I found National Van Lines Inc after being scammed by another company who stole my belongings held them hostage until I paid them an outrageous amount to release my belongings. I found National Van Lines after reviewing various websites that provided ratings on movers and across the board this company was highly recommended. I explained my situation to them and they were more than understanding and accommodating. I had to move a large one bedroom apartment from Long Beach CA to Plano, Texas. However because I was duped by the prior company, I was already in Texas while my belongings were still in California. My customer service rep Tony (through Good Jewish Sons Moving) made all the arrangements for National Van Lines to arrange, evaluate, pack, transfer and rebuild my belongings upon delivery. Tony was extremely thorough in explaining the process to me and providing documentation to support the explanation promptly and correctly. He made himself available to reach at all times f... Will not ever use Nation Van Lines again.... While our driver was great and easy to work with (and one of the few that doesn't smoke like a chimney), National promised to have our stuff to us on 2/1 or 2/2. THEN they pushed it off and push it off again and pushed it off again. Never did get the straight story. We had the pleasure of camping in our home on air mattresses for almost a week. National was to reimburse us for the purchase of these things and 1/2 of our food. I send receipts in almost a month ago and am still fighting with them to get our money. Further, DO NOT deal with Joe. He hasn't a clue and is the worst!!!!!!

Never again... I'll either rent a U haul or hire chipman Portland to Los Angeles. I've moved all over the world and never had such a bad one of their agents came to the house to assess and give the sales pitch, talked the talk gave me all the assurances. When the movers came, we had self packed and specifically left larger items that were fragile or expensive furniture that we paid them to pack or crate, As agreed. Long Story short, items were supposed to be delivered on the 1st, after numerous un answered calls, get a call from a driver that he'll arrive in an hour, this was the 6th. Was out of the country on business at this point. Truck then delivers on the 12th, in a rental truck with no rear walkway, just a lowering deck. Takes two guys 4 hours to unload into a storage unit. Which took 2 mexican guys I found a week later 3 hours to unpack and pack into my new home. All the items that were specifically labeled delicate or expensive, were not wrapped or boxed or even tied... Read more

We had a great experience from beginning to end. They were specific, on time and worked very hard. They worked within our time constraints which was a huge benefit. The only think I would change is that if we chose the insurance again I would do the $0 deductible. Who wants to fork out money right after a move to replace something. Instead we chose to not replace the item instead. Such a minor broken thing that it didn't really matter.

I moved from Chicago to Portlan Oregon. It was all smooth from the first call with these guys, email communication, assesment, costs, pickup and delivery. There not to exceed price was really not to exceed. I shot the weight limit by about 100 pounds. The driver was very professional and very polite. He visited my home a day earlier to make sure he has parking space. Came on time on the pickup date. Got very professional helpers with him. they packed and loaded every thing in 3 hours. On the date of delivery he called a day earlier. Setup the delivery over a weekend. Arrived on time and unloaded, unpacked and re-assembled my furniture. All along the communication was very good. The price was higher than few agencies but lower than other reknowned longdistance carriers. I loved this move. I would recommend them to anybody who is doing a long distance move.

I had the BEST experience dealing with National Van Lines out of Chicago. After going through the worst ordeal with an auto shipping company I was very nervous to ship my household items. From my initial email contact with National to the day my stuff got delivered I felt as though I was in good hands. My emails were always answered promptly, their phones were always answered and everyone I dealt with from the sales rep, to operations person, credit department and movers provided great customer service. My move was over estmated so I was very happy when my move from AZ to WI only ended up being $1300. My items were picked up and delivered in the time-frame I requested and I was very pleased overall. An important thing to remember is a lot of big moving companies have agents throughout the states so my best recommendation is to deal directly with the van line company if you can, more than likely you will recieve better service and be in direct contact with people from the headquar... I moved from GA to CA in 2006. This company took apart (without my knowledge/consent) my two bicycles, my dining room table, and a futon frame, and then didn't keep the hardware to reassemble them anywhere NEAR the items. I was so upset, when I saw my things, piled up to the ceiling by two or three strong men, while I was only one reasonable strong woman. It was a toal nightmare. They also packed my prescriptions, which I'd made a point of showing to the person who'd be packing my bathroom items, telling him NOT to pack them---yet he still did! Their employees were rude, stupid, and lazy, and treated me as if I was ruining their day because they had to do their jobs! Never again will I use National Van Lines! Never!
