I think CriticalMaterial may have been too busy spouting conspiracy theories to realize the quality of education and true beauty of the Middlebury campus.

The mountains are beautiful and idyllic, and they function perfectly as an ironic contrast to the horror that you will find within Middlebury College. The winters are colder than Antarctica and they last until, well, summer. Middlebury boasts of encouraging campus community through a commons system, and institutional diversity (flatulence!) but the townies are about the only morally decent individuals you will encounter. Middlebury students are close-minded, pretentious and socially graceless. They exist in their own fairy tale where everyone is a rich WASP (White Ango-Saxon Protestant) from a gated community. RACISM runs wild on this campus the likes of which you'd expect to find in a small southern town. If there is an ism that you can think of, Middlebury College has a full stock of it! Every campus has its share of sexual and racial intolerance, but Middlebury College takes it to another level. The campus atmosphere feels like an Arthur Miller play; the small New England community... Read more

No other college offers a more stimulating curriculum in a more stunning natural setting.

Very selective and competitive NE liberal arts college. Excellent foreign language programs. Vermont is beautiful!!! Anyone who downgrades this school is suffering from class inferiority sour grapes.

Very pretty. Everything is top notch. (e.g. science and athletic facilites) Everyone is super nice and there isn't a lot of elitism as compared to some of the other schools. Even though it isn't as well known as some of the larger schools, this "hidden treasure" attracts some very smart and nice people. More interestingly though, the student body is very good looking. Quite odd how that worked out.

Middlebury College is truely a gem of a school! Top notch academics, first rate facilities, and a beautiful mountain location. The students are friendly. Highly recommended. As for Birch45's comments, just look at his or her other ratings for Amherst and Bates and you'll see that he/she is not being objective--then look at his/her ratings for Dickinsin and Wesleyan (where Birch45's son goes) and you may get a better sense of why he/she has chosen to disparage excellent schools...

This is a very overated LITTLE IVY wantabe. The campus has no diversity for the administration is fearful that by doing so it would lower its precious SAT median.Wealth and high SATS are what get you in to this freezing cold and sterile environment. All foreign students are millionaires or close to it.The students are snobby and elitist.Having lived in Vermont I can tell you the climate is miserable.

Really good liberal arts school in New England. Specializes in foreign lanuguages studies and other general studies programs. Beautiful setting. Lots of New Englander kids here, so beware if you are not prepared for that. Good skiing close at hand.
