Movie videos/ DVDs

When I was a kid, my greatest fantasy was to be able to "own" some of the movies I loved. In those days, if they weren't being played in the theatre, I had to hope I'd be around when (and if) they were re-run on TV (almost invariably edited). When "The Exorcist" was re-released in the theatres in 1980, I paid to see it every night it was playing at the local movie theatre, wanting to be able to store every detail of it in my memory banks, as I wasn't sure it would ever again play in theatres and I couldn't conceive that it would ever be shown on TV (I know that sounds more than a bit obsessive, but I was a big "Exorcist" fan in my youth). When VCR machines came out, I considered them an absolute god-send, and started  collecting tapes of movies I'd seen and loved, movies I hadn't seen but wanted to, or movies that I hadn't seen or read anything about, but which might prove to be interesting or entertaining. My wife and I have close to 300 DVD's all great movies...but since they are all good and we have so many...it is so hard to decie what to watch...so I just go and buy more and watch them and then put them in a walkin closet that I made our DVD room...we are expecting a baby in 2 weeks...so we have been getting all the disney movies... collecting DVD's is my addiction.

I like movies as much as the next person, and a large library does come in handy on a rainy day. However, I say buy the book first, then buy the DVD.

An almost five. I guess between the four of us, over the last 19 years from the time we bought our first VCR and then eventually, A DVD player.we have managed to have a collection of Videos, and dVDs. they range from Disney movies, to classic movies, Current favorites. All of us have our own videos, and Dvds we have bought for birthdays, Christmas gifts and allowances. so we have a fairly good collection. probably medium sized collection.Something we all enjoy getting every now and then that is pretty affordable.

My collection as well as my Mother's is big enough to fill a 6 shelf cupboard. But we don't exactly collect movies, we keep our favourate shows, Star Trek etc.

I am an avid collector of John Wayne movies on VHS tapes.My collection of DVD movies exceeds 125 in number so far.I am not going for quantity though.I do not buy DVD'd just to gain a high number.
