Notwithstanding the popularity of "The Nanny", this series was relatively bad in my opinion. I would agree that Fran Drescher is attractive and that her distinctive voice and laugh fit the part; however, there was nothing original about the "fish out of water" premise, the jokes were predictable and non-intellectual, and the acting was stiff. Moreover, eccentric parents and a lingering love interest have been done to death (and much better).

Fran Dresschier's voice either makes you laugh or kills you, depends on your patience level.

Would be average if it weren't for the appearance of Fran Drescher, whose voice drives me right up the wall.

I am so hooked on the hilarious program...I look forward to it everyday. It makes me laugh so hard. The nanny is too funny, makes the funniest faces, and the action with it. Fran is also just drop dead gorgeous! Love it! Hope they keep it on forever. Also, the butler, gotta love him, plus the mom and the grandma...what a hoot, not to mention, Ray Charles is in some of the episodes! Thank-you for having the Nanny on! It is just great! And for all the critics on her voice...well, that is what is part of the humor here!

Fran Drescher is nice to look at,but her voice is unbearable. The show itself was stupid.I would only watch this with the sound off for eye candy as she did wear some sexy outfits.

This has got to be the most annoying crap ever displayed on television. Who ever thought an over bearing loud nasally broad was funny should have to listen to Fran none stop for 24 hours. Another show I could not bring my self to watch. I am suprised it lasted as long as it did.

Though the show may not have any real educational nor convey any important social message (things that a lot of liberal hollywood-types look for nowadays), The Nanny has to be the funniest show ever made! Fran's character is engaging and adorable! Her mom and grandma just put the icing on the cake! I'm so glad Lifetime has decided to rerun the shows!

Okay a few times other than that this show grates on my nerves. I just do not find this very funny. it was on way longer than it should have. Not such an original idea either. The kids lose one of their parents in this case the mom and the nanny comes and changes their lives. Nothing new here.

The show is good, but that Fran is just awful. The Nanny had its moments, but each one was ultimately destroyed by a subsequent whine from Fran.

If you watch the show more than once anyone can see the humor in it. Fran Drescher is annoying, but that's part of her charm. I thought it was one of the few good shows of the 90's.

This show is horrible. Fran Drescher has the most annoying voice and laugh and to top it off she can't act! Charles Shaunghessey wasn't any better either. The only funny person was the actor who played Niles.

I kinda liked this show. I was surprised when I liked it, but I did. I will even watch reruns every now and then. I think it is a wholesome show that the whole family can watch without worries of violence and vulgar language. We need more stuff like this on TV.

I never watched this sitcom when it was in the weekly sitcom line-up because, honestly, as many of u have admitted, I was turned off by the annoying sound of Fran's voice. However, Lifetime has started airing re-runs of The Nanny & I "accidentally" watched a few times & it wasn't long before I became hooked. Fran Drescher is one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen. And The Nanny has many plots & storylines that are made reference to in later episodes that if u remember the incident from the earlier episode u will die laughing at how it's entwined. The Niles & CC feud in itself is a gem!! I can't believe anyone would say Fran can't act--she is incredible! Yea, it may be a silly show, but it's 30 mins I've never laughed harder everytime I sit to watch!

I think that every show should be measured against the greatest show of all time, Rhoda. And, particularly, this show should be since both shows are about the young Jewish experience in the big city in this country. This show could have been a cartoon (the producers even did one ep in all animation) whereas Rhoda could have actually happened (except for the drunken doorman.) I feel that the Nanny, while a funny show, buys into gross stereotypes of Jewish people and doesn't suggest that there are variances in how Jews live and what they are. It suggests that they are all a joke. Wrong! Human beings are human beings. Rhoda was very funny, too, and it had so much more respect for the fact that Jews are like everybody else and that they are great people. By the way, Fran's voice did not get on my nerves. If only I could care about her character. If only her show contained a tidbit of realism. If only the funny characters on this show were human beings instead of jokes. Ms. Dres... Read more

I suppose it was OK, but the plots were a little predictable, some jokes were funny, It was one of those shows that was nice to watch with family and not go crazy about.

The show was on for way too long. Fran D. could be funny but that voice...and the kids were really useless fixtures on the show...the funniest moments were probably between Fran and her mom.

Disreguard all the negative comments everyone else has made...this show is sure to become a classic 20 years down the road...I think it has the power to become the new "I Love Lucy"!

This looked dated from show one. Characters were two-dimensional, jokes were pedestrian, and the selfconscious winking at the camera and the audience was used much too often after a couple of seasons.

Most annoying female lead in history based on a disgusting premise with a mediocre supporting cast. Than she had the gaul to make a movie that was the same damn thing.

This is the most annoying show I've ever seen. Occasionally I sit through the last 5 minutes of it before the Simpsons come on on my local Fox station. And I can honestly say, it is the worst thing you could imagine with that screeching voice.

A friend introduced me to this show in its second season. I have been hooked ever since. I wish I could find a station that shows the reruns. I loved Fran's annoying family. But what really hooked me on this show was the adverserial nature of Niles the butler and CC the business partner. The way those two would just go at each other constantly was hilarious. I still can't believe they got married at the end.

I never watched The Nanny when it originally aired, but now I catch it in reruns and I like the show. Fran is beautiful, and sort of reminds me of That Girl with her crazy, squeaky voice, and her many wardrobe changes. Those Nannies must sure pull down a hefty paycheck!

Fran is very pretty and I would kill to have her measurments, but THAT VOICE! It's funny for about 5 seconds and then you begin to pray for someone to run their nails down a chalkboard just to drown her out. The show itself had a beyond dumb premise - I mean it's one thing when the kids grow up on the show, but these kids were too old for a "Nanny" to begin with. The jokes were even more predictable than the lame love affair between boss and employee and had all the earmarks of having been recycled from a sitcom that didn't make the cut sometime way back in the '70's. Should have been cancelled after the first episode and long forgotten.
