I have been to a couple of events at the Myth. I don't think it is a bad location, but Friday's Godsmack concert was the worst concert I have ever been to and I have been to 20-30 concerts. When I saw that they had sold out and then released another limited number of tickets, I should have been alarmed I guess. I bought my tickets ahead of time and paid the Ticketmaster fees in case it sold out. I will NEVER do that again. We spent $50 a piece to get in the door and by the time we got in there we had missed the first band. The line was horrid. Then getting in the door and trying to move was ridiculous. It was so packed it took you forever and a day to even move 5 feet. To actually see the concert or get a drink was harder. We missed half the concert because we couldn't squeeze through the crowd. I have NEVER not been able to get on the floor. They couldn't even begin a mosh pit of any kind on the floor because it was too pack. Now I hear they are being investigated for being over-capa... This was the worst experience I have had at a concert. Im usually not the guy that complains but this was my 6th godsmack concert and close to my 30th concert overall and this is the worst venue EVER by far. The concert was sold out and it was packed. There was no view of the stage at all. There wasnt even room to squeeze to the floor or to the front of the balcony to see. Unless you get there early and do not leave for bathroom or drinks you're stuck watching the concert on the screen. Godsmack was great I hear but the venue is aweful.

I have been reading the reviews and I think people are just looking for a reason to complain. First, the parking. There is plenty. Over 1,000 spaces then by maplewood mall. Altogether, over 4,000 spaces to accomodate a club whose capacity is 4,400...for free! If you have to walk two minutes through the mall parking lot and you are upset, ARRIVE EARLIER. Second, the Myth does not and has NEVER overbooked a show. There is a set capacity, and therefore a set number of tickets. The reason Jason Mraz was so crowded, it was SOLD OUT both nights. What did you expect? Next, teen night is 16-20. So those of you complaining about the young girls and how they act, SHUT UP. You know they're 16 cause that's what NITRO is. If you are 18 or older and appalled a this, you should have gone to the 18+ clun night MYTH had EVERY saturday. Front door staff in not incompetant. Nor do they aggresively search anyone. The people searching have over 2 years of experience and are fast and unintrusi... Read more

Three of us went to a Rise Against show in Feb. of 08'. It started out with us walking to the Myth from a nearby hotel, I think it was at least 20 below. We stood in line for at least an hour waiting to get, which is fine, I can handle that. Once we got in, got our drinks and looked around, we saw that the majority of the people that were in the crowd were ages 15 to maybe 18, which made me feel a little uncomfortable about drinking because I tend to get out of control at these events, but that still didn't stop me from having a few. We watched the other bands that opened for Rise, they weren't bad, but when Rise came on, I dragged my friend down into the mosh pit, everything was going fine until I looked back at my friend and her face was covered in bl00d. Some dude knocked her in the nose, giving her a black eye and messing up her nose pretty bad. We crowd surfed to the front to get her to security, who then took her to a back room. I tried to follow, but the chick wouldn'... Read more

I been to the myth several times, not impressed. The Mirage was a better club for music( F*CK the Rock is better). No straight line of view to the stage unless you want to stand in the hallways or stairs or get into the pit that takes 20 minutes to get out of if you want a overpriced weak asss drink. If you are under 6' tall you most likley wont even see the stage. Reason for the tv screens all over. Sound is only Ok in the pit in the middle. Every show I have seen was overbooked, no room to move around,a hassle to get a drink. On the good side no bouncer has harassed me. The bartenders 5uck assss! You guys want tips right ? why such a cockkattitude? I have thought about getting a vip room but the sound would 5uck up there worse than downstairs. If I go out to see music I now just got to the Rock or Station 4.

1st: to people complaining about the security, heres a thought. they are doing theyre jobs. they are responsible for keeping everyone inside (including themselves) safe. 2nd: parking. they have a BIG parking lot and if you ask anyone where you are allowed to park they will tell you. if its cold bring a coat it takes a lil time to get in but what do u want them to do? have em personally park ur car?! every concert venue requires a lil walking and this is no different. 3rd: the drinks in the bathroom policy. try ASKING them why they arent allowed. its because its an all ages concert venue for the most part and they dont trust you not to give alcohol to minors! some may scoff but we all know ppl that do it. Lastly I think people need to realize that the Myth isn't perfect and neither are the ppl that work there but what place is, if you give them respect they give you respect. They are doing their jobs just like the rest of us.

I have many younger friends, so I attended a teen night at the Myth. I will never do that again. First off, Mothers: Do you know what your daughters are leaving the house in? The majority of the girls were wearing bras and underwear only. Another large section were wearing tiny skirts or shorts, and shirts with their mid-drift hanging out, which I don't find particularily offensive, but I only counted a handfull of sensible girls wearing jeans, and a relatively conservative top. Now, what girls choose to wear is completely up to them, but at a teen night where there is a mix of 16-20 year olds? If a 20 year old male walks up to a 16 year old girl, many people would say IF anything happens between them, that's illegal. To the staff of the Myth: Do you really want that on your name? If I hadn't watched it happened and only heard about it, I would still be appalled and never want to come to your establishment. Second off, going off what I previously said. As I was dancing, I was wa... Read more

At a recent Flogging Molly concert with my girlfriend I checked both of our coats as it was unfortunately too cold to stand outside in the line for very long without them (and of course we had to walk a few blocks from the mall parking lot since that was as close as we could get). What I didn't know when I handed our coats over was that the Myth happened to have just put a new person in charge of the coat check. Apparently the person was just hanging coats on to the racks without regard to the order of the numbers they were handing out. When the concert was over, this lack of organization quickly caused some significant issues. For every person with a ticket, the 2 people handling the coat check booth had to look through all of the coats one-by-one (because they weren't in order) which took upwards of 5 minutes per person. This meant that there were 2,000 of us sitting around for over 2 hours waiting for our coats. This is the icing on the cake of bad experiences at Myth which I ... Read more

Tonight was my 3rd and last time going to the Myth. I had more fun at B-Dub's then I did at the show. The entire area is covered with harassing cops. We got pulled over, and our driver drunk tested... for no reason. After the 15 minute freezing walk from parking illegally in the mall then come's entering the Myth. I should have remembered to bring some lube to put on the bouncer's fingers before he started shoving them up me. The bartender was cool, he only took 20 mins. to serve me, and only cried a little bit when I pulled out my credit card instead of cash. The sound was sub-par and there was water dripping on the stage from the pipes above. The place was really packed, and they weren't letting much fresh air run through. I was told by some security to put my shirt back on or else I would be kicked out. The worst part was trying to get my coat after the show. It took them 30 minutes, after the show ended for them to form a line for coat check. The show ended at 12:00, and I got to t... Read more

I saw Lenny Kravitz and Kraftwerk. Parking: I had to park far away (but you have to at 1st ave also, right?), plus it was free. Bouncers: Some looked like they were 'roid-raging, but they didn't annoy me. Sound: Excellent, on the floor the bass vibrated me Crowded: Yes, but you can find some areas to get away. Far better than Roy Wilkins or the Target Center. It seems more updated than 1st Ave, but 1st Ave seems to get better bands. I haven't been to the Excel.

I've seen a few shows at this venue. All metal. In the past, I've simply thought of the myth as simply a crappy modern club. But yesterday(Dragonforce 12-12-08) the crossed the damned line. If you've ever been to a metal show, you know that moshpits break out at the drop of a hat. During one of these such moshpits, I was pushed up front. Apparently being pushed up front at a metal show is a no-no, because the security gaurds on the barrier pushed me back by my head and said something to the affect of "Get the F*** back a**hole". I wasn't about to be kicked out, so I got the eff back. That was the first band of three. After that, I went to the bar to get a glass of water. It was a $1.50, or so I was told, When I looked at the reciept, I was charged $6.00. The bartender, was drunk, very drunk. I eventually got him to give me two redbulls. Later in the night, before dragonforce's set, I go outside to roll a ciggarette(bad habbit, I know). Once the security gaurd in the smoking area see's... Read more

I went to see Jason Mraz as well and could not have been more disappointed at the venue. I was surprised to find out that the Myth got the award for best of the city dance club, but once I thought more about it, that?s all the Myth is, a dance club and NOT a venue for concerts. The acoustics were absolutely atrocious which made it impossible to understand a single word Jason Mraz was singing. I could not see anything either and relied on the high-tech flat screens that were all over the place, however, the video technology was so inadequate that Jason?s face was nothing but a white blob in the middle of the screen. Then, there is the parking issue. The Myth advertises on its website that there is plenty of parking there as well as at the mall which is absolutely UNTRUE. The mall parking is limited to a very small area between Macys and Kohl?s and if your park some other place by mistake, you can be sure your car will be towed. There is no warning of such kind on the website. I believe... Read more

I also went to the Jason Mraz concert on November 19th, 2008. Worst experience ever. (1) There is not free parking for more than 5% of customers. Everyone else has to park at Maplewood Mall, only to have mall police say "you can't park here." There are only a few small sections available for Myth patrons. (2) The acoustics were worse than listening to a concert in a high school gym. Nobody even knew what song was being played. (3) The concert was oversold and I could not see the stage; had to stand against a wall near the exit door on a below-freezing evening. (4) The so-called "manager" took zero accountability for the situation when I complained, and behaved in an extremely unprofessional manner. This club is bush-league, amateur hour at its worst. I can't imagine anyone paying anything to go there. I'm going to ask for my money back. By the experience I had with management, however, I don't expect anything. Shame on Jason Mraz for letting his management book this venue... Read more

I went to see Jason Mraz November 19th, 2008. My fiance and I were very excited to see one of our favorite artists that night, but the excitement quickly turned into a very unpleasant experience. I should start off by saying that if I could give this place ZERO stars I would. Contrary to what the Myth Nightclub would tell you, there is NOT ample parking. We had to park quite a long distance from the venue in the mall's parking lot located to the east of the club. It was at least a 5 minute walk to the doors in the freezing cold. Not fun. But it gets worse. As soon as we got through the doors we realized that they had WAY over sold the concert. There was nowhere to go and it was quite a chore to try to push through the crowd to get anywhere. The WORST part about the night was that we couldn't see ANYTHING! I was lucky if I could see the top of Jason Mraz's hat once in a while. I feel even worse for my fiance because she could not see anything but that back of people's heads the ENTIRE... Read more

Halloween! Myth marketed this fantasy fun party with good music and great prizes. Wrong! The music was sooooo bad that my 9 yr. old son can mix better! They must not know what real dance music is? The music was only new and old radio songs mixed at a 6 beat. And every gangster that was looking for trouble was there!Six -dollar beers and Twelve -dollar shots.(You've got to be kidding). And the shots were only half-full.I have toured the world of the best electronic music there is; and have been to the greatest events. But my wife and I haven't been out in nearly a year and thought this would be a great place to get out and dance as they posted. Returning from Iraq 2 months ago and reuniting the sparks for a holiday, you think you would be appreciated as a customer and want to come back. NO!!!! The bartenders were rude, mean, and disrespectful to me and my wife. We had more fun at Whitecastle. I really pray to see a definite Owner/ Management change. And an employee change. And hope who... This place is a joke. We ONLY went (against all recommends) to see Ben Folds. The place is lame. We go all over the country to see bands and LOVE First Ave and all the other cool theaters in Minneapolis - too bad Ben got the shaft from these yahoos! Staff is the worst - there was a bloody tampon on the floor in the ladies room - ew! and some yahoo bouncette pulled rank and took my husbands over-21 wrist band so he was cut off - early at that - and for no reason. Not to mention he had only 3 beers that night...We will go back again if they come to town, however I would not mind if they chose a new location to perform.

Recently attended a show and the service in VIP was phenomenal!! i have never been vip so i didnt go in expecting much. Throughout the night our personal server was great. she was so great that she bought and took shots with all of us! wait a minute. come the end of the night and my Drivers license nor Debit card could be found!! They took it at the door when i came in and POOF its gone. GREAT SERVICE contrasted with an extremely surprising outcome POOR ORGANIZATION. (also our server who was awesome, but was plastered. thats fine but not with MY license and credit card info) they did the right thing and paid for the table and the re-printed license. however, still scary, p.s. - the sound system in their is one of the best in the twin cities for a smaller venue.

My friends and I went to see Lenny Kravitz here. First off, there is not ample parking. We ended up parking quite a distance from there, and having to walk in the sub zero temperatures was not fun. Upon entering the club we found that the coat check was full! Plan ahead please! No one wants to watch an entire concert while holding onto their winter parka, hat, gloves and scarves. The lines to the bars where out of control. No one wants to wait 30 minutes to get a beer after already deciding that this is the worst venue in the Twin Cities all while holding all of their outdoor gear. As some of the other reviewers noted the bouncing staff is less than professional. Also, what's with the no drinks in the bathroom rule? I would never see another show at this place. Stay home, buy the DVD and watch it on your home theater!

the environment is big and roomy, the waitress are hot and nice. The bartenders acts like they're deaf. The security staff are incompetent and so are the Maplewood cops. I don't recommend this place. At the front door, we were aggressively search by incompetent bouncers, while inside my brother got kick out because the bouncer thought the he was drinking liquor, just because he has a water cup with water inside. A couple of bouncers was trying to make a move on my girlfriend. Left the club, see Maplewood cops outside looking to catch someone in the act but when nothing happens they decided to create a BAIL. We were walking to the car parked in the parking lot and along came a fat cop, started yelling at us, swearing at us and trying to rough us up, wanting us to argue back so that the cop can arrest us for misconduct. lucky, we didn't and decided to leave. Worst place to go to.

I recently had the worst concert experience I've ever had at this venue. The security staff is a bunch of idiots who have no idea what they're doing. They were kicking people out of the club for the most idiotic reasons. I've spoken with several people who got thrown out of your venue without just cause during the show, and I've made it my personal goal to spread the word. I hope this club goes bankrupt, as it has no respect for it's patrons. It is unlikely that they could do anything to rectify this, so I will continue to spread the news. Congrats.

Myth nightclub has the WOST bouncers ever! They kick people out for no reason at all. I had a bouncer come up to me and said I was drinking. I am 20 years old, by the way. I told him to BREATHALIZE me, and he wouldn't, due to the fact that he KNEW I wasn't driking. I had no cups by me at all. He was just looking for a reason to kick people out that night. He also kicked out another person that night. And while that person waited by the front to know why they got kicked out, he had to take a SECOND look at that person and then made a comment and said they were drinking too. He didn't even recognize that person at first. He made up some bullsh*t story and said we were drinking and kicked us out.

Myth is a huge, packed with great light shows, and beautiful people night club, but it's just ok. They advertise online, and some time do not follow the specials they advertise. The bouncers are quick to kick out the drunkards, but if you're not blond and bodacious, the bartender are SLOW to get to you. Bathrooms are clean. There's still too much smoking though (need to extend the ban to Maplewood!). The dance floor may take a while to pack up, but when it does, it gets super crowded - so careful for sweaty and huffy puffy guys. Check it out, 21+ is usually half-price cover.

I had read a lot of the reviews for "myth" and how great it was so I decided to check it out. Its not the WORST club ever, but it is certainly not the best. The music is too all over the place, and the crowd seemed quite young to be honest. Its a huge space and couldd easily be probably the hottest club in the area, but they need to stop letting little girls borrowing their sisters ID into the club. They have these performers that do sets during the night to entertain the crowd. Again, they arent horrible, but at the same time, its not Vegas, and if I wanted to see someone lipsink to Britney Spears I would go to a Kareoke bar. Over all I think if they changed a few things it could be great, but I wouldnt waste my time again.

B I G S P A C E: 4 bars, 3 floors, large dance floor, free parking...This is the place to be! On 18+ nights, upstairs is roped off to allow only those over 21 (I love that), the staff is courteous and friendly, and the music is awesome. Friday nights, the music is strictly hip-hop (ALL night--no inturruptions) while on Saturdays the DJs spin top 40 (not really great when you're meeting "at the mall; it's goin' down" and then suddenly you "love rock and roll", but you can just turn and watch the staff dancing on stage), drinks are very reasonably priced, and there are more than enough areas to sit if your feet grow tired. There are cages for girls to dance in (so much fun to be up there!), enough space on the dance floor for your group of friends, and the mirrors in the bathrooms are very mysterious (peer closely to see your eyes and they seem to glow). Every city should have a club this awesome. You MUST give it a shot.

I give the Myth 8 more months and the doors will be shut for good. Reason 1: ACTS- Booking has gone way down hill, they'll take anyone at this point. This is a early sign a club isn't doing well. Reason 2: MANAGEMENT- I've been to family owned camp grounds that were better managed. This is what happens when someone has a big idea and a lot of cash to throw it's way but not the brains or experience to make it work. Reason 3: THE STAFF- They are not only impolite, unorganized but quite frankly a little slow. I actually signed up for their mailing list until my first encounter with the staff. I quickly ran back to the young people taking names and email address' and asked to be removed. Reason 4: WORD OF MOUTH ADVERTISING: Word of mouth is the best form of advertising and also the cheapest. If you have a bad reputation word of mouth is working against you and it's awful expensive to fight. I haven't ran into one person that quite frankly had a good experience at the Myth, ... Read more

This club has potential but the staff is rude which is a turn off. The bouncers are over zealous and the bartenders must NOT work for tips. You can't even bring your plastic beer bottle (cheezy) to the bathroom with you without a Bouncer snatching it out of your hand. If you call during the day, no one is proffessional. To me it is a wanna-be upscale night club that allows teens. I can't agree with everyone else because I have been here several times and I don't want to return.

This club should be in bigger cities - even NYC could use this classy club. Great ambience, huge dance floor, decent mix of house and popular music, and free shots! The bartenders are awesome too. Alas, all is lost on the crowd. "Uncouth" is the word that comes to my mind. They should all be shown a video of bar ettiquette. Some fools were wasting Hennesey as shots with lime! Now if that isn't a crime, I don't know what is...

Myth. Simply put, fantastic. This is one of the premier clubs not only in the midwest, but in the US. The building is new, not old and worn like others, service and staff is excellent. Waitresses are beautiful and friendly, security is always aware of whats going on. I myself do not like smoke, and at the end of the night I faintly could smell anything on my clothes, dont believe the other reviews. The club is very clean at all times. The music is fantastic, with big name artists performing, such as Bone Thugs, Akon, DJ Skribble, G Unit, Twista, and so on. What other club in the midwest has so many names performing? None. How many in the US boast this type of performer list? Very few. And contrary to what others say, dress code is mentioned. Check the website. Overall, the best club around.

I didn't like that the upper balcony wasn't sectioned off for 21+ during the all ages show I attended. If I wanted a 15 year old girl and boy to sweat on me I would have been in the pit! I was there for the music and the performance not having the same sweaty 15 year old girl and boy scream in my ear all night. Other than that it's a pretty good venue - the stage is huge compared to the Quest. It was a little tricky getting up the stairs in the complete darkness, but we managed!

It's about time! I am from the east coast and was very unimpressed with Minnesota nightlife until now. Myth Nightclub is the hottest club and concert venue in the Twin Cities, hands down. When I'm clubbin, I want to look good, see beautiful women, and bump to the hottest DJ's ever in the Midwest. You have got to see this place! I don't care that it's not downtown, I certainly don't miss paying $10 to $30 to park down there only to be hassled by over zealous Minneapolis cops and drunken frat boys from the U. I want to impress my date and have a good time in a quality joint. Myth is the only place for me when I am in the Twin Cities.
