Tue Jun 21 2011Seriously the worst, rudest, and most of all, completely incompetent office staff. Completely inexcusable. I have lived in rentals for 10 years and in cities notorious for bad landlords, and Montlack was far and away the worst! Ugh...I was so glad to get out of there. I am sharing this experience with ALL incoming grad students looking for housing. There's so much more available in Cleveland. Don't settle for Montlack!

Wed Dec 22 2010I have been a Montlack tenant at Shaker Square for 5 years. I love my apartment and the Montlack management and maintenance staff have been terrific! Last summer when the leaking fish tank of my upstairs neighbor damaged my ceiling, Montlack got on it right away (and made the ceiling look like "new")! Whenever I have called-in a maintenance request it has been handled in a timely, efficient and courteous manner. I looked at a lot apartments before choosing a Montlack property. A well-maintained buidling was at the top of my list. I found it at Montlack...couldn't be happier!!!

Wed Nov 03 2010Montlack Realty is the worst. All the other bad reviews on this site are very true. When my roommate and I first looked at the apartment in December of 2009, we noticed the windows didn't lock (and this was a concern for us because we were on the first floor). They told us they would have the windows fixed by the time we moved in in January 2010. The windows were NOT fixed when we moved in. Not only that, but despite several phone calls to the maintenance department in January, February and March to have the problem dealt with, the windows were not fixed until APRIL. Our kitchen light flickered for months. We called to have this fixed several times. It wasn't completed until about 3 months later. In order for the windows and light to be fixed, we finally had to threaten them with a letter that stated we would put our rent money into an escrow account until these issues were resolved. After they received the letter, they got right on it. They are awful and I would never, ever ... Read more

Tue Sep 21 2010One of the greatest strengths of Montlack realty are its leasing agents. In particular, I have been very pleased with the professionalism and efficiency of Marissa Brando. When I first moved into my apartment, my microwave was not working. After attempts to fix the microwave, it was immediately replaced. Additionally, my dishwasher was not working. Again, it was expediently replaced. When there have been issues with other tenants in the laundry room, those have been cleaned up almost immediately. And when I needed an AC unit installed, that was arranged for with no hassle. It is refreshing to find such professional staff and a realty company that takes such good care of its tenants with such a responsible approach. Thank you!

Mon Apr 12 2010Great landlords! I lived in the Ambassador for 2 years. I thought Montlack Realty employees were all very respectful and helpful. We had a few small issues in our apartment and they responded with quick action and were there to fix the problem that day. In one instance they had a get a part which only took a day. That was for a leaky toilet. The people in the office were attentive and efficient. They really pay close attention to their landscaping and picking up trash around the building. The location couldn't be better. Close to CWRU, the Cleveland Clinic, Shaker Square, Coventry and a straight shot downtown. We had a to move because my husband got transfered to another job elsewhere. They were prompt in getting our deposit back to us and helpful with making the transition smooth and easy. No complaints from me. I would definitely rent from Montlack Realty in a heartbeat!

Wed Feb 10 2010Living in one of Montlack Realty's west side locations has been very pleasurable experience(June 08-present). It is my second rental and I rarely experience any problems with anyone or anything. The office employees are very helpful and understanding, and the maintenence was rarely a problem. I did once have to wait and call 3x for a work order to be fulfilled, but it was not as upsetting as others make it out to be. I love the area here as well, I have never had any problem with any of my neighbors or any visitors of any tenants. For the price, location, and service you get I believe this is an unbeatable value here on the West Side. I have seen some of the other apartments around this area and they are smaller and run-down compared to our apartments. I would (and have) recommended these apartments to friends and family looking for apartments.

Fri Jan 15 2010Lived in Montlack's Shaker Lakes building for several years (44120). Maintenance returns calls when they feel like it, emergency maintenance is not so... emergency. YOu might get a call back the next day if ever. Getting ahold of our rental agent in Montlack to discuss major issues was next to impossible. he never returned a phone call, had to get lucky and catch him in the office which was rare. We had a leaking ceiling for most of the summer with drywall falling into the apt and they came out once to look and said maybe there was a pipe problem. There aren't any pipes in that area above us!!! Turned out to be the a/c unit in the apt above dripping back into the apt. Had a kitchen flood one summer while on vacation. They came out and fixed the clogged drain (not our fault, multiple apts share a drain pipe and it clogged). Took them two days to come out and then they barely cleaned the apt. Had to call them back twice. Wood floor in dining room and living room is now warped... Read more
