Wed Oct 24 2007A very good respectable sports car but is a little expensive for this import. Consider MazdaSpeed3 for an all-round better car.

Thu Jan 18 2007Great car for the money, I found that it had much more speed and responsiveness than what I originally expected.

Sun Dec 12 2004Five stars for the old-style (late '80s to early '90s) model--the one with the side hump on the hood. The Plymouth Laser and Eagle Talon clone. Actually Mitsubishi made all three of them. One star for the newer model. It looks nothing like the traditional Eclipse. I had a 1990 Eclipse and was very happy with it. It had well over 120,000 miles when I traded it in. Only had minor wear n tear problems with it. It was incredibly fun to drive and great to look at. The revamped model: No comment.

Wed Sep 08 2004I have had no problems with my '02 Mitsu. Eclipse GS since I bought it in November of '01. I'm going on my 3rd year of ownership, and not one glitch. It's fun, quick and agile as far as handeling is concerned. My only qualm is its weather performance. I would recommend getting all-weather high-performance tires and not the Bridgestone Potenzas that come w/ the vehicle off the lot.

Tue Jun 24 2003Fun, cool, didn't cost much. Park carefully to avoid scraping the front spoiler. I bought a new 1998 Eclipse RS at a Chevy-Olds-Cadillac-Mitsubishi dealership in a smaller city. A couple of years later I brought it in and the owner had dumped Mits because he wasn't making enough profit. The former head Mits mechanic now fixed GMs, but preferred his former job. He told me Mitsubishi cars are more of a pleasure to fix. He gave examples of a couple of parts, which I forget now, being much stronger in Mits than in GMs. I disbelievingly asked about the 3000GT, the equivalent of a Corvette, and he said the 3000GT was higher quality. In summary, he said that GM vehicles have cheap parts that break more easily than Mitsubishi vehicles.

Sun Feb 02 2003This is not a sports car. Its a redesigned Galant made to look sporty. V-4's are anything but sporty. This one is better than the Tiburon but still terrible. Why would you buy a car from a company that got famous from making VCR's! Wake up, people. Dont buy something becuase of the looks. Buy it for what it is. Dont get this- get a Celica or RSX. If you have the money, get a Mustang, but be prepared to take in the dealer a lot.

Fri Aug 18 2000My brother has a Mitsubishi Eclipse 92', and I have to admit that this car has given my brother and me headaches all the time. We took this car to the mechanic and after two months of being parked on my garage, we finally got the car running. Also, just to check the car's computer (which most likely you have to check every time is in the shop) it will cost you some good $$$. Even to replace the Mitsubishi parts it's expensive because the car is imported. On a second note, it's gives you good mileage. The worst of all.... I think that I will eventually inherit my brother's car. What a dilemma!!!

Wed Aug 09 2000Well, I've owned two now. A 1991 GS and now a 1997 GS-T. Both were/are wonderful. I can't answer as to how they hold up with mileage over 70,000. The '97 is getting closer and I will update this page when appropriate. To date, its been nothing but a complete blessing. Love the way it looks. Love the way it handles. Love the way it accelerates (especially in 3rd gear). Love the way it holds up in an accident (both hold up well -- no, I'm not accident prone but have been in two accidents ... both in eclipses adn walked away without a scratch both times). I've noticed no adverse rattles. The drive train has held up to my driving style which is to say the least agressive. To put it simply, my next car will most likely be another eclipse. Love it, love it, love it. Do you get the message yet? I really love this car.

Wed Mar 15 2000My '90 Eclipse has been incredibly reliable--no trips to the shop except for routine maintenance for 4 years. It handles on a par with my previous car, a BMW 320i, and has all the power the little BMW lacked. Downside--the sticky transmission (actually transaxle) and some minor body noises.

Mon Nov 29 1999I personally own the new model and love it. It does have a couple of blind spots, but that is the only complaint. You have to heavily depend on the side view mirrors. It is beautiful, and the smoothest car that you can drive.

Sun Nov 21 1999I gave the Mitsubishi Eclipse such a bad rating because I've owned one, and know it's not a reliable car (no matter how nice it looks on the outside).

Sun Nov 21 1999The Eclipse is the biggest piece of crap ever placed on this earth. After a few years everything breaks down.

Tue Oct 26 1999I do not like the new Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Tue Oct 26 1999The Eclipse is the best car in style and performance. I personally own a 95' GS black model.
