The rising stars will be true Conservatives (largest political group in the country, by the way) that do not wavor and do not apologise for being Conservative. Until someone steps up, the Dems will continue to win elections.

Sounds like a hell of a name for a band.

Abichara's review sums this up. Louie's caps it off nicely. When (or if) the GOP gets back to the formula of conservatism, they will win again. If they want to continue this "reach across the Aisle" game, the Dems are going to be in power to the end.

Assuming there appear 'rising stars' in God's Own Party's near future, they will be accomplished con men, capable of convincing the gullible that they're "true Conservatives" (whatever the Hell that means). Soon enough, sufficient numbers of sheep will become disenchanted with the Decomrats, and it will be the Rethuglicans turn to screw everything up. Haven't you noticed it's professional wrestling yet?

Not sure how to rate this because I think the republican party will, in the short and intermediate run, continue to falter and recede. Rather than espouse the views which catapulted them into power, quite formidably, they have been infiltrated, fatally, by the country club republicans who stand for . . . well, they don't really stand for anything. Maybe greed, patriotism (but that irritating jingoistic kind) and irresponsible spending. When the republican party really stands for something worhtwhile, it looks a lot like conservatism. They no longer can retreat back to conservatism credibly. The party, by adopting neo-liberalism, has no reason to continue to exist. The wildly radical liberals have overtaken (and now control) the democrat party, and the US government, and there is no such thing in America today as a moderate democrat with anything resembling power. The power in America today rests in the activist liberal faction, which is sad as one of its objectives is to keep A... Read more

The GOP, if it's to have any hope for the future, has to offer a distinct brand separate from what's being offered today from both parties, which involves tax, spend and monetize the debt where need be. Neither party currently has the answer, and until the GOP in specific gets that, they will be stuck in the wilderness. Right now, they're getting the brunt of the blame for the failures of the economy, which is really acting as a millstone over their necks in terms of their prospects for the future. Some practical steps: 1. Appeal to the young. Give the brand some energy, new ideas, and even new leaders. Challenge the notion that the free markets created the economic collapse. Don't be afraid to take on the banks and the Federal Reserve and their easy money policies when need be. They all share significant blame for the problem. The party should aggressively promote reform proposals, especially on oversight with the Federal Reserve, whose failures in managing the monetary supp... Read more

There are new stars in The Republican Party that just may take the mantle from talk show hosts like Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity. Rush's program and to a lesser extent even Hannity's program have become too much same old ,same old even by those that agree staunchly with their views. Republicans want new people with no baggage to the past, that remakes the Republican Party. This means that Newt Gingrich cannot be that nominee either. Rep. Mike Pence of Indiana (a solid conservative, not a RINO Republican) could easily win the southern states too and is totally willing to take on Obama socialist ,high tax, government meddling . (Thankfully someone is) Rep. Marco Rubio (R- Florida) well liked by many and helps the important Florida vote in the 2010 election. Considered a likely Governor candidate in Florida . Several other new politicians are coming on the scene for the GOP. The GOP knows it can no longer run old geezers from the Cretacious era in top spots for the party a... Read more
