The Mall is a great place to people watch. Being that its DC there is always something going on, which might be political. Its a great place to stop, rest, and take in DC! Each time I am in DC I always visit the National Mall!

The most beautiful area of Washington D.C. (despite the continuous construction). Jefferson Monument is a must see in the spring with the blossuming of the cherry trees that surround the monument.

The authorities are chopping it up for political correctness. They added the Holocaust and Indian museums, I think. I want HUNNIC museum!

Extremely majestic view from atop the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. When I visited DC back in the early 90's (and was running routinely) I remember taking one of greatest early morning runs along the mall from the Washington Monument to the Lincoln memorial... the treadmill just doesn't give me the same type of high :-)

It's the peoples park and you could never see everything on it in your lifetime. GREAT viewing of the exterior buildings and monuments at night. And of course it's all free. Try the Buffet dining at the Capitol Holiday Inn at night for reasonable priced dining and good food. There isn't much else within walking distance except a Mcdonalds on the same street as the hotel. 2 blocks across from the Air and Space Muesuem

A pretty interesting place with a great scenery and view of the capital and the Washington monument. I very much enjoy the various celebrations that go on here- espescially the 4th of July celebration. The Summer Folklife Festival is pretty interesting as well. I enjoy playing sports here when I visit in the fall. Overall, a great place to visit.

I've spent the last few Fourth of July's there, and it's definitely an adventure. Wonderful fireworks, millions of people -- like one big pseudo-nonalcoholic party. A good time in the summer heat.

Many people seem to sell the National Mall short, since it doesn't have a thrill ride in it, or a water park. That's a shame, since it really is very pretty and a wonderful place to spend some time. Just stop and smell the roses (figuratively at least). You'll be glad you did.

Okay, it's a pretty place with easy access to lots of interesting attractions. Okay, it's got some nice scenery and is quite refreshing after waltzing around Foggy Bottom. Okay, it's definitely a worthwhile place to spend about ten minutes. But really, what is so great about the National Mall? It's just not that interesting, and compared to a lot of the other stuff in Washington, it's pretty boring. And I really fail to see how patriotism comes into it at all. Flags scattered all over the place? No, I'm not buying that. Take care, everyone!

I'm sorry. It's just not that wonderful. It's a nice place with some nice things to do around it, but remember, tne National Mall was conceived maby years ago, and it's still just that, a nice place.

Outstanding. This place will inspire a little patriotism in you even if you are not a very patriotic person. There is no better way to spend a beautiful Spring Washington day than taking your bike down to the mall, bringing a frisbee and a kite, and just spend the day relaxing. It will make you proud to be an American, and bitter as hell if you are not.

You couldn't find this much to do within the entire limits of most major U.S. cities.

The National Mall is one of the most popular places for students in DC. It's a great place to relax, study, and chat w/ friends.

The entire National Mall is still an impressive, beautiful example of the patriotism and spirit of our country. Peaceful, awe inspiring, fun and relaxing, it's a place that every American should visit.
