This guy is a total clown, and was one of the reasons I left Arkansas. He's a Baptist preacher, and doesn't hesitate to inflict his beliefs on others. He marched in an anti-abortion march and approved a bill for an anti-abortion license plate. On a visit to New York, he stated on a radio program that Arkansas is a banana republic. This may be true, but it certainly looks bad for the governor of Arkansas to travel the country bad-mouthing his state. When the Governor's Mansion was remodeled, he and his family moved into a triple wide mobile home, and thus made Arkansas the butt of comedians' jokes on many talk show programs. His wife is just as bad;when she ran for Secretary of State, she lectured women prisoners that if they were in jail, it was their own dern fault. Thank God the people of Arkansas had the sense not to elect her! People who have met Mike Huckabee say he is a likable man, but I always detested his policies. UPDATE: Since I left Arkansas, I have heard some good things a... Read more

I have created a petition for Governor Huckabee letting him know that Arkansans are unhappy with his granting clemencies to convicted murderers. Please visit the link to see and sign the petition. We only have until the beginning of August to make our opinions known. http://www.petitiononline.com/792004/petition.html

I have never voted for a Democrat, but I will vote for whoever runs against Mike Huckabee. I just saw on the news how he's going to grant clemency for 3 more murderers. This is ridiculous! Not only that but he continues to raise taxes--food is not exempt from taxes here in Arkansas, because the store owners are too stupid to figure it out (this according to Huckabee--my translation). Get this idiot out!

I've met him personally, and his wife too, on separate occasions. They're very likeable people and he was an excellent governor for his first several years in office. But lately, he's been doing some things that really disgust me. The latest is his attempt to shut down all of our smaller schools, and consolidate everyone into the largest ones, where there is so much violence and drug traffic.

I think he has got his head somewhere besides where it belongs. Arkansas has higher state taxes and getting worse. I voted for him and that was the biggest mistake of my life. He wants all our kids to be packed like sardines. I am against his so called education reform. It is an education nightmare. He needs to start thinking of families and children instead of MONEY.......

Huckabee is the first Republican I've ever seen that was tax happy. I've lived in Arkansas almost half my life. (Im 44) and Arkansas has always been way behind the power curve. I feel huckabee is just a yes man to the Democrats that live here. Someone likes his intiatives on education, why then does Arkansas continue to lag behind the rest of the nation. Huckabee has done nothing in this state to improve this states sorry economy. I feel this is primarily because our low educated population and the fact that we have more hidden taxes than you can shake a stick at. It makes me truly sad that a beautiful state which has two major interstates major tributary to the Mississippi River central shipping and receiving location mild climate not to mention a major rail road station could be in such sad shape. Major Interstate upgrades are currently being implemented. My question is this? Why if we are not going to have any substancial industy and pull in big business are we waiting these t... Read more

Once again, I do not live in Arkansas and am merely judging on what I have read of Mike Huckabee's policies as the Governor of Arkansas. Since becoming Governor, Mike Huckabee has been a strong advocate of education reform. He has helped to create one of the best accountability programs in the region. He has helped to extend thea vailable of college scholarship and led to the creation of charter schools cross Arkansas. Huckabee claims that he believes that everyone who can work should work, and this is reflected in that Arkansas' welfare rolls have decreased by over 50% since he assumed office. Huckabee fought for the establishment of a Property Taxpayers Bill of Rights. Most importantly, Huckabee has brought tax relief to thousands of Arkansas residents by pushing through the most broad-based tax cuts in state history. While doing this, Huckabee still managed to create ARKids First, which since 1996 has helped bring health insurance to thousands of children previously uninsured. He h... Read more
