Thu Jul 23 2009I started watching NCIS because Mark Harmon and David McCallum were in it. I am still watching it because it is so good. It is a terrific crime drama with great story lines. What makes it different from other crime shows is the comedy. Although, I am starting to see other crime dramas bringing in a little comedy. However, the thing that really gets me is the character studies. There is always something unfolding about them. I love how Tony is so conflicted because he has feelings for Ziva, but won't ask her out because he doesn't want to break one of Gibbs' rules. Now that she's gone, it will be interesting to see how Tony copes without her around. The only thing that disappointed me was when Kate (who was later killed off) risked her life to keep Tony company when he was sick, and he never found out about it. Obviously, DiNozzo is my favorite character. The show is great. My friends know not to call me when a new episode is on, unless it's an emergency. This is the only show that I wo... Read more

Sun Jul 05 2009I seem to be one of the few who do not like this show. I just don't get what all the fuss is about, to be honest. Mark Harmon is the only thing worth watching here, the dialogue, acting and story-lines leave a lot to be desired. It could have potential, if the characters were more serious and engaging. Instead, they are very immature and have no presence at all (except for Mark). I think his acting talents are wasted in this one. Highly over-rated!

Sat Jun 13 2009Where to begin. Poor dialogue, predictable plots. CSI knockoff. The Latin girl is good looking. It was over for Mark Harmon when he played Ted Bundy years ago.

Thu Mar 05 2009NCIS is just another formulaic, hour long crime drama from CBS. It can be entertaining enough to keep me watching when my wife has it on, but its not a show I ever go out of my way to view. Overall it is mildly entertaining, but completely unoriginal.

Thu Mar 05 2009I can't believe how much I love this show! It was on for about 5 years before I caught on to it, and now with the help of marathons, I've probably seen every episode 3 times. The cast is terrific and their "dysfunctional family" type interactions make the show such a pleasure to watch. As a crime-show junkie I'm amazed by the fact that their stories are great, sometimes harrowing, yet I usually have at least one laugh-out-loud moment in each episode. Tony is not just a hunk, but a very funny guy. It'd be worth it for him alone, but I also love the rest of the cast.

Sun Jul 06 2008Grrreat casting. OK, so I love Tony. My daughter loves Abby. I didn't like Lauren Holly (in part because I always find that these bureaucratic layers just distract from good stories, but I also didn't like her hair, her voice and just her). Good stories, especially when the motives are simple - personal things rather than "terrorism" which is abstract for this show. Mainly it is just fun to see the characters act and interact.

Sat Aug 04 2007I LOVE this show! Stephen King just wrote a Great piece in Entertainment Weekly about the misuse of the term "Guilty Pleasures" so I won't call NCIS one but it is just plain enjoyable. with Gibbs, Ziva and the gang it is more about the interaction than about creating false, self-absorbed unrealistic situations etc. such as any Law and Order. Worth watching to get to know the characters and the writing for entertainment is obvious.

Wed Nov 22 2006the only military based show i can really get into. "the unit" is ok sometimes, but it tends to go off in a jingoistic "america must do anything and everything to remain the big kid on the block" direction most of the time. NCIS, on the other hand is funny, witty and entertaining. the cast has perfect chemistry and the episodes are original and well thought out 99% of the time. i hope the show can maintain this level of quality for a long time to come.

Mon Nov 07 2005Early on Mark Harmon's character was far too abrasive to be likable, but the character has been toned down to become a multi dimensional father figure, albeit a cranky one. It's nice to see Michael Weatherly [Dark Angel] get steady work on a show that might last more than a couple seasons.

Mon Oct 24 2005Well I suppose Army, Air Force, Marines etc can't be far behind. Isn't anyone in Hollywood capable of thinking up a new idea?

Wed Oct 05 2005What a great show! The dialog is so entertaining and goes from serious to funny in a second! I love Mark Harmon and David McCallum. I still have a problem looking at "Ducky" and not remembering Ilia from "The Man From U.N.C.L.E. What a crush I did have!!!

Fri May 20 2005I LOVE this show. The character banter is hilarious and Mark Harmond makes me laugh with the whole straight laced tough guy boss thing he does. Abby and Ducky are great in their supporting roles and the plots are usually pretty good. This show gets better with time as you get to know the characters.

Sun Apr 25 2004Realizing there is a lot of HOLLYWOOD in the show, there is some true reality to the mission of NCIS that is depicted. Its realistic in some areas and far fetched in others, but as it goes for entertainment...its good to great. 4.5 stars. Next season ought to be even better, hoping they will add just a few more characters and authentic cases. The back and forth bantering and teasing makes me return each week.

Fri Apr 23 2004With the glut of mind numbing reality shows on network TV these days, I had just about given up on finding anything worth watching. But Navy NCIS is smart, with interesting characters that each have their own quirks. I love the way the characters interact, with a wry banter that seems nearly improvisational. I never miss it.

Thu Nov 20 2003I like Mark Harmon, but this is a lackluster CSI set in the military. The supporting characters seem to try to hard or just a bit to cheesy for anyone to care.

Wed Nov 19 2003The dialogue in this show is terrible. It's so bad I can't tell if the acting is bad too, but my gut tells me YES.

Tue Oct 28 2003Anything that Mark Harmon is involved in is usually great. I`ve watched him over the years in St Elsewhere and Chicago Hope, and he doesn`t disappoint in NCIS either. My husband has retired from the Navy, and he just loves Jag and Navy NCIS.

Fri Oct 03 2003I had such high expectations for this one. For what is supposed to be a military CSI, it just seems awfully slow paced.

Mon Sep 29 2003Good show, even though it is a CSI ripoff.

Tue Sep 23 2003Saw the opening episode and I can't wait for next week.
