Running late, but I just wanted to say a little something to everyone before the year runs out. "a little something..." Happy New Year to one and all!

Three stars is in line for New Year's Eve, as it serves significance as the ending of an old year and a new one on its way. But, I do not see this as an opportunity to stay up all night partying and boozing it up, despite what "the others" may do. As with any other night, I love nothing more than some shuteye so as to awaken the next day refreshed. New Year's or any other time.

It's been my experience that New Year's Eve falls at the end of the year and it doesn't matter on what day of the week. My advice is to get your yearly affairs wrapped up by the time this celebration comes along.

As long as I have my family and my health every holiday is a special blessing.

This is a holiday that to me never lives up to what I think it should. By Jan1.of each year I'm just ready to get back in the groove of the new year.

My News Years eve party days are thankfully over. Now it's a more peaceful, though more enjoyable time, listening to Auld Lang Syne with people you are close to, and remembering times past and thinking good thoughts about the future. Plus watching alot of football the next day is always good. :)

I much rather would prefer hanging around the house and having a cookout on New Year's Day than seeing a 50% increase in the number of car accidents on this totally overrated holiday.

IF You like to go to clubs this is the night to go...other than that it can be a depressing time

New Year's Eve is not a holiday. Neither is Christmas Eve. Baby Jesus received his gifts the day he was born, not the day before. (What would have been the point?) But I digress. New Year's Eve is an excuse to get plastered and act stupid in general.

It's also my birthday, so it's extra nice. Does that mean I'm cheating when I give it 5 stars? :)

When I was five, New Year's used to be one of my favorite holidays. I got to stay up until midnight playing with my friends and eat tons of candy, as my parents were too busy (we'll call it that) to pay much attention. Now, it seems the only way to have a good time on New Year's is to be drunk.

I think New Year's Eve is an awful holiday on a number of levels. The most obvious is that it's used as an excuse for people to go out and drink too much. Talking to drunks at parties and bars is not high on my list of things I like to do, and I certainly don't appreciate driving home on the same (often icy) roads with party animals. New Year's Eve parties and events are almost always really crowded, noisy, and chaotic, which is a drag. Throw in the whole nostalgia thing and the fact that you have to stay up at least until midnight (that really does me in these days), and the holiday goes down the toilet as far as I'm concerned. If I had to eliminate one holiday, New Year's Eve would be it.

My father always called New Year's Eve, "Amateur Night." Now as an adult, I really understand what he means. All the non-drinkers go out drinking thinking they can handle it then try to drive home. I never go out for it, preferring to stay home with my wife and maybe some friends or family. Too old for stupid risks.

The New Year's Eve celebrations of these past few years have been really depressing to me. The change into year 2000 was so boring because I didn't do anything, just sat in front of the t.v., said "wow," made sure the old comp still worked, and went to bed. I was close to tears because at such a moment I wanted to do something exciting. In my younger days, however, we'd get together with family friends and they were the first time I'd stayed up really late and had sparkling grape juice, etc. Nowadays we have celebrations the night before. But it just doesn't cut it. I think it's a pretty cool thing- another year has passed. But I never feel as emotional as I think I should.

New Years Eve quit being fun after I turned 21. I think that I have stayed up to see the ball drop once since then. WOW! I am old!

The most over-hyped, over-rated holiday. Sure it's generally a fun night out, and it's really cool to see the year roll-over like that. But the expectations for this night are set so high that it's way too tough to live up to them. Whatever party you're at, you're wondering if you should have gone to a different one. All too often on New Year's Eve I've found myself watching other people act as if they're having the time of their lives while I'm standing there wondering why I feel like it's just any other night...
