I found the album's production to be too slick. The slick production does not go well with what the songs Of Nevermind are suppose to be>>>> Punk meets heavy metal. The production doesn't even work well with the poppy aspects of the album. Songs like 'come as you are' and even 'lithium'(despite the loud chorus) have pop undertones- nice melodies but the production still does not work because they make the songs seem totally artificial. Better represtations of Nirvana's talent of making more melodic, slow music can be heard on the Unplugged record. Saying this, I think Nevermind is most enetertainting with the more slow songs like 'polly' and 'something in the way'. But the attempts at hard and loud songs are major detriments. Songs like SLTS, In Bloom, and Drain You are contrived. I thought it was the production that made the songs seem bad so I listened to Muddy banks and other live material and I realized that the songs are weak. Nirvana was pretty good with making slower-paced songs ... Read more

Nevermind is probably the best Nirvana's effort and it's the only I can suggest to neophytes. The problem is that only the 1st 4-5 songs are good (not masterpieces!). The sound is naif, spontaneous, but childish too...Anyway, much better than the absolutely unheardable "In utero" or the incredibly boring "Unplugged...". If you want to hear the best "grunge-sound", let's play "Monster" by R.E.M. or TEN by Pearl Jam...

Nevermind was almost an instant success, or least it appeared that way, with the popularity of the band on the rise, largely from the Smells Like Teen Spirit song and video. In any case, they were in the right place at the right time and the rest is rock and roll history. Most of the Nevermind record was interesting, despite a slow song or two.

When I was younger I used to listen to this album quite a bit. It's good despite the fact that the songs have been played to death. The only reason this album did so well is because the media blew it out of proportion. Soundarden and Alice in Chains had more talent. Chris Cornell is arguably the greatest vocalist of all the grunge bands and just about every song on Facelift could have been a single. Whereas Nevermind had a few great songs a few decent songs and some filler. I would have givin Nirvana 4 stars if they weren't so overrated. Some people just listen to music to fit in.

Realeased nearly twenty years ago Nevermind is still as great as it was the day it came out and now is considered a classic and one of the greatest albums of all time by many, and that's not too hard to argue with if you've ever heard the album. Everything about this album was reveloutionary the cover, the name, and most importantly the music it includes. Twelve songs in total it was the album that introduced grunge to the world and created a tottally unique and new BIG sound in rock music that hasn't been duplicated since or yet. Nevermind like all great rock albums has a sound to it that is unique and sounds unlike anything else before or since, as on albums such as, Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Dark Side Of The Moon, Highway 61 Revisited, Are You Experienced?, Tommy, or even OK Computer for that matter, anyways back to the point. You can guarantee that with every song there will be a pounding beat and heavy shredding guitars and grainy, rasped, and angry vocals. Songs... Read more

Nevermind the '90s.The best selling albums of that decade are none too good. Most current popular albums are even worse. However, there's plenty of good sounds to be found if one puts some effort into searching. We're blessed to have nearly a hundred years of fantastic recorded music available on CD.If you're impressed by groups like Nirvana, I suggest you give a listen to the band they wanted to be: THE STOOGES.

IMO one of the few albums that lives up to its rating as a classic, based purely on the strength of the songs. But, i dont buy into its mythical status as the soundtrack to all that pompous Generation Z load of b*llocks. Personally, if I'd made an album I wouldn't want it to be associated with a generation of unmotivated, soap-dodging, badly dressed middle class geeks who couldnt be fecked to get a decent job.

This and still is the most overrated rock album of the 1990's kurt's uninspiried guitar playing, paved the way for the worst genres in music history (Emo, Pop Punk, Alternative and especially nu metal) and ruined a great band (Metallica) And courtney love is just as terrible as kurt. Thank God Alice in Chains were better and always will be better than nerdvana. Nirvana was the beginning of the end for music in america.

Great album. The only song that I DON'T like is "Smells Like Teen Spirit". Don't be mad, it's only my opinion, and it doesn't mean anything.

By the end of the 80's, if not long before, I had pretty much given up on the idea that the popular music scene would ever again produce anything that would remotely hold any interest for me. In the mid 70's, with youthful zeal and idealism, I had been enraged by how insufferably bland and puerile rock music had gotten on the radio, TV, at concert venues, on records, etc. The Rolling Stones and Beatles of the 60's had been replaced by Aerosmith of the 70's, who had been replaced in the 80's by Bon Jovi, disco, corporate Blondie and Clash, Poison, Bryan Adams, etc. etc. etc. By 1990, I was inured to the unpleasant truth that this wasn't going to change...indeed, it was only going to continue getting worse...and appeased my taste for good music by searching out old CD's that I had missed in my youth, or by exploring new musical paths...independent, jazz, ethnic, classical, etc. Early one rainy Saturday morning in 1990 or 91, I think, I remember waking up (hung-over, I think) and ploppin... 4.5 One of those rock records, like the Beatles first album and Sgt. Pepper's, Are You Experienced?, or Never Mind the Bollocks, among others, that comes along and neatly divides the scene into a before and after. I'd imagine that most people reading this are familiar with the contents, so I won't get into it, but it really is one of the best and most influential records of the 90's, and really a cornerstone in rock history

This is not an indie record. All the songs sound exactly the SAME! What is it with everyone's obsession with Nirvana? To say it simply, they suck.

Nirvana's Nevermind album was one of if not the best album of the 90s. Smells like teen spirit was rated the best rock song of 1991 even though it came out in September of that year

Nevermind is a good album. Nothing more. The hype piled upon it by MTV and the rest of the corporate music biz was very unwarranted. They just used these guys to push a new marketing wave. The fact that it is now considered a classic shows how well they marketed it. People go on about how they saved us from hair metal? Gimme a break. Nirvana was not too far removed from that genre. The only difference was that they wore flannel. They started a new fashion trend that was no more real than Poison. Kurt Cobain himself likened Nirvana to a 90's version of Cheap Trick. Give me the Replacements any day.

Every once and a while an album comes along and shakes the music industry with a shot in the arm. This album did just that to the hair metal scene and it was so fun to watch it fall, as well as listening to the hell out of this album, which is what I did in college.

There are not many albums that you can say are one of the greatest albums of all time. But this one is the greatest album of all time. Kurt Cobain vocal and guitar playing along with lyrics and great songs there is no other album in the history of Rock and roll that can beat it. Kurt Forever

How can you put a Nirvana album up there as a classic when you have bands like Fleetwood Mac, Beatles,Cream,Hendrix, etc. They are one of the most talentless bands ever!

Smells like teen spirit... smells like 100,000 cockrockers in spandex out of work. Guess it opened the door to the late 90's DJ scene. Nevermind captures angst/drug abuse, making it a period piece representing the early 90s.

Easily one of the best albums of the 90's. Nirvana's "Nevermind" album comes through song after song with pure classics while avoiding the "filler" songs a lot of albums contain to make it over 45 minutes long. Definitely one to keep in the CD changer.

This is the album that started the whole grunge scene, and deserves a good listen. Part of Kurt Cobain's legacy and a great album to boot, it deserves to be in everyone's library. This is definitely one of my favorite CDs, it's one of those albums that has no bad tracks!

Another great CD from the early 90's! Marked the transition from that old 80's to the 90's rock. It is a great mechanism for getting out of happiness, it is more for when you are depressed. It is perfect for moving from one city to the next.

The start of a revolution? Maybe not? Nirvana brought grunge to the mainstream, but was that a good thing? This album is too polished and pretty to really be Nirvana. Incesticide, unplugged, or In Utero are all better, more authentic. But this was the first big album, it changed the music scene in the US. Everyone should own their own copy.
