Fri Jul 31 2009I agree with many of you that Miekos is a HORRIBLE GYM! They abuse your information and call you at inappropriate times..!! I was called at 11pm by one of the trainers just to talk!! I NEVER gave him my personal number to use for that reason.. only for my training visits!! I was a member at Miekos on Lake city for less than a week. Overall i really enjoyed the gym-it is simple, nice, inexpensive, and convenient. The two major problems I had occurred with the staff. As a new member you get a free session with a trainer which i registered for. Roger was my trainer and overall the session went well. He did ask me out, which I declined and the session continued without any issues. As I made my way out, Billy (another employee) and I began having a simple conversation (how are you doing....) He asked me if I had a boyfriend (reply: No). He proceed to ask me if i was married or had been married (reply: I dont want to talk about my personal life with you). I had just met the guy and didn't f... Read more

Mon Feb 23 2009Miekos is the worst gym ever. My daughter and I were Pure Fitness members, they went out of business an Miekos bought the memberships. I had prepaid for two years at Pure Fitness and believed the contract would end after the two years were up. Miekos continued billing us and because we did not have automatic payment from our checking account they charged us an additional $10.00 a month. The gym is not open 24 hours(Pure fitness was) it is small and it is a dump. There are no amenities. It took 3 months for me to settle the matter of billing and ABC financial should be avoided at all costs. I will bad mouth Miekos at every opportunity. My advice is to but a treadmill or stair stepper and some hand weights and call it a day. There is always red tape and underhanded sales people...Beware of Wayne I don't know weather he is a liar or is just incompetent but this gym should be avoided at all costs. I have a few friends from Pure Fitness and they are less than pleased as well. I hope to see... Read more

Sun Feb 08 2009I have been a member since they first opened. The club has been expanded they added new equipment and its the cleanest gym I have joined. I personally like the staff they know me by name compared to all the big chain gyms where your just ignored.

Sat Jan 10 2009The limits of the facilities are what they are. You know what you're getting into. The main problem with this chain is that they nickel and dime you to death. Every time you turn around they're making up a new fee. A secondary, but no less serious problem, is that they way oversell each club. "Peak" hours turn out to be practically any time of the day except one hour after and before closing. I frequently go home because there are too many people. I feel like a sucker for joining.

Sat May 24 2008I was a member of Miekos for four years, along with a lot of my friends. It is close to home and not too expensive, compared to other clubs. I had to say so long to my pals and join Golds up the street after a pretty awful lugie(a spit wad made by sucking the mucous into the back of your throat and combining it with saliva). You know the drill. But what really grossed us out, was that an employee kept walking by the trash bin and hawking up a lugie. I went directly to the employee to tell him that we thought it was pretty gross. He said he was sorry and that it would never happen again. Well, about three weeks later, a repeat lugie! This time I went to the manager and told him how yucky it was. Just then another fitness rep walked over and got in my face and asked me what the big deal was. I thought that was pretty rude. The receptionist said the spit guy was really nice but he chewed tobacco. Gosh, a fitness rep chewing and spitting, at a health club. I asked if I could switch clubs ... Read more
