Moonraker

One of worst Bond films ever. sub-par good science fiction.

There is so much stuff in this movie it could easily last 3 hours, but all goes well until it turns into Star wars-2 and everything becomes a farce. Yes, a Bond movie should be fun to watch, but it would be so much better if they had launched just one shuttle, thrown the villain out, had a quicky in space and be done with it!

I've seen all the Bond movies over and over but this one I have only managed to sit through once. I didn't hate it but when I walk over to the shelf in the mood to watch a Bond movie I just never seem to settle on Moonraker. It's goofy (even for Bond) and demands a far greater suspension of disbelief than any other movie in the series.

the most over the top of all Bond films with the space battle probably the most ludicrous scene in all Bond films. the plus points are for Lois Chiles, for just being sexy, and the very beautiful French girl who ends up being mauled to death by the Dobermen.

A completely forgettable Bond movie with silly space combat scenes (inspired by Star Wars?). Moonraker is redeemed chiefly by interesting backdrops in Venice and Brazil, the return of Jaws (Richard Kiel) and the priceless line by 'Drax' (paraphrased): "I've adopted the best from all the world's cultures....including your country’s only indisputable contribution to Western civilisation–afternoon tea."

I never made it all the way through this one when I rented it.

As I said in my comments on the movie before this, Jaws conversion is implausible and pandering for audience favor. The plot was better for an "our Man Flynt" film than a Bond movie. Plus, it was boring.

This movie is absolute drivel....

I think Moon raker has most of the elements which make a good Bond movie - babes, exotic locations, actions etc. The main problem with this movie is that Bond and space simply dont go well together. The first two thirds of the movie is quite good actually and the last one third is the weakest part of the film. The space scenes are shot well but dont feel right in a Bond movie. I think Jaws is overrrated as a villian. On the whole, however, I would say this movie is worth a rental especially if you are into Bond movies.

The film which was perhaps the culmination of the increasing campness which had begun with the ascendancy of Moore to the role of Bond. You can just image a gaggle of suited hacks in a boardroom idly tossing out ideas for this movie based more upon appealing to the lowest common denominator than quality filmaking. Forsaking any pretense of an espionage based thriller, the movie revolves around a ridiculously OTT premise in which the bearded villain plans to destroy all life on earth and repopulate it with a very silly looking race of silver-suited supermen. If any more evidence of the film's direness was needed, one only needs to cast a glance at the metal-toothed Jaws and his whirlwind relationship with a pigtailed milkmaid or the scene in which Bond launches a kick to the privates of the aforementioned henchman and hears a loud clang!. The franchise needs humor obviously but this film took the campness to excess and the result is this very poor movie.

I liked this movie alot, it kept me interested the whole time. jaws is the best villian and he plays his part well in this movie

I probably like Moonraker better than the film objectively deserves. The movie followed The Spy Who Loved Me (1977) though For Your Eyes Only (1981) was originally scheduled to be the next story to be used in the series; however, with the space movie craze following the release of Star Wars, the Bond franchise (needlessly?) felt it had to get in on the action. 007 is again played well by Roger Moore, and the main Bond Girl is another strong female character, this time in the literal form of Lois Chiles as Dr. Holly Goodhead. The soundtrack also features a return of Shirley Bassey singing one of the better theme songs. On the downside, the plot and villains are unimaginative as the evil scheme is too reminiscent of Spy from just two years prior and henchman Jaws returns as well. The most ridiculous and too far-fetched plot of all Bond films. Jaws in space? With his pig-tailed girlfriend? They went too far in this one.
