Nashville sucks. They might be a level above the rest of Tennessee.. but that's not saying much (at all). They fall FAR short of being a real city. Nashville is a string of suburban strips... no real urban feel. They are years behind the times. Businesses that real cities have had for 20-30 years (at least), Nashville is still dreaming about the day they get some of these (or maybe they are all proud of themselves for getting it last year). Most amenities or anything there is sub par. There is no diversity, no (good) history, and no real urban feel. I moved from Chicago, IL.. to Nashville, TN (in January 2007).. to Columbus, OH (in August 2009). Obviously Chicago takes the cake with those... but Nashville was a daily disappointment. I'm soooo glad to be in Columbus now. It's not Chicago, but it's 100x closer than Nashville will ever be. Anyway.. Nashville is a bubble, and most people are satisfied there bc it's all they know. It's better today than it was 10 or 20 years ago, but that ... Read more

I have now lived in nashville 5 years. I like it a lot better. It has become a great biking city. I avoid driving and that saves me a lot of stress. It is pretty much like any other city and it depends on who you know. I have found friends and a community. Food not bombs shares free food downtown, Little Hamilton Collective provides many things to this city. "Nashville is horrible. I've now lived here for about two months. It's Friday night and it seems that all people do here is drive on the interstate. The pop music that comes out of this place is unbearible. You would think that with all the music that a seperate musical culture would be strong, but the alternative is just a mimic of the mainstream. The people are so into the comerce of the city they don't realise that there is absolutly nothing to do. Rebel flags and a statue of the founder of the KKK stand proud. Rednecks and rich people look harsh at anyone that is different. The police set up speed traps eve... Read more

I moved to Nashville when I was in Elementary school and live there till a few years ago. I must have done something really bad in a past life to have been given that sentence. Its the most redneck, backward place you can imagine. The only thing good to come out of that place is Al Gore and he is scorned by most Nashvillians. Its the capital of a state that codifies bigotry and don't forget its the monkey trail state! A battle they are still fighting!

Nashville is one of those cities I could live in. Driving is a nightmare but that is Tennessee for you...but culture is great and sports are fun there...a city that likes and supports its sports. Lots of great little out of the way restaurants if you venture out of the city a little.

A real good city. Fun with mostly nice people. The typical politically correct BS from some of the posters makes you want to puke. Meanwhile, you KNOW they are whitebreads who live in WHITE neighborhoods while they speak of diversity and KKK and other PC Buzzwords. Be proud Nashville!! A lot to do, good-looking women, good food, good sports, good music, friendly people. What else do you need? Just keep the politically-correct nerds in Seattle.

Nasvhille Is AMAZING! The people before me are just overcritacal and cant try anything new. I do not like country music either. The Titans ROCK, and the preds are ok. The poliecemen are good most of the time and havnt been racist since the early 70's. And scraoefrom the south, get a life. If you want to freeze your whole life ok, and a few counties wanting to abolish gay marriage isnt unsual. God bless, a few state abolished it. There are many corney touristy places to go but there are also many good local place. If you can avoid the croud, Which is the rednecks you guys are seeing, then you will have a great time. If you are moving here the downtown is going through some major development, They are building a lot of new residential skyscraperes. Finally the comments before mine are really off. If Nahsville is so bad the why is it in the top 10 most visited places in the world and is in the top 15 fastest growing. There is obviously something that you guys are missing.

I agree with the last posting. NASHVILLE SUCKS! I was raised there and lived there 20 years, then moved to Seattle. I'd only return if someone dragged my dead, cold body back into that dirty, dilapitated, backwards cestpool of human/factory laden filth. I've never been in a more generic town, besides LA. If you love stereotypical/pop country music, biggots, chicks w/big bleached hair, dirt, pollution and rednecks..... by all means MOVE THERE!

Nashville sucks pretty much like any other city in the south. Fine if you go to visit for a couple of days, but it is so backwards and redneck that I wouldn't live down there in a million years.

In 1941, Nashville was granted the first FM license in the United States . Music City then became the first to enjoy static-free radio. Elvis Presely recorded more than 200 of his songs at RCAs Historic Studio B on Music Row. You say music isn't your thing? Listen to this...President Theodore Roosevelt coined the phrase good to the last drop, words that became a national slogan, after sipping coffee at Maxwell House Hotel. The Hermitage: Home of Andrew Jackson, the 7th President of the United States is located here in Nashville and is also home of the NFL's Tennessee Titans and NHL Nashville Predators.
