaning and upon scheduling, the tech pointed out my dog's skin tag below his lip and said that it should be removed because my dog looked ugly with it. First of all, why in the world would you call a dog ugly in front of his/her human?! Second of all, this clinic consistently adds little extra "procedures" to add to your total cost, resulting in an inaccurate estimate once you actually arrive for the procedure (during which it's too late to back out of the entire thing because you've already paid for premedication, preprocedure bloodwork/labs, etc). I called and visited multiple times to check when my dogs' shots were due since I had an inkling that something was due. The staff kept reassuring me that my dogs' shots were up-to-date only to find out from my boarding facility that my one dog is due for bordetella (I found out just the day prior to dropping them off). When I called the clinic to confirm this, they claimed to have sent reminder postcards. I ... Read more

Sun Aug 02 2009I think the care is good, and I love my dog, yet I don't want to do everything to prolong his life. When I talked to the Vet about wanting him to be comfortable, even in his old age, but not wanting to do major cost interventions, he tried to make me feel guilty. He actually said "he's a part of the family". Well that's true but there are things I didn't do for my dad either, because that is the way he wanted it. With the dog it is all my call I can't ask him what interventions he wants. One must realize that any Vet is only paid for the services that you use and their incentive once they have a lot of equipment is to use it.

Thu Mar 26 2009Everybody there is so nice! They are extremely helpful and have formed a bond with my kitten since the day we brought her in! They are so helpful and considerate. BEST vet in town by a mile!

Sat May 24 2008My cats see Dr. Gowing. He is very kind, caring, thoughtful and explains things well. Visits can be expensive (my 3 cats go here for the vet care) but I'm sure its comparable to everywhere else. I understand that Dr. Schuler is the new owner, he is awesome and used to be my vet at another clinic years ago. I highly recommend NWNVH. I have been happy w/the service.

Tue Apr 08 2008I love the NW Neighborhood Veterinary Hospital. I find the staff to be very sweet and kind. Dr. Mahn has been my kittens vet. I have found her to be one of the best vets around. She is very upfront and cares about the pet as well as the person. I would not go anywhere else. I was surprised to see a bad review here! Since every time I have gone I have been happy. Dr. Mahn even called to check up on my kitten which is very sweet. I like that this veterinary hospital is upfront with costs and what procedures that they will do.

Thu Mar 20 2008Both Dr Maun and Dr Gowing have been wonderful with our two chihuahuas, I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this clinic. Recently our littlest chi had a pretty nasty eye infection, and Dr Gowing was kind enough to see her twice w/out an appointment. They are always very upfront about the costs of services, and take the time to talk through every option, always letting us know what will be best for the dog even if it is to advise against services. I was very suprised to see the negative review here, as we have never had any problems, and have never been surprised by extra fees. Even if we move out of this neighborhood, I will continue to take our dogs to this outstanding clinic.

Fri Feb 29 2008I have been going to NW vetrinary hospital for over 8 years now. I have taken both my dogs there, and wouldn't go anywhere else. In my opinion, they have gone far beyond what was expected. They care more about my pets well being than just making money. I would highly recommend them to anyone with pets, and now that they have moved into a larger space, parking is alot easier.

Wed Jan 03 2007Dr. Maun is amazing. We recommend her to everyone we know. Besides being a genuinely kind and caring vet, she's also very mindful of cost vs. benefit and always gives us the honest answers that help us make better decisions. Even after moving out of the NW area, we still make the drive. We won't go anywhere else.

Wed Mar 08 2006I was truly surprised to find a negative review posted here. I've been taking my 2 cats to Dr. Maun for almost 8 years and never hesitate to recommend her to others. She's thorough, compassionate and has an amazing rapport with animals (even my ultra-grumpy cat gives in to her) and their caretakers. While living out of state I had to take the cats to a couple different vets and none provided the level of trust and service that I've found here. I'd be very hesitant to go anywhere else at this point--and I know my cats would agree.

Sat Jan 21 2006Dr. Maun's rapport with our first dog was so easy that he and I trusted her immediately. What surprised me a little was that when we added his much more high strung litter-mate sister to the family, her response to the vet was almost as easy. She's gentle, firm, respectful of both the pet and the person. She's also been very cautious about prescribing medications and treatments, suggesting home remedies and options several times over the phone (with no charge) when she felt an office visit was unecessary. When medication and/or treatment were required her response has been quick and effective. I can't imagine taking my dogs anywhere else and I'm pretty sure they feel the same way.

Thu Nov 17 2005I have a kitten, and was nervous about taking him to the vets for the first time. They put me at ease and were great with Henry. They explained everything to me so i knew what they were doing, and answered all of my questions. I was able to stay with him while they gave him his shots and blood tests.

Sat Nov 12 2005I was surprised to see a negative review of the NW Vet Hospital on this website, because I've had nothing but positive experiences there (with the minor exception of a tech calling my female cat a male, but that's forgiveable!). The doctor was professional and personable, and followed up with 2 phone calls after the last visit with the results of some blood work. The follow up was something that could have been delegated to a tech, but I appreciated the personal phone call. It's a good place.

Wed Aug 03 20052 months ago I adopted a kitten and took him to this vet hospital for a check up. They were so good to both of us and very patient with him. The vet was able to keep him calm and pet him for a long time. He had ear mites, a cold, and fleas and they treated him for everything, letting me know all of the costs before hand. They also called a few days out to check in on him and see how he was doing. When I went in for a second visit, everyone remembered him and they were all very nice. Going to the vet is no longer a pain for me and my kitten is very much at ease. Their prices are reasonable and competitive.

Sun Jul 31 20059 month lab neutered here 3 days ago. Called with concern post op concerns. Dr. most uncooperative and defensive requiring another visit be scheduled. Called two other vets. Both assured me conditions were normal and would dissipate over time. Was never told pricing did not include anestetha or IV fluids. Total bill was double what I expected!
