I won't hate and give Coach K anything less than a 5, because what he has done with Duke is amazing. However, he is a smug little bastard whose teams are full of whiny brats. I can't stand Duke and only wish for his failure.

Coach K and Duke is LOADED with the best talent in America (how much are they paying those recruits nowadays?) yet almost always plays below their talent level. Duke is a program that should be in the Final Four every year with the talent they have. Anything less is an abject failure. The guy is a complete hypocrite and cheater.

Yea, Krzyzewki has talent, but I am a heels fan. He is a good guy and knows how to win games, but Williams doesn't get any credit. I think Krzyzewski should back away from the commercials about him using an American Visa Card. TO me it shows that he is trying to have kids go to Duke. Please, do it fairly!

I am a more of a Tar Heel fan, but there is no denying he is one of the greatest coaches of all time. People forget that coaching is not just calling plays from the sideline or determining when to call timeout, but also (and more importantly) being able to recruit the types of players he gets and then motivate them. Getting the right talent in college basketball is more important than anything and this little rat does it better than most.

UPDATE: No, Carolina32, it's not just you. But he not only looks like a rat....he is a rat. Literally. Seriously, he lives in the sewer, and feeds at night. Only cheese though......which is why he always looks constipated and tries to schedule Wisconsin every year. UPDATE: 'MUSICPROF', nobody is saying K can't coach. That would be dumb. However, you're terribly wrong by saying that all of NC becomes Dook fans when they are in the title ame, or whatever you said. Maybe immigrants from other states, but for the most part, THE OPPOSITE of what you said is true. That year in '95 I think it was, when ya'll sucked, everybody hated you even more, even though K wasn't around most of the time. I know where Nebo is, EXACTLY where it is, and Id be ashamed of myself for liking a team that is not of the people.......that is, if you're a native. Yeah, I know Nebo, you probably hang out at that packed Wal Mart on 70? NEBO? - I know EXACTLY why you like Dook. Know what I'm saying? You don't like that... Read more

PLEASE, he is good but can't touch Dean Smith or Roy Williams. He makes courney commercials, not to be a show of but to get more bball players to come to Duke. His credit card commercial was a joke, he talked about how good and talented he was, HE was suppose to talk about money and spending it. He is so desperate he results to that! PLEASE! Oh ya, and when he hurt his back, it just ended up when his team was the worst in the ACC, he didn't want to hurt his precious record, what a pretender he is. And is just me, or does he look like a rat, he acts like one at least.

GIVE UP, TARBABIES! I am origionally from Nebo, NC. I lived it all. The hatred everyone felt toward me and the other Duke fans. The tarbabies always throwing their winning streak in our faces. The whining of the Deacon fans. The obnoxious braying of the wolfpack fans. Then, coach K came along. Duke started winning. Everyone complained more. Whined more. The howling got worse. But wait! When Duke went to the championship, all NC was Duke Fans! Until the start of the next season. And so it has gone for years. Come on! Did I read and hear that anyone could coach that team!? Well, least we forget that when K was down with his back several years ago, he left a team with 11 wins at the begining of the season and the team finished with only 13 wins for the year. K takes good players from high school and melds them together as a team. He doesn't have individual stars. The reason they win is they play well together. No one else in college basketball coaches that way save maybe Roy Williams. Mik... Read more

Led Duke to the Sweet 16, earned Duke a #1 seed, ACC champions.....the list goes on. This man has led the short benched team to great things. Duke's only been successful because of his coaching skills. I'd kill to have him as my coach......

iluvseanmay...you're eloquent as always...and scottery4 that statement could not be any less true. this year there are some talented players of course, but not nearly as much as in prior years. This years squad has had injuries with Shavlick Randolph, Sean Dockery, David McClure, Reggie Love They also lost one of their best starters Lou Dang to the NBA. Their number one recruit Sean Livingston never showed up. Every one thought these guys were going to have a building year and not go too far. INSTEAD Krzyzewski coached them to be ACC champions and gain a number one seed. There is a reason this man has more NCAA tournament wins than any other coach EVER, he can coach a team to adapt to any and all problems they may hit along the way.

You just simply can't compete w/ Mike Krzyzewski...This whole rating thing isn't about how he looks (although I don't see the deformity all you other fans see) not even about how many wins he has...He cares about his players and loves each and every one of them and would go out of his way to do anything for them! Did any of you Happen to watch the Duke/Wake game @ Cameron?...I have never seen such a desire to win in his eyes before. He's the type of coach that allows his players to have a good time and get the job done. That is what an AWESOME, HALL OF FAME, GREAT coach is ALL about, Beyond the Glory says it all!

How can anybody rate him less than a five? The man is a hall-of-famer. Just look at what he has done with his 04-05 team. This is a team that wasn't expected to fare well in the ACC or in the nation this year, thanks to an extremely short bench. Yet we are 7th (or 10th, depending on the poll) in the nation and at the moment, 3rd in the ACC. He teaches his kids not only about basketball but about life, and he builds relationships and friendships with his players and staff. Did anybody see Beyond the Glory--coach k? That man loves his team and loves his job with every ounce of his heart. And CREEPY? Yes, I find men who write personal $10,000 checks to military installments in Iraq creepy too...wait, no. He has not only invested a ridiculous amount of money in helping others, but his actions have proven that he really cares. After a loss he always credits the other team...he never pulls an it was our worst night of the year, it's always the other team fought hard and deserved t... Read more

He is okay. But let's not get ahead of ourselves, I wouldn't go so far as to say he is as good as Herb Sendek at State. That would be a little bold, no? HA - HA! I have to say, I agree with some of the other raters - there is definitely something a bit creepy about this guy. I do not just say that because of his politics and where he coaches. If this were some average Joe bagging my groceries, I would notice his creepiness. I sure as hell wouldn't let him babysit my kids. He is good though. But not as good as Stan Van Gundy, or John Calipari, or Pat Summit for that matter.

I have to agree with the lunatic bluetarbaby.........I get the same vibe. And like him/her, it's not because I'm bias. He truly does seem like some kind of pervert in some weird way. I would bet my life savings, he is turned on by male anus! FYI, if not for DEAN, nobody gives 2 sh*ts about him.

Coach K is a great recruiter, great motivator, and great at preparing his team to play. But i think he is terrible at in-game situations (adjusting to the opposition). In the 99' championship game all he had to do was to go zone against UCONN (El-amin and Hamilton were killing them slashing to the basket) Yet coach K set there In his beloved man to man and lost the title. Also he is not a squeaky clean as the media makes him out to be. His assistant coaches are also very annoying.

I say he's the second best in the game now. Jim Calhoun outcoached him in the Final Four this year and in the championship in 1999. I think K is a great motivator but not a great X's and O's coach. But great motivation + great recruits = lots of championships, so I give the man his props.

He wins all the time. He used to get snobby upper middle class types. Since 1996, he has gotten all types. The best in the country always want to go to Duke for some reason. He must be doing something right, though outsiders can never understand what these kids are thinking. Duke seems to be the most obvious route to try to obtain a national title for these kids. All coaches are overrated by Packer-types.

As for X's and O's, I don't see it. He gets the recruits. If they ran an effective offense, and had discipline, Duke would be untouchable. As for the one star, ask Chris Duhon where his mom works and how she got that job.

Frankly, I personally cannot stand the looks like a rat smelling blue cheese Coach Mike Krzyzewski; however, he is clearly one of the best coaches, if not the best college basketball coach today. To his credit, Coach K has generally recruited based on who will be a good college player as opposed to who will be the best pro (as evidenced by the pro careers of the Duke alumni, or actually the lack of same). On the downside, Coach K abandoned his team when he had a loser in the early 1990's (and we will just have to wait and see if his back hurts enough again under similar circumstances) and he has not really been all that innovative; however, these latter points would go against him in an all time greatest list, not this current ratings list. Some comments have claimed that Duke players leave early, but the reality is the exact opposite. Duke players have historically stayed through their senior years (though there have been some recent exceptions), as opposed to a school like North ... Read more
