Fri Sep 14 2007Nolan established a steady pace toward improvement at the Niners organization in his first two seasons, and it remains to be seen whether he's pulled the team out of the mire. Nolan gets an extra point for sporting perhaps the best collection of ties of any man in the world, ever.

Mon Dec 19 2005Hard to tell. Certainly not incompetent. It is clear, however, that the problems with the Niners don't start with the coach. If they wind up with Bush, which looks likely, it could make a big impact, but I think they have a hole at quarterback which Smith can't fill.

Tue May 10 2005Although he shows great promise following his successful term as the Defensive Coordinator for the Ravens, he is still unproven. To give you an example, Chiefs Defensive Coordinator Gunther Cunningham helped to led one of the most consistently successful defenses in the 90s, but failed as a head coach before eventually returning to the Chiefs as D-Coordinator. Nolan has alot of the tools needed, but probably won't have the players he wants to make an immediate impact. Since he's unproven and doesn't have the player talent needed to succeed, I can't rate him higher than a 2 for right now. The future may change that, though.
