I never had a Nintendo, and only a couple of my friends had one. Duck Hunt was fun with the gun accessory, but that was about the only game I was any good at.

I've never had any particular interest in electronic gaming. However, I find it an interesting sociological observation that so many of the highly rated items on this list are in this category.

I still know the Mario Brothers theme. UPDATE: Alright, so I must add that I am even more old school than Nintendo since the first system I played on was an Atari 2600, but the Nintendo title Tecmo Super Bowl took me from a casual football fan to an obsessive one, so I gotta give them credit for that...

It was one big step to take the video games home, and to the TV in front of us. There were so many simple yet fun games that may be even harder to beat than the modern video games. Now when I look back to the games available on the original Nintendo, they all seem to be lacking the sophistication of graphics and sound, but the fun of those games are never less even now.

Ah, the memories of playing Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros, Excitebike, and Tetris.

Ate, slept, and breathed Nintendo.  Also had a Super Nintendo and a Nintendo 64 and stopped after that.

Who can forget the Nintendo, i spent alot of hours infront of this thing and a lot of good times so, 5 stars!

There was nothing like it to a kid in the 9th grade!I will never forget how awesome that game was!

I bought the kids a Nintendo game set in the mid eighties and they loved it. We still have it, and it still works like new.

The best party device ever known to man. How many parties included competing with everyone in the room on one of these things? I mean the games then were excellent party games, because you didn't have to get so involved, like in rpg and such. The best one for parties was RC-Pro am.

I bought my first Nintendo system back in 1988. Mnay of the games, I beat. The first 3 Super Mario Brothers were cinchy. Duck Hunt sucked, but the greatest video game was The Legend of Zelda. It took 2 years to finally beat that game. Awesome.

Nintendo catapulted itself to greatness in the 80s and still is the greatest video game company without a doubt. During the 80s, the mastermind Shigeru Miyamoto invented the immortal Mario franchise that would become synomyous with video gaming as we know it. The Nintendo Entertainment System and the Game Boy both crushed their competition and had an incredibly vast library of varied games.

My sister and I saved up and bought a Nintendo system for ourselves. It was a hefty price when you only get like three dollars a week or so for allowance, but it was worth it. I can't tell you how many hours were wasted on that thing, but it was fun. We could play Tetris and Gauntlet for hours on end. It's kind of sad to see those old classics get revamped for the new consoles. 3D isn't always better. Like who would have thought that they should change TETRIS? At least with Gauntlet, Midway Games made the leap successfully and created a unique game while keeping the spirit of the original intact.

Nintendo was video game nirvana for the longest time, being a HUGE step up from the graphics and capabilities of the Atari. God only knows how many hours I spent in front of it, playing role-playing games. Not to mention Mario Bros.
