Mon Sep 27 2010Norm Macdonald is hilarious, and likely the brightest guy on TV (when he was on TV, that is). Little known trivia: FranksWildYears writes all his material.

Sat Aug 23 2008His standup routine was consistently funny. His work on SNL was spotty at best and he has done very little since. Too bad I say.

Sat Jul 05 2008Awkward great!

Mon Dec 24 2007if you like dry-wit and perfect comedic timing then Norm's your guy. Otherwise you'll probably hate him.

Sun May 01 2005i love his crude sense of humor, and im not ashamed to admit i'm a fan of dirtywork.

Thu Apr 21 2005his snl stuff was just ok, but his standup routines were beyond hilarious. literally made my stomach sore from laughing out so hard. maybe he didn't reach his potential or expectations, but he's a very funny guy.

Tue Dec 21 2004I have a theory that Canadians love Norm MacDonald.

Tue Aug 24 2004Not funny. Horrible timing. Just alright at SNL desk.

Thu Jun 03 2004He was the best Weekend Update anchor ever.

Thu Mar 04 2004The guy's an arse anyone who can imply a rape victim deserves to get murdered needs their head examined.

Tue Jan 06 2004Loved his Burt Reynolds... nothing else.

Thu Dec 25 2003I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that he was the best Weekend Update guy ever. He was so over the top that I couldn't help but laugh.

Wed Nov 05 2003Did any of you guys hear what he said about homicide and rape victum Teena Brandon? After this woman was raped and killed, He defended her killers and cracked jokes at the case because Teena was a lesbian. What a heartless individual.

Mon Oct 27 2003Norm Macdonald is SO GREAT! nobody will ever come close to being as good or as cute at Weekend Update as he was! I loved it when he would just look at the camera and shake his head after a particularly stupid comment... it was just the best! i was soo bummed when they replaced him with Colin Quinn, who I actually didn't despise as much as some people, but he just came off as REALLY BAD after following Norm! I also loved Norm's imitations of Burt Reynolds and David Letterman... he's the greatest, definitely one of my favorite cast members ever!

Sun Jun 22 2003I loved Norm - his delivery and timing seem so natural and are so impeccable! I also like how he stuck it to SNL after they fired him.

Mon May 12 2003Reads a line like no other.

Mon May 12 2003Pretty funny on Weekend Update, but certainly not a genius like some people think he is. Talented and funny but average.

Mon Apr 14 2003Just an idiot, but occasionally he could be funny on update

Wed Dec 04 2002His Weekend Update thing on SNL was hilarious, but otherwise...he's just an annoying and loud comedian.

Sun Dec 01 2002The great part about Norm is his ability to connect with an audience on a level most other comedians only hint at. Most comedians are a show on stage; Norm's a funny guy on a platform. <p> His writing style is the real key to his success. He doesn't recycle the same ten jokes, substituting subject, object, and order the way so many other comedians do. We're never subjected to hearing about his nagging wife or confused children, his take on peculiar teenagers or modern political issues. This is a man that truly brings the funny. Sure, his delivery's dry. He's a terrible actor! The best part is, though, that he knows it and takes advantage of it at every turn. He makes himself likeable by breaking that theatrical "fourth wall" and all but admitting he's delivering lines, and he makes himself memorable by writing for an audience that's heard it all. Kudos!

Mon Nov 25 2002He's quite overrated for someone who told jokes about the same people over and over again.
by bigbadta
Sat Nov 23 2002Norm was awesome! he was unfairly fired by Lonre because he made jokes about OJ Simpson and Lorne is a friend of OJ. ridiculous...
by lukskywlkr
Thu Oct 17 2002He was not funny. That says it all.

Tue Apr 16 2002News with Norm is about the only part of SNL that I like.

Tue Apr 16 2002Best person to do weekend Update, and did a hilarious impression of Burt Reynolds (you must see this on the Celebrity Jeopardy sketch.)

Wed Feb 20 2002MacDonald is proof that there really was somebody in the SNL cast who could suck more at doing Weekend Update than Kevin Nealon.

Tue Jul 10 2001Norm on SNL was truely a breath of fresh air to the show. His delivery was so unique, it did not matter what the material was, he could make it funny. Also watching his in sketches was hilarious because you knew he could not act. I understand why NBC fired him, it was just because he really didn't belong on the show. This gives him better opportunities to find an outlet for his brand f humor.

Sun Jul 01 2001He´s SO cute, I wish he could be on all night long! Sorry, just had to say that, I´ll go away now......BYE!

Mon Jun 25 2001Norm McDonald is a TERRIBLE actor, but his lack of acting talent only seems to increase his power as a comedian.
by afterglow70
Sat Jun 09 2001Well, someone has to have the dry sense of humor, I guess. He really sux. Sorry Norm.

Thu Feb 01 2001The one thing I saw him do - the Cowardly Lion from the Wizard of Oz - was hilarious. I'll reserve a Great rating though until I see more.

Sun Dec 17 2000From his show Norm to his movie Dirty Work, Norm MacDonald proves he is one of the funniest comedians in the 90's. His voice is calm, yet his facial expressions show his emotions. His acting skills are great and he has no problem with making a skit into a real life situation. Norm makes his shows and his movies appealing to teenagers.

Thu Dec 14 2000This guy is really funny. So sometimes he can be a little crass, but really it's all in the name of comedy. His Weekend Updates were great. He added character to the skit, and we were not wishing the whole time that he was Kevin Nealon, like we do with the really bad current anchorman for Weekend Update.
by froggy2
Wed Dec 13 2000He is so sarcastic that I completely relate to him. When he did the news update he was especially funny. His movies pretty much flopped, but his show is good. Why did he get fired from SNL?
by lilshf4f
Wed Dec 13 2000I think MacDonald portrays the perfect male chauvenistic pig. His character shows him as a uncaring person for other people's property. His show Norm portrays a person that is really unaware of what life is all about.
by b_boy2c4
Mon Dec 11 2000His shows and movies are great. When watching TV, I'd much rather see witty humor than staged acting. Unlike old shows like Full House or Perfect Strangers, Norm talks about issues of today.
by mickmac5
Sun Dec 10 2000Norm is funny. I like his style of comedy. He's real slick. His facial expressions are hilarious. When he's being sarcastic it's hilarious. I loved him on Saturday Night Live, he is so funny. I just start to laugh when I see him, because I'm expecting to hear something funny.
by bahasa55
Sun Dec 10 2000I hate Norm. He is boring, especially his news show. Everytime that came one I would change the channel and usually I wouldn't come back. I don't understand why he still is on the show because he isn't funny at all.
by jackie_cape
Wed Dec 06 2000this man is as funny as a root canal, not to mention dry. can't stand to hear utter one word.
by beckybunny
Wed Nov 22 2000The news skit on SNL had to be the best part for Norm. It just isn't as funny with the people who were before or after him. However, he has two stupid movies and a stupid TV show called Norm that got canceled after one season. He is also in some good movies like Billy Madison and Duece Bigalow.
by shmacky
Wed Nov 22 2000Norm has an original comic style, but he dosn't necessarily fit with the other cast members. I loved when he did the news, even though the writing was lousy when he was doing it. Watch him once, and if you think he's at all funny, you'll like everything he does. It's just a matter of liking his original style.
by acarcba6
Fri Nov 17 2000Another great SNL alumnus. Similar style to Adam Sandler, the obnoxious drunk, stupid, working class hero.
by munson
Mon Aug 28 2000Norm is one weird dude, but pretty damn funny. I can understand why some people don't find him funny. He is crude and is not afraid to take shots at people. It is for exactly that reason that I like him. He is at his best on talk shows. For example, he appeared on Dennis Miller's millenium HBO show and, for each segment he was in, he seemed to be preoccupied with slipping in the pejorative for the male private parts as often as possible. Definitely not for everyone, but I couldn't help laughing.

Sun Apr 02 2000good clean humour
by samiam
Thu Feb 17 2000Hilarious..the reasons that he was dumped are pretty ironic. Wasn't Saturday Night Live based on non-comformist views and sarcastic humor?! SNL was the loser here.
by shafty
Tue Feb 15 2000Norm really got the shaft when he was railroaded off of the show. I think his 'Weekend Update' was much better than that of Colin Quinn
