Sun Feb 08 2009This book knocked my socks off! I have read all of Robert McCammon's other books which of course are nothing like this book. This story scared me, made me angry and made me sad. A book that can do that is a great read. The story starts with Mary Terror and grabs you by the throat. It doesn't let go until the last page! There's more than one heroine in this story, but the woman who's baby is stolen is by far some gutsy woman. This new brand of writing for Robert McCammon is by far his best, although I also loved his scarey books. Get this book. You will NOT be disappointed.

Wed May 14 2008This is a well-written thriller that is relentless in its pacing. It will capture the reader's imagination from the beginning. It intertwines the stories of two women, Mary Terrell and Laura Clayborne. Both are women with a mission. Mary is a radical hippie extremist, who once belonged to a terrorist organization called the Storm Front. She is responsible for several murders, and has been underground for years, living under assumed names, as she is on the FBI's most wanted list. Laura, who played at being a hippie, albeit a peaceful one, is now married and living the life of an upper middle class yuppie in Atlanta, Georgia. Working as a journalist reporting on high society, she is about to have a baby and hopes that it will repair her marriage to Doug, her stockbroker husband. By the time she gets to the hospital, however, and is delivered of a son, whom she names David, the marriage is in its death throes. Mary, who is not wrapped too tight, had once been desperately in love ... Read more

Fri Nov 23 2007I've had Mine sitting on my bookshelf for over 16 years and finally got around to reading it. After finishing this exciting, pulse-pounding thriller I can assure you that my next book by McCammon will be read very soon. Mine is about Mary Terrell, aka Mary Terror, a survivor of a fanatical radical 60's group, who now lives in a hallucinary world of memories, guns and murderous rage. Mary, however, is happy at last because she has a beautiful baby boy...a baby she has stolen...and will kill to keep! Mine has enough drama, action, suspense and violence to fill several books. Be ready to forget about doing anything else once you start Mine. Enjoy!

Tue Nov 07 2006Oh, love, love, love this book! I've had a copy on my shelves for years, and when I can't figure out what I'm in the mood to read next, can always pick this up. This is an extremely fast paced and very intense page turner. As a mother, I feel the mother's pain so intensely. I also enjoyed the Atlanta references as a resident, but you certainly don't have to be - that was just a little plus. If you're into thrillers and fast paced action, pick this up NOW! You won't be sorry.

Thu Apr 27 2006This novel has one of the best chase sequences ever written. I don't believe I've ever wanted to do harm to an antagonist as much as I wanted to just jump into this book and kick the hell out of Mary Terror--or at least put my foot out and trip her up a little. And amazingly, I felt a certain sympathy for her all the while. This novel has so much suspence, emotion and intense backstory that it just thrusts the reader right along with the characters (who seem to be constantly and desperately on the run througout). Though there are no "true" monsters or supernatural happenings in this book, any horror fan will not be disappointed. The monster you'll encounter here is more frightening than any you'll meet on the other side. And she'll continue to give you chills decades down the road. (I can still remember the gas station scene, and I haven't touched this book for 15 years--something I'm now absolutely ashamed of.)
