Sun Nov 27 2005I am from Canada and I have a 2005 MINI Cooper. It is the most fun car and best handling car I have ever driven (I driven CRX, Civics, Jetta, Tercel hatch, Prelude, Integra, Corolla, PT Cruiser Turbo, Dodge SRT4, Magnum, 300C, Protege5, Mazda 3 Sport, and more). What I love is that you can get the MINI Cooper going too fast too quickly, not as quick as the Cooper S but quick, and the handling is as good and it corners and holds the road like it was glued. The braking is also amazing, when you hit the brakes really hard you feel the car slow down like you just drove into a lake, stops on a dime and gives you a nickel back! I love all the many included standard features, and the Premium and Sport option packages offer many more great features. When BMW redesigned the Mini they made a good car a great car! Yeah it is designed by a German design team, but they were guided and influenced by the original English car, they worked together with the John Cooper company headed by the son M... Read more

Wed May 11 2005afropath said it best, unlike BIGBABY he gets the point! I have the S. The handeling is stunning. 163hp is plenty to keep most people entertained for a long time. And lest not forget the MINI has a tradition of aftermarket modification. When you grow bored with the 163hp you can easily step it up to 200, 225, or 250HP! That is WICKED FUN in a car of that size! All you dumb muscle car brutes who only look at size , power & machoism don't know what you're missing.

Thu Jul 29 2004BIGBABY, stop being a big baby. The MINI is light which allows it to still have top acceleration even with 115 measly horses. The MINI also simply has the best handling on the road. Parallel parking is a snap. And for 28 grand, a supercharged engine, leather interior, panaromic sunroof, racing gear, alloy wheels, xenon headlamps, GPS, speed sensitive wipers, the BEST sound system, AND enough space for four adults, not to mention already stated speed AND handling capabilities, the MINI is just plain frickin' fun to drive. Have you tried one? Let's Motor.

Mon May 17 2004The mini cooper is overpublicized as something that its not. The only reason it sells is because people, mainly women, think that they are Cute. If thats wat you want, fine then but if you want a performance sedan or wagon, mini just wont cut it.

Mon Mar 22 2004OK, so it's too expensive and kinda impractical. It's a blast to drive and it's so cute!

Tue Jul 01 2003The Mini Cooper does not deserve to be #1 on this list, not by a long shot. Sure, its a cool little sporty coupe, but it does have its flaws as well. It starts at $16,000. Vinyl seats are standard. What's up with that? Its main drawback is power. It comes standard with a 1.6L Inline-4, which produces a miserable 115hp. How's that for sport? Fortunately, that can be optioned out by buying the S Model, which comes with a supercharged version of the same engine, making a well 163hp. Three transmissions are offered: 5 or 6 speed manuals, or a CVT automatic. To get rid of those awful and dated vinyl upholstery, I'd get the leather for about $1,250. The new Cooper is no longer a British vehicle, as it was designed by BMW. Its a good car if you want a sporty little hatch, but a word of advise: Be careful with options, as the can rise rapidly. A completely loaded S model can max out around $28,000, too much for a car this size, and clear into Mustang territory.
