An excellent biography by Robert Shelton, who wrote the first review of a Bob Dylan performance in Greewich Village. Exhaustively covers the period of Dylan's youth in Minnesota, his period in the 60's folk music scene, his break away to Rock music, the Woodstock years and his re-emergance in the early 70's, first touring with The Band and then the Rolling Thunder Review. The edition I read included an update that carried the story into the 90's that was interesting, though not as essential.
